40 tons argument is super old and outdated af. Goku was literally shadow boxing with 40 tons on. He lifted Piccolo when he turned giant at the 23rd Budokai which was better than 40 tons.
Plus, dbz verse uses ki to augment their physical strikes to hurt each other who can tank planet level attacks early on. Counting DBS feats, Goku is well into universe level already by the end of the beerus arc and then he gets stuck there because DBS's writing is garbo.
