we will not get better animation until they decide to break backward compatibility. There are more than 800 pokemons now. National dex was a mistake.

Daniel Long
Battle revolution had over 400. Just reuse those and make new ones for the other 400. Surely doing the SAME amount of work 10 years later on a stronger platform should be possible
Jacob Turner
>that completely flat ground does gamefreak have no dignity?
>They’re STILL doing the lame crap of Pokémon just doing an animation and causing an attack to happen 5 feet away from them This has always been the case youtube.com/watch?v=N_knmNJIoNk
Jonathan Powell
>graphics and animation are the same thing >having worse animations than an N64 game is acceptable
It's not a billion dollar franchise because of the games, it's a billion dollar franchise because they've got nearly a thousand cute characters to make merchandise for. The live action movie will reel in more money than Pokemon sword/shield ever could.
Lincoln Ross
>Meanwhile Yo-kai Watch has an entire semi-action sub-game built into it where you can play as every single befriendable Yokai
>implying a kid as young as you even know what an N64 game looks like
Lincoln Morales
>everything's still washed out as fuck fucking gamefreak
Adrian Wilson
>You try animating all that shit. It wouldn't be difficult, especially given all the resources GF has. Just make body specific animations for each body type of pokemon and apply them as they fit. You don't need unique animations for every single move for every pokemon.
Mason Richardson
>I want to see an animation of the pokémon slowly walking over to the other side of the battlefield each time they attack!
Good job outing yourself who doesn't actually play the games. Turns take too long as it is.
>5th gen babies trying to pretend they aren't children themselves Fuck off xXxsephirothxXx96
Hudson Bennett
Fuck the animations, why do they keep using these ultra compressed sound effects? Shit sound slike it's coming straight out of a goddamn Gameboy speaker
Fucking this, when did Pokefags become style over substance? The games would become even more slow and tedious with all those long ass animations thrown in. Zoomers need to get out
Andrew Diaz
>Good job outing yourself who doesn't actually play the games. Turns take too long as it is.
Hmmmmm. Maybe its like they should change the way the game plays and make it more like the anime where the Pokemon have their own wills and can act on their own and you just give orders to them as the battle plays out in real time.
Cameron Hughes
When Game Freak stopped caring about postgame to focus on style and story but fucked those up.
Alexander Morgan
They streamlined animations because no one wants to watch the same long, overly detailed attack loop every battle.
In many RPGs there are even skip buttons to skip over long animation attacks which get used when you see the long ass animation for the 5th time in the same battle.
Bentley Rodriguez
The games are what keeps the series relevant. That's like saying the star wars movies don't matter because they sell a lot of toys.
Logan Kelly
Or just skip the walking part and show instantly each pokemons hurting each other face to face ? There's a lot of better options than the trash we're getting
Nathaniel Sanders
This. Skipping battle animations should be standard for all RPGs. I can't believe autists on here are bitching animations are simplified in Pokemon now. They really think watching the same drawn out fucking surf animation over and over is a good thing for already slow and tedious battles.
Oliver Long
How about being able to press a button to skip or fast forward animations?
Landon Ross
Same creator
Brayden Gutierrez
Yeah why should a billion dollwr franchise hire more people to make their product good when they can do the bare minimum instead
Brayden Rivera
>Put in a bunch of work for things people can skip.
Trust me. The animation is great the first time, and on the 10th random encounter, it's fucking horrible. Even letting it start and then having to skip it over and over is awful.
Carson Hill
The earth is flat you dingus
Carter Jackson
How about just emulating and playing Pokemon sped up like all the other retards if you want them to add highly detailed, long animations, but then just want them to be sped up.
>Battle Revolution That has the same fucking animations you stupid nigger. Use a bite move or a Psychic type move or a Water type move or a Fire type move or a Grass type move. They’re all the same as this. You just THINK it’s better because SOME physical attacks have the Pokémon shuffling a few feet, not even visibly approaching the other Pokémon, and then a hit occurring.
Carson Collins
>Develop intensive, graphic heavy animations and then let me turn them off.
>Btw, the guy I'm battling against has his animations off but mine are on. He has to wait for my animations to finish on my screen before we can continue the fight.
Guess what, you dumb nigger? That doesn't work if you're in multiplayer or dueling someone. Battle animations are forced on.
I don't want long ass tedious animations forced on to fight competitively.
Fuck you and fuck your time wasting flashy effects.
Jeremiah Hughes
This desu Graphics don't mean shit it's all about the experience babyyyy
Caleb James
There's a bigger problem with this image It basically confirms another generation of horribly broken single battles where you take turns pressing A until the other team is dead Double battles can't come to the mainline games fast enough Try imagining any other turn based JRPG (most of which have more depth per character) where you only play one character at a time fighting other single characters
Josiah Ross
Maybe Game Freak should be less shit and make off the default in multiplayer or let you play only with people with the same setting.
Matthew Parker
Wow it's almost like it's a Pokemon game
I think the problem with Zelda is temples, and the problem with Tetris is blocks. They should change that.
