>Streaming and a Traditional home console, codename Metallurgy >Exclusive games using known IPs, funded by Google >Designed so games developed for the console will translate easily to streaming service >Streaming service will launch before the hardware >Currently planning two consoles, one weaker ("Steel") and one stronger ("Titanium") "Steel" could be dropped because of production costs >"Titanium" is more powerful than Xbox One X Sleep mode >Developers supporting the Google console: Ubisoft SEGA (reviving classic games for it) Google's own first-party
So it’ll only have games with pixel perfect jumps and fast paced reaction based game play.
Justin Nguyen
Going to be a horrible flop, not enough to kill Google sadly but hopefully weaken them.
Nathaniel Nguyen
I agree. Its gonna do terribly, another Ouya.
Isaac Stewart
Everyone said the same when Microsoft and Sony entered the market.
John Moore
If Google said it was going to make a normal console, it might be interesting to have a fourth player on that market. They're not. This is some "games as a service" streaming shit where you never own anything, just subscribe for $99.99 a month plus tax plus tip. Basically the same shit that Phantom vaporware console claimed to do. This shit will crash and burn due to zero demand for such a thing.
No, they're both streamshit. Google has no interest in normal games, they literally just want to be Netflix for games because they think there's money in that. Not stopping to ask who the fuck wants Netflix for games.
Julian Allen
Thats not real right
Dylan Phillips
>hurtling toward the all-streaming future >meanwhile phones are becoming powerful enough to run the majority of games that come out natively Something's gotta give.
Austin Cox
you niggers know that even if they filed a patent doesn't mean they're gonna use it, right? it's like when Nintendo or whoever the fuck extended the copyright for Eternal Darkness.
Ethan Hall
That controller looks terrible to hold and use for extended periods of time. I hope it's some fan render and not the actual thing. Other than that, if this is even true, another competing console probably wouldn't be a bad thing, though the streaming shit can go fuck itself as far as I'm concerned.
It's also somewhat worrying if games "translate easily" to streaming, what the fuck does that even mean? Games built with the increased latency in mind, so you never need to react quickly and as such dumbing down gameplay even further? If it's something like that it's going to be pretty shit, because if this thing becomes popular it's going to bleed out into all the other platforms due to multiplats always pandering to the lowest common denominator.
Landon Perez
>streaming
It's dead Jim
Jason Sanders
Cool, yet another Google spybox they'll abandon after a year
Very pretty controller, but awful ergonomics. 3/10 flashy, but not functional.
Connor Young
>Ubisoft >Sega >1st party So one of the single worst companies in gaming, a company that will probably just put up a bunch of Genesis ports, and a company that probably won't make anything worth playing? Yeah, they're going to take over the market.
It means phone games, lootboxes, and gacha shit. The takeaway from the patent shows that it's fully based around a subscription type service.
Landon Sullivan
>I hope it's some fan render and not the actual thing it's based on a patent filed by google
Joseph Morales
they did not we all knew MS was in for the long run google has abandoned too much shit and owns too many things and censors too many people i hope the next charlie hebdo happens in google/jewtube offices and homes massive carnage fuck google
Mason Bell
will be funny to watch flop
Kevin Cook
No consumer should want to normalize game streaming.
There's no real benefit to the consumer in it, but there's a lot of loss.
Brody Price
Looks good to me.
I think you guys are delusional. If this has Chrome OS, integration with Google Pixel, Chromecast, Google Home, etc, plus games, with 200ms lag, I see it doing quite well. Especially if it allows us to run triple A games on 8 year old hardware like the test last year did.
Tyler Bennett
Cloud computing has the potential to bring down hardware costs dramatically. If you have fast internet, like, 25mpbs, google has the market cap to do this.
It's entirely possible that this also drives more demand for faster and more reliable network speeds which could see a large change overall as companies start to adopt cloud computing more seriously.
You guys should stop calling this a flop and attacking the idea. You all fucking use Steam non-stop anyway and suck digital games/pirate games as it is and this just takes away the need for a 1500 dollar piece of hardware and 600 dollar graphics card. so don't go on about "streaming games is bad" or some garbage.
