Now that most journos are soulless shills, you can't trust official reviews anymore, so where do you go? Personally, I usually look for the user review average. If the score is good, then I'll buy it. If it's mixed, then I'll read a couple of reviews to see what exactly people don't like about it, and decide if that's important to me or not. If it's mostly negative, I don't even bother. If it's popular, I also see what people here are saying about it. If they say it's good, I'll keep an eye on it. If they say it's boring, I'll pass. If it gets made fun of non-stop for being hilariously bad, then I'll buy it ironically once it goes on sale.
How do you find out if a game's good before buying it?

Just go in blind, enjoy the game, come to Yea Forums and learn that you're supposed to hate the game because some people on the internet said so.
Pre-release game footage, demos, Youtube reviews, general gut instinct. I know what I like and what I don't like and I know to avoid what I don't like. Demos are usually the best way to sell me on something I'm on the fence on, though.
Don't kill yourself
just pirate the fucking game
if you enjoy it and think it's a good game, then buy a copy
that's all you fucking need to do.
If I'm interested I'll play a demo, if there's no demo I'll find a torrent
There is no excuse for not having playable demos, none.
>he hasn't played games long enough to tell good from bad
Life is precious and should be spent with the ones you love
Years of experience.
The studio in a good indicator, then you look up the staff, just to be sure.
If the staff has some big names that worked on games you liked, chances are you'll like it too.
Then when the gameplay videos drop and make the call based on what you see.
That's for singleplayer games.
Multiplayer games are shit in general.
G-goodbye anons...
Here's your waifu from their new game. Say something nice about her.
And here's the second waifu.
Gee, Bill, why does your mom let you have two waifus?!
you have to look for certain things. the biggest thing for me is if a game seems like it has rigorous, improvisational gameplay. i don't even know how some of you guys even follow any sort of video game media/journalism except browsing here
Forum posts on official websites and reputable fansites by posters whose accounts are old enough to be made during the last game or last good game of that series.
General opinion of people here for anything besides shitty popular multiplayer series and single player console exclusives belonging to a popular franchise.
Normalfaggot opinions taken with a grain of salt since they’re more easily immersed.
The sheer amount of content in the game vs the last game in the series if applicable.
I still can't tell if this artist is Japanese or not. Her art's not bad, but it has this soulless quality compared to other nip artists.