Also Mario still jumps in 2019? This confirms horribly broken single A taps to jump. Why would a game series keep it's playstyle?
Time to boycott.
Jordan Bell
>when did Pokefags become style over substance? Since forever considering that this franchise has 0 substance and it's still a glorified rock paper scissors? Lmao if they aren't investing in content or gameplay they could at least try to make this crap look decent.
Carson Cox
Or, maybe, instead of wanting to tack on a few minutes to each battle to watch the SAME FUCKING ANIMATION OVER AND OVER AND OVER ALL DAY, you should get less autism and realize long animations are fucking horrible.
BRO JUST TURN THE GRAPHICS OFF ALL YOU NEED ARE MENUS AND TEXT
Brandon Hughes
Correct.
Brody Thompson
The current animations are horrible anyway. They should already have the option to skip them without turning them off entirely.
Jack Kelly
C'mon, if we had Battle Revolution's animations you'd be complaining about how every battle takes about 5-10 minutes, you may not remember it well because BR was 10 years ago, but those animations were quite long for a Pokémon game.
If you were to have to watch all those animations every battle for about 30 hours you'd turn them off half-way through the game.
That game also has >151 Pokemon >absolutely no gameplay outside of the actual battles >less polygons and less smooth Stop ignoring other factors that obviously take away from the defense. Game Freak would literally take years to do special animations for every single Pokemon in the franchise and you'd still complain.
Owen Edwards
What's worse, the fact that pokécucks are justifying the lack of decent animations from a billion dollars company or the fact that they think that this shit gameplay is good enough to justify the lack of decent visuals?
Joseph Anderson
Just like the Digimon world games? No thanks, I enjoyed Digimon World Next Order for what it was, a Digimon raising game, but the battles got annoying and stressful more times than I wanted.
Ethan Morris
you could play pokemon with text only. probably would be more fun honestly
Eli Nguyen
>They streamlined animations because no one wants to watch the same long, overly detailed attack loop every battle. Then why the fuck did they invent Z-moves?
Nathaniel Diaz
one time attack per battle
Joseph Myers
>There's a lot of better options than the trash we're getting
And your proposal isn't one of them, people will instantly complain about "muh immersion" and how odd it looks watching the mon teleporting from one side of the stage to another.
Evan Martinez
If transitions to fights are fast and the framerate is consistent then I'm fine with the game looking rough. My issue is that it basically seems to be the same shit we got with sun and moon.
Dylan Thompson
Not if you put a modicum of thought into things >Remove text -> attack -> text format >Text appears at the instance of attack >Running up is always a dash with wind up -> lunge -> strike rather than showing a run cycle animation. This takes under a second to convey the movement. Faster than the current double kick animation that requires the Pokemon to turn around and hop twice. >Health bar drops as soon as impact is made >Any additional text appears as soon as impact is made There I fixed battles in Pokémon. Stop defending shit presentation as though presentation isn't a major factor in one's enjoyment of an RPG.
You know you could still have animations be both quick and elaborate, right?
Camden Roberts
what the fuck is that ground supposed to be? looks lower res than most ps1/n64 textures
Ryan Martin
No one's asking for long animations. But if Pikachu uses Double Kick, it should at least make a basic kicking motion, not just have the model bounce up and down.
Hunter Peterson
this game actually has animations, unlike the 3ds titles.
You can still just have pokemon do cool quick animations based on physical/special/punch/kick moves. They even did it with a few pokemon already in the 3DS era. The problem is that there's still a lot of effort not put into a lot of them, especially flying types.
>That game also has 151 Pokemon So has Lets Go, but they still have garbage animations, worse than any previously home console pokemon game ever.
Cameron Williams
So what's the excuse for lets go? It only had 150 pokemon. How come other rpgs can create unique animations for characters and enemies? Why does game freak get a pass just because it's pokemon?
Blake Bailey
It's literally exactly what I expected. Sun/Moon type baby shit again with the now-Switch-iconic 'washed out' graphics.
Connor Hernandez
Their idle animations and attack animations don't correspond to each other. They are independent from one another. This is student-level game design from the most profitable multi-media franchise on the planet.
Luke Miller
>Complains about animations >Posts a png not gif
Kids are fucking retarded these days
Connor King
it's still better than the models just moving up and down for each attack like in the 3ds games
Hudson Collins
Please god don't give us more levitating flying types
Dominic Green
>not wanting floating tampon whale shiggydiggy my dood
Charles Lewis
draqu is the most bog standard jrpg mechanics in existence.
there's no gimmick to it at all
Jose Young
Why doesn't Nintendo take full control of the development side of things and cut cost by firing around 70% of the GF staff outside of the essential people?
Aiden Hill
Quite frankly, I don't think turn-based RPGs benefit from extravagant/elaborate animations to begin with.
Connor Robinson
>attacking one point out of three reasonable ones I gave Awesome. >How come other rpgs can create unique animations for characters and enemies? Other RPGs don't have 807 creatures to handle (even more with the upcoming gen) + several different moves they each have
David Morris
isn't there an option to skip them in pokemon i remember on gba it had that option, haven't played since.
