you have to look for certain things. the biggest thing for me is if a game seems like it has rigorous, improvisational gameplay. i don't even know how some of you guys even follow any sort of video game media/journalism except browsing here

Forum posts on official websites and reputable fansites by posters whose accounts are old enough to be made during the last game or last good game of that series.
General opinion of people here for anything besides shitty popular multiplayer series and single player console exclusives belonging to a popular franchise.
Normalfaggot opinions taken with a grain of salt since they’re more easily immersed.
The sheer amount of content in the game vs the last game in the series if applicable.
