Modern rap is very insular and they get their rhymes from each other. I groan every time I hear 'fast car' rhymed with 'nascar'. They have their own cliches and just repeat them ad nauseam. The ones who don't do this actually do read. Others are really just pretty smart and rhymes come naturally to them even if they're not great in much else, Lil Wayne comes to mind for me here.
