Hearing someone say "keep your politics out of my _____" is the quickest way to confirm they are a total fucking brainlet. It's genuinely the dumbest fucking thing and I can't believe anyone over the age of 18 is enough of a retard to think all the media they enjoy is somehow completely free of politics.
I've seen people argue that FPS games set during the events of actual real wars are not political. There is no reasoning with these children.

I hate the idea you can't love something genuinely if you were "born too late" though. I was born in 94 but honestly wish I were born earlier to experience the shifts the industry went through in the early days and play the classics at a real arcade. I've got superhuman memory that goes back a long time so I remember a lot of the mid-late 90s and the old advertising and stuff but for anything further back all we have is archival shit.