>kill google lol dude Google is literally never going to die. They're too powerful.
Liam Carter
That controller looks awful.
Gavin Adams
Consumers lose more under a system like this than they gain.
I'd rather buy a $300 box and buy games I play off it natively than pay to stream a game to a $50 box with input lag and variable video quality.
Let alone the issue of data caps and such that ISPs all over the states have been slapping on huge swaths of people to try to combat video streaming.
Our house has two adults, both stream moderately and we already use 85% plus of our 1 tb data cap each month. Streaming games is just stupid as fuck just for that cap, so long as it exists.
Nathan Ross
Anyone who thinks this won't do moderately well is braindead/delusional. They release a game console for 99.99 with controller that runs the newest games with high settings, even in 720p/1080p plus whatever else they fund... Console also functions as google home, and chromecast, with apps... It's going to dominate. It's essentially going to be a super cheap game console that anyone can use with regular high speed internet in America at least.
If you buy digital copies of games this is literally no different except it's being streamed so it'll be way beyond what other game consoles can do at 4 times the price.
Cameron Moore
To add to this, there's a huge huge HUGE issue with streaming games regarding longevity and preservation of media.
Since no one owns a copy of the software, once it's off the streaming service it's just gone.
Jace Taylor
You just sound kinda stupid to be honest. Normies don't give a fuck about any of this shit and will buy the cheapest google box with alexa functionality and triple A games. They don't even notice input lag to begin with.
Jacob Miller
>They release a game console for 99.99 with controller that runs the newest games with high settings, even in 720p/1080p >I don't know what game streaming is actually like.
Nathaniel Williams
It's hideous
Lucas Barnes
You sound kind of stupid because you didn't really bother reading any of that. They didn't say normies wouldn't buy it, they just explained what's bad for consumers with game streaming.
Wyatt Kelly
>and will buy the cheapest google box with alexa functionality >Google >Alexa You sound kinda stupid, to be honest.
There's literally nothing bad for consumers with streaming. You pick up and play wherever, on whatever hardware, and get on with your life. You don't sit there and hold your ass cheeks together because you experience 150ms of input lag and Assassin's Creed: Ass Quest is not going to be preserved when it's taken off GoogleFlix in 2 years. Holy fuck what will anyone do, that 20 dollars a month they paid was wasted, but it's okay to buy 200 dollars worth of steam games that disappear when your harddrive dies and when steam dies.
Jacob Gonzalez
>If you buy digital copies of games this is literally no different Uhh yes it is.
Cameron Collins
>Unga like Steam. Me think downloading games to dead hard-drive is good >Steam preserve games >Less lag, unga bunga.
>Me build 1500 dollar PC for 4k sleek gaming
Excuse me... I own the DIGITAL LICENSE to this game via Steam! Fuck Google!!! :)
>There's literally nothing bad for consumers with streaming. Aside from getting an objectively lower quality experience, losing agency over what your money purchased, and being a total nightmare for media preservation.
>but it's okay to buy 200 dollars worth of steam games that disappear when your harddrive dies and when steam dies. Oh, you actually are kind of stupid.
James Cox
jesus christ Yea Forums is autistic both sides of this argument are retarded
the unga bunga guy sounds like a retard but people are really saying preserving assassin's creed odyssey is important?
this google shit has the potential to help eliminate data caps and increase data usage/speeds for ISPs, as consumers demand more speed and more data.
Nathan Lewis
He's either a total retard or just trolling.
Ryan Hughes
>Aside from getting an objectively lower quality experience, losing agency over what your money purchased, and being a total nightmare for media preservation.
The reviews came in. A guy used a fucking 8 year old shit laptop and was able to run Assassin's Creed Odyssey in 720p with max settings with less than a second and a half of input lag. He said within minutes he was totally adapted and it felt seamless. He questioned how they would make first person shooters work, though, but said action adventure work quite well. And that was just a pre-rollout test on 8 year old laptop hardware with decent internet speed.
not to mention data caps are the same as netflix, it's the same as streaming media to your PC, like a movie.
and the whole "media preservation" thing is the dumbest shit imaginable. All forms of media perish. Discs rot, hard-drives decay, programmers lose their source code. There is no preservation of media and you're fucking retarded sounding. It's all a placebo you wrap yourself in a blanket with.
