It wasn't nonexistent because it existed enough for you to comment, you're just a cornball. Some story points are just what they are and it isn't bad storywriting for all of them to be fleshed out, it was forecasted as an important part of the story, but the more you learn about arden and what's ... legit going to happen whether you like it or not... the more you realize it was nothing more than a political expediency and she was nothing more than a childhood friend with whom you have nostalgic longing for. It isn't a badly done part of the story.

XV hurts because it had all the potential to be great.
But it was let down by the whole development team who didn't know what they were doing and the game was just a test ground for them to develop their shitty engine and gather know-hows for open world type of game.
The ending was kino as fuck, but the game didn't deserve it
