Why the fuck is this just not as enjoyable as the first game? Every time I start it, it has better everything. Yet something just feels off about it. Anyone else get this feel?

Yes I can't put my finger on it but somehow it's better but worse than the first game.

It's too bright, a lot of the levels are in daylight. Dunham had daylight levels too but the town was gray as fuck either way.

There is overall too much exposition. The first levels are also kinda meh.

Story-wise it's also less motivating. You already dealt with the villain as Daud in the DLC, and even then, the character you didn't pick is just turned into stone, not killed, so the "vengeance" angle is less pronounced. In the first game you were actually "dishonored" because everyone thought it was you who killed the Empress. In Dishonored 2 only morons would believe Delilah or whatever her name was.

Dishonored 1 has the comfy Hound Pits Pub with new stuff after each mission and all these sidequests that are interconnected and alter the world state. It feels like it reacts more to your actions than D2

I disagree, just sneaking through those levels feels amazing. The sheer amount of opportunities to fuck with guards and do weird shit. It's a great game, even though the characters weren't as interesting as in the first one.

I think a lot of things like these add up to it feeling like a slog; a lack of narrative focus. Personally, I don't feel there was enough (any) characterisation in the Emily-Corvo-Empire axis before you have to save her.

D2 is overall better than 1 (nothing more kino in vidya to this day than the moving mansion and the time travel level) and has better ideas but they fucked up the story by bringing back Delilah again. They literally do the same shit twice, for no reason.

It doesn't help that Emily looks like shit and is boring. Death of the Outsider had similar issues - amazing level design and gameplay coupled with an utterly awful story, but I liked Billy more than anyone from D2. It's just a shame she looks like an already ugly person after a heinous crack cocaine addiciton.

I mean... You know Corvo and Emily fucked.

There's less novelty and the story is much worse and rehashed. That aside, the game is better.

Dishonored 3 set in Tyvia when?

Dishonoured 2 sold pretty well so it's getting a third game no doubt.

No, it didn't.

Did it not?

It did not.

Switching engines slightly modified the feel of the movement, but the change was for the better to get rid of the Tencent spyware that now comes with UE4.

Or maybe you just preferred the first game's environments.

player is too powerful imo

Even without the Outsider's mark?

this but also set in Pandyssia
I would love to see more filth and disease

>runs like shit
>maps besides the mansion are bland as fuck
>shitty reused villian from the first game
>karnaca is boring in general
>same protagonists as the first game
>still cant replace the sword with any other power/weapon for more combo variety

DOTO had amazing gameplay
I'm so fucking mad that we only got to use the void blade for a couple of missions, it was fantastic

I liked that they finally stopped giving a fuck about the morality system, any sort of restriction on your lethality (especially when the game is giving you shitloads of tools to kill with and makes it really pleasurable) is just bad game design, imo.

Imagine if the first Deus Ex went full retard and actually decided that just because JC Denton kills terrorists who actively try to kill him back, he can't make any sort of positive changes during the Area 51 final mission and locks him to the Illuminatti ending. Fucking retarded.

Yeah, very underrated game around here (mostly cause of /pol/tards bitching about niggers)

It adds to the replayability. Stuff like the final level being completely different was awesome and that shit got toned down a ton in the later games cause of shitters like you.

How about tying the level change to an actual gameplay choice?
>hurr he fucking kills people who are, in 99% of the cases, evil assholes themselves and won't hesitate to kill him back on sight, he must be an evil retard edgelord who drinks blood on a daily basis

I just complete 4 entire playthroughs of the game, low chaos and high chaos with both Emily and Corvo.
I honestly didn't like it at first when I was playing as Emily but the moment I got Corvo again, it felt almost just as good as the first game.

I usually kill and spare people at what theyve done. Take those three guards throwing that guy into the wall of light. I kill the two doing it, the one on the sidelines watching I spare. Mainly because I wouldn't want to mess with those murderers.

>killing peacekeepers because "HERFDERF BUT THEY JERKS" during a crisis situation doesn't destabilize a country because ???
The chaos system was already generous enough with how many people you could kill before getting the bad ending that it only became an issue if you go out of your way to murder or if you're so unabashedly trash at stealth and escape that you end up fighting literally every guard in the level.
You morons post this exact argument in every iteration of this thread and I still can't tell if it's b8 meant to bump or if you actually believe this.

Eh, I guess you're right, fair enough. I still prefer the game letting me murder people indiscriminately like DoO did.

>Force me to play as the boat bitch no one liked in the DLC
>They knew no one would play her if people could pick Daud so they didn't even put him in.

I haven't played the DLC, fuck them

Killing people in Dishonored 1 made the city worse cause dead bodies draw more rats and all the people you kill except the conspirators were just guards trying to earn a living

It was also annoying that she was moderately attractive in Daud's DLC and then they just made her look like a crack addict.

Alot of people in games that do this act like some moral God. Everyone in this thread knows if they were a guard in Dishonoured and they had a wife and three kids to feed, they'd probably be a bit of a cynical arsehole while the city dies and everyone is starving or dying of plague.

You're missing out
She isn't all that unlikable and doesn't "chimp out" like you'd expect her to
The gameplay and level design are worth it

>runs like shit

They fixed this recently right? denuvo is gone might reinstall and give it a shot.

The /pol/tard doesn't deserve good gameplay. Let him rot.

The fact they re-used the moronic DLC villain again with the same motivations is absolutely asinine

I love 2. It takes everything good about 1 and improves upon it. I have never heard anyone leverage any complaints against it that make any sense.

As I said before, the novelty wore off and the story was objectively much shittier. Nothing nonsensical about that.
But I agree with you that it's better overall.

I still don't understand why.

I mean I didn't mind her in the DLC but it was just lazy.

denuvo making games run bad is a meme. That's only the case for a few games which it was the case. The reason it ran like shit was because it wasn't optimised very well. It was quite clear that the game was built mostly with consoles in mind. That said the patches they added after launch made it way better (though still far from perfect). If you have a 970 or better GPU the game should run fine.

Gameplay and levels are better but the story is complete trash because it's the same rehashed shit

The first one feels more whole there's not a whole lot going on in Karnaca, no NPCs as good as Slackjaw or Granny Rags offering quests.

Dishonored needs Co op and pvp missions, something like 1vs1, a player has to fulfill a mission while other has to find him out and protect the objective would work well.

I just want to say how much I hate morality systems that punish you for killing in games with extremely vast amount of fun options to kill
e.g. metro last light, mgs5, dishonored 1+2

Dunno dude, I still had problems with performance even with settings down to medium-low. I had to turn on the adaptive quality option to even be able to play it at constant 60fps for the most part when I was in outside areas.

I really need to get around to finishing Death of the Outsider. Really fucking good level design
