Ocarina of Time >Start of the game has slow pacing >Beyond the start it's the most consistently good experience
Majora's Mask >Dungeons aren't too great >Day mechanic creates one of the most unique Zelda games
Windwaker >Too much cut content leaves the base game lacking >Nice art design
Twilight Princess >Wolf form and it's segments suck >Best story events/unique gameplay moments
Skyward Sword >Too much handholding >Has some pretty good dungeons
Breath of the Wild >Too little variety (enemies, quests, story...) >Awesome engine that made a lot of gameplay elements intuitive; has a lot of future potential
Only played like three but here they are: Ocarina of Time: >Enemies too easy >memorable bosses
Majora's Masc: >reusing the whole npc cast of OoT
Twilight Princess: >many dungeon items were useless outside of their territory >great fighting mechanic
Bentley Edwards
>Ocarina of Time Great sense of pacing and development, but on the whole it's too straightforward and there isn't much worthwhile side content >Majora's Mask By far the best atmosphere and setting in a Zelda game and the real time schedule thing is genius, but it suffers the opposite of OoT where there isnt enough meaningful "main quest" stuff. 75% of the game is side quests. >Wind Waker Beautiful graphics, but sailing is dull and the game feels unfinished in it's back half. >Twilight Princess Some of the best items and dungeon designs in the series, but the game is too brown and edgy for it's own good. >Skyward Sword Flying is fun, and the sword controls work surprisingly well. Fie sucks and the setting/story are boring. >Breath of the Wild Does open world freedom and exploration extremely well, but its lacking the dungeons and progression that Zelda is typically known for.
Joseph Price
You are spot on with the items comment for Twilight Princess.
Jayden Rodriguez
bumping so I can finish my post without thread dying
Aiden Morales
Ocarina of Time >Hyrule Field is rather empty >Pioneered 3D games and has some of the best cinematography and atmosphere in Zelda despite being decades old
Majora's Mask >It's too short >The time limit is fucking genius and makes the game very fun, and NPC scheduling is phenomenal
Wind Waker >Ocean is featureless and empty >Pseudo open world that gives a sense of grandeur and freedom, and seamless transitions between island locations
Twilight Princess >Frustrating beginning >Great atmosphere in my opinion and very good dungeons and bosses for the most part
Skyward Sword >Didn't play
Breath of the Wild >Too little variety in enemies and Korok puzzles, and too many Shrines are tests of strength or Blessings without very substantial lead-ups >Deepest gameplay and best engine in a Zelda game to date
Ryder Cook
>tp >Great story I think you mean you liked MIDNAS story. Link is a secondary character For all intensive purposes
Nathaniel Stewart
Yeah wind waker had like 5 dungeons cut or something crazy like that.
Juan Ross
Ocarina of Time: >The overworld isn't terribly fun to navigate or move through >Well-paced, consistently good dungeons
Majora's Mask: >The focus on the NPCs makes the game a bit of a slog to play... >...but the cycle system is interesting and a lot of the characters are memorable
Wind Waker: >The overworld is even less fun to navigate and move through >Beautiful and distinct to look at
Twilight Princess: >Wolf >Interesting melancholic, nostalgic tone that fits its Ocarina of Time-wank (weird to think there are far more years between TP's release and now than between OoT and TP)
Skyward Sword: >Bleh >Bleh
BotW: >Boring, tepid game design systems >Basic movement and navigation through the overworld is more engaging than in prior 3D Zelda games
Elijah Powell
Ocarina of Time >The framerate is so shit that the already slow game feels like I'm constantly in molasses and as such I rarely get far when trying it out > I love the art/music
Majora's Mask >The framerate is so shit that the already slow game feels like I'm constantly in molasses and as such I rarely get far when trying it out >Very cool atmosphere
Windwaker >Sailing around endlessly searching for what little fresh content is there >Looks fucking beautiful
Twilight Princess >Game starts really slowly >Once it gets going its hard to put down
Skyward Sword >Motion controls being unreliable and less kinetic than buttons/sticks means combat is a chore at best >Great puzzles
Breath of the Wild >At some point you're just too godlike and stacked with items to have anything be a threat which is a lot less fun than the beginning where every Bokoblin is scary shit, actually went out of my to not upgrade or buy much until 2 divine beasts in. >I fucking loved it and did everything.
Levi Lewis
All of them >to much emphasis on vehicle travel
Robert Bell
Ocarina of Time >Don't like the beginning child Link dungeons much >Game picks up once you get the Master Sword Majora's Mask >Don't care for most of the dungeons or time limit >Love that there's basically a side story told in through the side quests Wind Waker >Don't like the dungeons or sailing >Artstyle is good Twilight Princess >Wolf segments and Horse call segment >One of the better Zelda storylines and game opens up a ton more once you get the Master Sword Skyward Sword >Way too long and the game gives you way too much instruction, repetitive >Good dungeons and some neat items that get multiple uses Breath of the Wild >Awkwardly handled story and lacking dungeons >Lots of shit to do and finally broke tradition
James Clark
skyward sword is worth a play through
Ryder Hill
>Start of the game has slow pacing
Except it doesnt
Colton Morgan
I ain't buying a decade old console for one game
Hudson Long
Emulate user, it looks WAY better in HD and you can unfuck the controls with a simple guide
Aiden Morris
Why is impa such a fucking milf?
