ill one up you
bump
What the fuck. Anyone that makes adaptions like this should actually receive the death penalty.
every penguin cover is kino and im tired of pretending otherwise
This is based and a highly relevant characterization of Pechorin tho
>MOMS GONNA FREAK
Even this shit?
the fuck
this
...he's pointing at us
That will be 12.99 + tip
This one’s up there.
New rule: No movie adaptation covers because they’re all cringe (with few exceptions) If you buy a movie adaptation book cover you are a cuckold.
I hate photorealistic book covers especially in fantasy. The only one that does it okay is Promise of Blood.
Yes that's kino and yes that gets me hard. What of it?
Lol
Looks like she has a bulge UwU
>Orwell predicted 9/11
Why tf did they get Pewdiepie for a book cover of some old russian novel.
did they really make a live action adaptation? whyyyyyyy
Cringe covers for a cringe book.
Can't believe this isn't fake lmao
This is based as fuck.
I was gonna post this one. Seriously hoping I someday come across this edition of the book so I can buy it and proudly display it on my shelf.
hate to break it to you user but there is in fact a black man in Othello
This is just a reminder that Wordsworth Classics covers are the worst covers ever.
bookstr.com
ITT: Based covers that got you filtered.
kek
in fact he also wears camo pants in the play
I can't explain how or why, but I'm certain that the CIA had something to do with this
>1 greek 1 horse
None of those are bad or cringe covers
>every *NYRB cover is kino and im tired of pretending otherwise
ftfy
Develop taste.
Wrong!
This one is actually cool. Doesn’t fit the book however.
looks like Jack White
All movie tie-in covers are trash. I passed up this one so many times in thrift stores because I hated it so much. I'm glad I waited for a good cover
Why would someone spend even one second to put this shit on the cover? Just leave it blank for God's sake
I own a box set that has a glossy tie-in edition of the first book and "nostalgic" covers with fake folds and creases for the sequels. A baffling combination of opposite extremes of tastelessness.
based tree insider.
Did the same back in ‘06
>Hey Paul!
This thread's about bad covers not the BEST covers!
Tfw no qt3.14 treegf
are all penguin’s brazilian books this retarded?
That's a man.
>"nostalgic" covers with fake folds and creases
I didn't know this was a thing and I hate it.
Unrelated but did you know they do this to guitars now too? You can buy a guitar "reliced" that comes with chipping paint and scratches straight from the factory. Pic related (is of a brand new guitar)
That cover is genuinely good. It's immediately recognizable.
That's a man
Thanks for the boner.
It’s a shame bc those guitars have nice parts
Dad got me these because he didn't want me fucking up his old hardcover copies. They'll be mine in time though.
>Story about son killing his father over priceless heirlooms that actually turn out to be cheap junk
Patent Pending®™
I’ll one up you
Yup I got my copy of the Road from a Goodwill with the movie tie-in cover. It had massive type too, my friend took one look at the dreadful thing and laughed at me :(
Photos instead of paintings or graphics on penguin books is so cringe.
Depends on the photo
my nigga looks like he's bouta have a good time
What happen in da cabin stay in da cabin
any cover that features an image from a film based on the book
Post a good one.
Not him but kind of like this one
Sue me
I’m him. I agree this one is good
Lenina does have my attention...FUCK I am too far gone coom-bros
You asked for it.
Make way to your king!
Hate this book, but love this cover, just perfect and THE cover art for this book, nothing else comes to mind.
Karamazov
>adaptions
This is the one I read in like 5th grade so I always had positive associations with it but looking at it now after so many years yeah, it is an odd illustration, lol.
Good, but there's an even better edition.
Gross
I loved this cover to bits, and still do, but the football or whatever it is takes from the magic a little. I thought it was just an emotional outburst, not catching a ball.
First one is kind of good, second one is meh, third is based.
Now show me one that isn't in black and white, and that isn't a statue.
>Look up Bernard actor out of curiosity.
It is the guy standing to the guy I'm guessing is John's left.
>Well, maybe he's short? Same height as Lenina on the cover...
He's 6ft...
Based
Cover sold for the book
I like how this cover depicts Bilbo as the chubby upper-classman he’s supposed to be. I also like how you can clearly see he’s got his hand on the ring in his pocket.
