That's exactly why. Persona 5 and Fire Emblem Three Houses both were huge hits with the same kind of alternating between life simulation and battle sections, if there was a time for the franchise to make a comeback it was now.

The Visual Novel part is now in 3D space and is more RPG-like, but it's still lots of talking with choices.
The battle system as changed from brain-dead TRPG to a simple action RPG.
It's not an otome game, it's a male protagonist(at least in the game).
Soft-reboot. It's still a sequel, but Sega is trying to get newcomers into the series and many changes to the game systems.