Evan Wright
>for all intensive purposes I might be wrong, but isn’t it “all intents and purposes”? Makes more sense that way
Jose Adams
It's a doggy dog world out there, user
Xavier Cook
>OoT Hyrule Field is utterly devoid of anything to do with everything worthwhile spread to the edges except for the ranch. Water temple is needlessly tedious because iron boots aren’t a z-item. >MM Only 4 dungeons. Wouldn’t be a problem if the first one wasn’t a complete cakewalk and the spider houses were more than hide and seek. >WW Another shortage of dungeons all with a massive lack of challenge. >TP The beginning of the game takes fucking forever and makes replaying a major pain in the ass. >SS Fucking everything except for the sand sea. >BotW Shrines are not organically implemented into the world. They’re too sterile and feel like a disconnect from the rest of the game. They’re also often the solitary reward for exploring dangerous areas of the world, which is really not all that worth it most of the time.
Liam Wood
I need to stop drinking at 9 am.
Josiah Ramirez
OOT: >Water Temple >I want to fuck the fish girl
MM: >Fucking retarded final boss that is so easy that it makes collecting everything a waste of time >I want to fuck the farmer girls
WW: >90% sailing an empty sea, only a few dungeons, too easy, didn't die a single time >I want to fuck the bird
TP: >Horrible music, retarded Wii controls, way too easy >I want to fuck the imp
SS: >Even easier than TP and WW what the fuck >I want to fuck the himecut
BotW: >Dumb combat + weapon breaking system means you should avoid combat entirely >I want to fuck the booty
Logan Long
Worse than Zelda 3D
Zachary Rodriguez
OoT >way too linear >easily the music, reducing the melodies to 6 notes so the player can play them and still be as memorable isn't an easy task MM >recycled assets >stone tower temple is the pinnacle of 3d dungeons in the series Windwaker >half assed later third of the game >characters make you care TP >first half feels like a tech demo >midna is easily the best sidekick SS >slow paced and overall uninteresting setting >i guess groose
Leo Cook
Man I’m clinically retarded I forgot the compliments. >OoT All the other dungeons are masterfully crafted and are some of the best 3D dungeons >MM 3 day cycle allows for the NPCs to truly feel alive and immerse you in the world. >WW Exploring the ocean actually feels like an adventure. >TP Swordplay is the best in the series and has the best final boss sequence yet in the series. >SS The sand sea is one of the best areas in any of the 3D zeldas. >BotW The world feels organic and exploring never gets old.
Daniel Brooks
OOT >Dull fields >Grear dungeons with okay bosses MM >Lack luster dungeons >Great npc's and quests, also great day and night cycle WW >Barren sea and some dungeons are a chore towards the end, you will never die >Great bosses and interesting plot Tp >Boring start that's longer than kh2 >Best items in the 3d series SS >Too fucking easy, one note characters >I honestly cant think of an objective plus this game has Botw >Also super fucking easy after hour 3 >Looks great and has memorable npc's
Angel Carter
>too linear Thats TP my dude
Nathan Thompson
I meant more story moments like the dual on the bridge or the wagon escort. Stuff that felt different from the normal gameplay.
Logan Sanchez
Ocarina of Time >too many fucking keys >pretty straightforward and should be played by anyone that likes video games
Majora's Mask >the first hour of the game and the fact that some shit is very cryptic >Best dungeons, music, and overall gameplay
Thats pretty fucking good, the Links actually follow the meme.
William Scott
If there's a Switch rerelease I might get it. I hate dealing with the censor bar and don't like how the wii remote feels. I'd emulate it if I could
Parker Hall
>Boring start that's longer than KH2 If you mean Ordon Village, that can be done in like an hour on subsequent runs. If you're including all 3 wolf segments then I guess I see what you mean
Hunter Nguyen
I made it with /n/ in mind
Parker Gomez
Ocarina of Time >Item management kinda sucks sometimes. >Everything is pretty good and for better or worse it lays foundations of characters, world building and mechanics for the next 3D Zelda games. Majora's Mask >I don't know why but I never want to come back to play this Zelda. >Bizarre as fuck, the first playthrough is one of the most memorable experiences I've had in a videogame. Windwaker >Short/cut content with a lot of padding. >SOUL, that is: enjoyable characters, art and atmosphere. Twilight Princess >Soulless slogfest trying to be OoT 2.0 >Fun sword techniques (wasted on the easiest Zelda ever). Skyward Sword >Too straightforward, linear and limited. >Very clever use of items/puzzles. Breath of the Wild >Combat is bad by being either useless, not rewarding or nonexistent in dungeons. Low enemy variety. >The adventure feeling is fucking amazing. Always makes me want to keep exploring further.