Very nicely done all around, lush colors and great texturing on the clothes
No way this was actually made
Hot
Frank, shut the fuck up. The only reason people recognize it is because you buy up all the ad space
literally "Reddit" - the book
I seriously hate this kind of new Sci-fi cover art. It reminds me of globohomo art and Tumblr in 2015 when the gender pronoun shit first popped up
Forgot pic
are you 12? they have been doing this to guitars for decades dumbass
Which one is the worst?
the entire far right section would be genuinely embarrassing to read in public
>illustrated
a-are all illustrations like the cover?
top right and top left.
user, I...
You absolute motherfucker
Kek
Bottom left is based italian cunny
Underrated game
When I was a twelve year old, the game did make me read this book. Ngl, this cover is actually amazing.
Based Dutch, Turks and Italians
Honestly these are pretty decent for movie covers. Good, straightforward shots rather than movie posters, no NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE, &c..
>&c
This cover is somehow even more offensive than the book's content
+ any other Pynchon novel that has this butt ugly style of cover. seriously, who fucking signed off on this shit?
>>Well, maybe he's short? Same height as Lenina on the cover...
>He's 6ft...
Do you think all three actors were actually standing next to each other when they took that photo too? Besides its weird how they got the title words to hang in the air above the actors heads too. And you would think the actors would be squinting with all that bright light around them, like owch doesnt their eyes hurt?! Hollywood be CRAZY magical!
No way they were this fucking lazy.
Why would you ever read Lolita in public? Are you a psycho?
quote possibly the most reddit thing ive ever seen
These are so bad they're actually kino
Sheeeeesh
is she in any feelies?
>who fucking signed off on this shit?
Martin Handford
Yeah my Dorian gray looks like dogshit.
Oh woaw that's really bad
Translating D'Annunzio is absurd. His baroque prose is wonderful in italian but it simply does not lend itself to a translation. Especially not in an insipid language like english.
>fake worn stuff
This is one of the worst indictment of our society I've ever seen. We're so lazy, spoiled and devoid of soul that we don't have the ability to earn things with time and effort anymore. We want them already usured.
This is the equivalent of buying olympic gold medals.
Imagine reading the second from the left in the middle or bottom right on a bus.
>i-it's high brow and Yea Forums approved, officer
>it hasn't been posted
Durling's edition of the Divine Comedy is the best one out there, with a good translation, side by side with the original Italian, and footnotes.
Only reason I haven't bought it yet is the tacky cover pictures. They look like shitty Dan Brown novels rather than classic works of western civilization.
lol just swim to shore
>ITT: Not a single actually bad cover
🤔
Fernanda Pussoa
>Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant
>Download And Play For Free Today, My Lord
lol
Let's suppose that each one of these cost $40 but you knew for a FACT they were by far the best translations available.
No kindle/e-book version, you have to buy them with this cover if you want to read the goat translation.
Would you?
I thinks these covers of Murakami's books are dogshit
I grinned
Top, second from left is the best.
Right hand side, middle and bottom are both paintings by Balthus, who probably was a Humbert.
English translations of Japanese literature tend to have really ugly covers, I've noticed.
>Is kino in your path
Whats wrong with this?
This is definitely of the best TV shows ever
kek, reminded me of that webm with the naruto music and that scene
kino taste
objectively bad covers but they’re still comfy for the memories alone
🤮
>Stuck in the Liffey with you...
>Booze, Sex and Hot Floury Potatoes... Those Dubliners are at it again!
>Liars, thieves, whores and priests... James Joyce sure knew how to throw a party! This relentlessly downbeat collection explores the very worst aspects of human nature, and doesn't leave out the juicy bits. It might not be in the best possible taste, but who doesn't want to get down and dirty in Dublin?
They actually managed to make it even worse than the book itself, which is pretty impressive. The chick is hot and acts pretty fine, looking at her is the only reason to waste your time on this.
The worst is the blue one in the middle row and the one right above it. They have absolutely nothing at all to do with the subject matter.
I think the least bad is bottom left. It's completely ugly but relatively tasteful and I think it captures the essence of the book quite well.
every single English version of this book sucks
Lets just say that light novels have come a long way since 2005.
It's a great cover, it's fucking hillarious.
>Turned Dante's nine circles of hell into the hottest game around
this one is alright though
How about a Russian one?
Actually a quality book though
Looks fucking awful on computer screen, but in real life it's not that bad. It's not good (at all), but not that bad.
my 1973 copy looks way better
hurts to look at
post the best LN cover
Bumperoni
I like Kafka on the shore, but that may the only one.