Kayden Wilson
>but people are really saying preserving assassin's creed odyssey is important? You can literally replace AC with whatever your favorite game is.
>this google shit has the potential to help eliminate data caps This has no capacity to cause a removal of data caps in the market. Data caps exist right now mostly to combat cord cutters leaving cable services owned by companies that are also ISPs. This changes nothing there and thus wouldn't ever cause those ISPs to give up on data caps.
Hunter Fisher
>with less than a second and a half of input lag. >Felt seamless Trolling it is.
Anthony Campbell
You guys are the total retards. You cling to a random system that provides you a digital license and think it's any different than a streaming service. It's not.
Ryan Johnson
Retarded it is.
Maybe RESEARCH the shit you post about. The future is streaming, of all media. Information and data will be accessed instantly from anywhere and it will be ubiquitous. Give your stupid shit up.
>Retard it's one normal console one streaming one If it was a normal console we'd have had retail leaks by now, it's going to be purely digital/download/streaming nonsense, not a proper console at all.
Owen Perry
lmao you can't get traffic on minds so you come here???
Connor James
>implying dumb console niggers give a shit Reminder that they'll play choppy sub 30 fps garbage and claim that 30 fps is silky smooth.
Ethan Thomas
>"Titanium" is more powerful than Xbox One X What's the purpose of that kind of hardware when you've got that kind of streaming service? What's the purpose of that kind of steaming service when you've got that kind of hardware locally?
chirst looks like typical minimal 5oy-fornia design
Xavier Miller
Are you retarded? Are you?
Logan Stewart
>streaming
god no, I bet all their games will be digital only anyway. if the games also come in physical copies I will be genuinely interested and excited to see a new console but not if it's full digital and/or streaming
Alexander Butler
This is the last "console" controller google did Yes, that is a home button instead of a pause button
>Console keeps its microphone on at all times. >Advanced AI scripts detect if your language at home constitutes holocaust denial >Automatic bans from the console for 1 week if the console gets a positive Hard pass.
Jaxon Torres
Let your wallets hit the floor Let your wallets hit the floor Let your wallets hit the floor Let your wallets hit the *ting* *TING*
Aiden Adams
>Normies don't give a fuck about any of this shit Normalfags may be stupid, but even they know the difference between 25ms input delay and 150ms input delay, much like how they can tell that 20 tickrate leads to unreliable hit detection, and how they can tell that 50 decibel sounds are more quiet than 60 decibel sounds. You'd need hardcore indoctrination to make people fail to notice the difference.
Hunter Foster
Steam is shit. They've started drinking the social justice kool-aid. DRM free is the only option now.
Jordan Long
You could send the image compressed and the titanium decompresses it on the fly, it could save cost on the streaming side and needs a powerful CPU to work, most likely the cloud computing only handles the GPU computing while the rest can be done in the CPU.
Jacob Nelson
some stupid piece of shit creates a mockup render that is obviously badly designed compared to the patent everybody reacts negatively because they believe it is the real deal this is what you get for having easy mobile internet access
Bentley Phillips
If it really is a dedicated streaming device then I don't know if it'll take off. Not even mainstream game journos support the expansion of game streaming.
Jayden Martinez
Ubisoft fucking supports everything lol. They even supported this third world exclusive console in Brazil.
Gabriel Parker
Nah, Microsoft definitely had a shot since PC gaming was big in that era, but the PS1 and upcoming PS2 were taking developers away from the PC. Microsoft just wanted to keep developers using directx so that is why they made the xbox. I think their new philosophy going forward is going back to the original idea of using the xbox as a way to get you into using Microsoft tools. If we get xbox gamepass on other devices then Microsoft will clearly be ahead of Google in this new streaming world.
Joseph Robinson
and so it begins the creation of the biggest cancer of gaming. Lord have mercy on us all.