Its probably because you cant experience it in any sort of new way on subsequent runs like most zeldas
Luis Jenkins
They're all like that. I don't really have strong criticisms against OoT.
Landon Thomas
Yeah i mean the time it takes for you to go to hyrule field, sorry for being vague.
Noah Fisher
Twilight Princess
Christopher Wright
I'll be honest in that I really don't like the first hour of the game, but it's worth it because after that Majora's Mask gets so good
Cameron Bennett
Ocarina of Time >Combat is basic >Fishing Majora's Mask >first 3 days >world is dense with things to do Wind Waker >triforce hunt >artstyle Twilight Princess >every dungeon after water temple is disappointing >the Spinner was fun Skyward Sword >everything >except environments were nice Breath of the Wild >Huge Open World >Some shrines are good
How do you define linear? Because OoT is the least linear of the bunch in term of story progression and even dungeon progression aside from botw obviously. But if all you are looking at is how you go from forest to castle to mountain and so on I suppose I can see it being "linear" compared to WW despite the fact that WW railroads forward with little choice a shit load more
Alexander Nguyen
It's not just the beginning (which is kinda slow but nothing compared to TP or SS), but the whole game. I wish I could erase it from my memory and play it again for the first time.
Ayden Ortiz
>tp >I think you mean you liked MIDNAS story. Link is a secondary character For all intensive purposes Nigger, Midna IS the Twilight Princess. If you liked her story, you like Twilight Princess's story
Then yeah, I see what you mean. Especially compared to OOT >Every dungeon after Water Tenple is disappointing Highly disagree. That's when the dungeons in TP started getting really good.
Tyler Russell
The second playthrough was better for me, since I did everything and hence was able to see the whole story
Bentley Brown
I can understand that from the 3D side I suppose, but ALBW is so fucking good.
Jaxon Baker
Ocarina of Time >Hyrule Field is pretty bland. Also, the days end in like 2 minutes. >Ganon Castle is still one of the best dungeons in the series Majora's Mask >I don't like that there are literally 4 main dungeons. >Transformations adds a very unique take on the series that hasn't been topped Windwaker >Not enough meaningful content, also no underwater Hyrule >The great sea setting was amazing Twilight Princess >It starts so slow, I have to force myself to play through it because it fucking sucks, and the HD remaster didn't fix this >Has the best final arc of any Zelda game I've played Skyward Sword >The graphics are bad, even for Wii standards, didn't like the art direction >GOAT theme and story Breath of the Wild >Only 4 dungeons, can't craft my own weapons and gear in a survival game >Hyrule Castle is the best dungeon in the series
Well can you not see how the entire time they tried to Link and his friends/family was nearly completely pointless due to the fact after like hour 5, maybe 6? You never hear from those fuckers again.
Jaxon Brooks
Should I replay twilight princess? It was released when I was a horny teen so I never finished it. I have literally no memory of it besides getting through what I assume was about 70% of it. It looks the most straight forward and I recently got a wii and added homebrew stuff.
David Foster
Except they're active on the sidelines in the game throughout most of it after saving most of them. You see them go back home by the end of the game, the baby opens up a shop and even opens a branch in Castle Town through a side quest, the other kids help the Zora prince recover, and the game literally gate keeps you from progressing with the story near the end so you can help one of them get her memory back I don't see any reason not to
Jose Bailey
I would replay it. Just be warned the game basically is divided into three sections: a very dull start, an average first three dungeons, and then a good rest of the game. The early dungeons themselves are fine but the game forces you to be a wolf half the time in the over world until you complete them.
Nicholas Jackson
Also replaying it right now, I hate how I can't warp when people are nearby. BotW Link doesn't give a fuck.
Nathan Rivera
OoT >Water Temple lock >Nostalgia
MM >Gyorg fight >Dungeon Design is top tier.
WW >Fewer dungeons >Exploration is pretty open ended
TP > Pacing is kind of slow > Midna introducing me to the love of shortstacks.
SS >Never played, but muh Goom Groomps >Never played, but muh Zelda Memes
BotW >Getting lost sometimes trying to find just one more shrine/whatever >Intricately designed world where systems interact with one another for emergent experiences.
Kevin Howard
Check out the cutting room floor's page on it. It's incredibly interesting.
Jeremiah Brooks
OOT >I can't fuck Link
MM >I can't fuck Link
>WW The great sea is fun, intuitive, or clever, and the fact that some fanboys actually defend it is absolutely staggering.
>TP I can't fuck Link
>SS Link is ugly
>BOTW I can't fuck Link
Hunter James
You can warp if people are nearby and you're in wolf form, if I recall correctly
Luke Rogers
Yeah, it is the transforming that blocks it. BotW NPCs just seem to give less fucks in general.