Looks like the label for some sort of spicy barbecue sauce
>When the cover looks good
>but the back is blurry, low-res shit
Terrible.
idk, i don't hate this one
Holy.fucking.shit
What about in other romance languages
>archvile
kek
Why did you hate it?
I hate that shit so much
His other books have similar covers, but more passable
This one sucks ass
the front of this one. dont worry, the innards are cringier!

Some editions are actually pretty nice, including the newer edition of crime and punishment. Plus imagine paying 3x more for a paperback by an author who is dead just for the cover?
I feel like that art style complements Pynchon‘a writing style
My ex left this in my house after we broke up and every time my eyes fall on it I get mad because I can't figure out if she really forgot it or had a statement to make about my future romantic life
Kino
I hated these covers as a kid but as an adult I actually think they're quite kino.
Lol
Someone please post the swedish cover of Hogg
>classic books with watermarked stock photos on every page to illustrate the actions
by god
I like em
very clean
the mishima ones are dogshit too
The only time relicing makes sense is when it is done on a restoration guitar. Maybe, you put on a new pick guard, and it looks way too bright, clashing with the rest of the guitar. It would make sense to treat it with some chemicals to make it duller.
Hey, that's the one I've got
Lmao underrated post
>Why did you hate it?
People act as if it is this enlightening piece of scattered spurts of genius philosophy and meditations and it's just Yea Forums-level doomer bemoaning about life and society in general. Lots of it read like random shitposts, the other as lacking in virtuosic talent to pull off what they are trying to evoke.
For the record, Portuguese IS my first language.
Literature as self help people are annoying.
I'm halfway through it. I think a lot of it is clever, the rest show the deep issues Soares (Pessoa?) had. It's like a more calm man from underground
This is based as fuck though
>pretty girl with dog ears
>but NOT muh 2D pretty girl with dog ears
>therefore it's trash
The day you become a man, possibly never or by the age of 50, you'll realize this is infinitely more attractive than some cartoon while still being incurably autistic material
Their faces are warped
Good, Mediocre, Good, Good, Terrible, Mediocre, Good, Good, Trash, Trash, Trash, Good, Mediocre, Mediocre, Good
The cover of this textbook bugged the shit out of me every time I had to open it, which unfortunately was a lot
what order
left to right, top to bottom,
The shit colors, the weird patterns and mosaics, the different fonts, the title in that weird, seemingly too thin and out of balance font, the lack of outline in the author's name, the contrast of blue and brown, everything. A catastrophe through and through.
and for the record I'm talking cover art, not the books themselves
i think the kafka one sucks and the underground one isn't so bad. wind-up is cute. otherwise i agree
I cannot stand "epic" book covers with hyper-realistic uncanny valley art and the bad grey-ish 3d text. especially if it has a war theme. just corny every time
I have this edition and I've always liked it.
this whole series of covers is horrid
What’s so bad about it?
I was always more partial to the older hand-illustrated Dune covers with freaky GIANT WORMS and HUGE SKULL CAVE rather than this computerized abstract stuff they're doing now.
I'm fine with photorealism in science fiction, but I just ask that the book cover just owns the contents inside. Cheesy space opera? LASER BLAST. At least its honest.
The absolute state
Hebrew LoTR is some of the worst I've ever seen
?
Least worst of the three
And the crown jewel
ok now this is epic
nigga this CANNOT be real
Yeah
lmao
Fucking disgusting
>Let us look each other in the face. WE ARE HYPERBOREANS!
It's like Where's Waldo. I like it.
Kek
It's a power move.
honestly both are pretty good
they don't belong in this thread
Looks like the label on your dad's cologne.
Cock
The Yassification of Big Brother
quite based
This goes hard no cap frfr
These arent too bad, ill take this over just an irl person any day
mass effect 3 ending
>Least worst
it looks like a photoshop tutorial
Mephistopheles t-posing on the cover of this cheap ass copy of Faust that i bought
Eyes bulging with imagined riches
Hey, fucking retard, you do realize that he was responding to someone that said post the best LN cover? Even if he was being ironic, your post still makes zero sense.
I'll let it pass because it has female feet. It looks a bit like a 3D model though.
good thread
Great cover, doesn't belong in this thread
I made this image over a decade ago. Feels weirdly good to see it posted after all this time, and after I stopped coming here so often.
I wonder if anyone saved the Tao Lin covers I made.
I like it but author should have used a better camera
these are cool wtf
font choice is the worst part about it, otherwise its alright