Ryan Flores
It's real, but like everything else, the news is blowing it up to cause controversy. It's probably a group of 5 students who decided this and the news wants to be like GODDAMN TRIGGERED MILLENNIALS
Jayden Allen
We've been here before, and it was shit. Streaming games is and always will be about as sensible an idea as watching a low-res stream of a theatrical play, and phones are made for chatting and will always lack the necessary inputs to enable engaging gameplay while being ideal for cookie clickers and gacha shit. This cycle will be no different.
Asher Rivera
>Steel >Titanium Nigga google is not gamefreak. That's retarded as fuck name. Even several nukes in US soil won't kill (((them)))
why do they trying to push streaming so hard? Cloud processing is other thing and kinda cool, but theres no latency low enough for comfortable gameplay via actual streaming.
Looks like a controller made for mobile phones not a console
Joseph Adams
It's a console from Google, sooooooo....
Jeremiah Thomas
Streaming consoles are a just a phase. Eventually you'll stream on your TV and tablets.
Ryder Roberts
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
Ian Watson
If this ever takes off then I'm seriously done with gaming forever.
Jason Bell
Why does that controller look better and more promising
Aiden King
So dumb phoneniggers can play them, as for latency google doesn't give a single fuck about whether it's good or not, they just want dumb phoneniggers to hand over more money.
you're both right but for different reasons. streaming games is bad because it means they can't be cracked and uploaded elsewhere for preservation. and also your copy of the game is on their servers which means no modding. but for your average normie who couldn't give a shit about preserving a game or modding it for longevity, he is right in that the rights to the game via his streaming subscription aren't any different to his rights to the game as a digital license.
Nathan Richardson
>if the product end up being bad them is gonna fail do you know how often good advertising makes shit products successful?
Justin Gutierrez
if you nuke China and USA this will not weaken Google.
Colton Lopez
>having any faith in the garbage produced in the Play Store It’s going to be Ouya 2.0.
Adam Thomas
That looks unergonomic as fuck.
Mason Morgan
this looks like it was designed by some 50 year old woman who doesnt play video games
Asher Ross
that not how anyone would make a controller look in 2019 lying faggot
That shit is gonna ease up in the next year or two, or those services will discover that they will lose internet on top of phone and cable when 5G hits.
My ISP has already removed data caps and is in the process of upgrading their infrastructure to fiber optic lines.
Jose Sanchez
i assume the idea is that you can buy the console if you want to play the games without the input lag, or you could stream them if you don't want to buy the console. microsoft is taking this approach with xbox software now, too.
Dominic Thompson
If it doesn't have decent Japanese support, it's just another Xbox. In other words, a worthless piece of shit.
Jason Barnes
>it's literally just an Ouya but it's going to cost more money
Jason James
>portable as in 'you can carry it in a case from point A to B" where the fuck is 4DS Nintendo?
Elijah Cook
I can't fucking stand it when companies stamp their logos on literally everything. Imagine if Xbox used the Windows logo instead.
Judging by this, they're probably going to stamp their name on it to. >We welcome you, the Google Box >the Google Con >the Google Homecon >the Google Moose >the Google Sphere
Kayden Peterson
Actually I do own the game itself since I can crack it at any time if anybody tries to fuck with the license. That is the difference between owning a game and just having a license. You can't do that at all if the game is streaming only, and when they decide to stop hosting it, you can NEVER play it again.
Gavin Thompson
>Google >console + controller >from the cult of a company that all it does is autistically screech at their president and censor shit on their video-sharing website
No thanks, they can go fuck themselves. But hey goy it makes sense that they don't know how a proper controller looks like. They're a fucking cult. Too bad we're autismos and use their shitty search engine and browser.
Christian Anderson
Nigger, paid online took off with the Shitbox. Microtransactions took off but people crying about it. Streaming will unfortunately be the future and people will deal with it because we as consumers are fucking faggots who can't vote with their wallets.
Lucas Reyes
There will always be demand for traditional PC gaming because people like to customize their games. Even if some games are streaming only, I think most will still be downloadable on PC. Nvidia and AMD have to keep selling their video cards somehow.
