Ku Fei on the front page!

Yesterday Negi smooched some more girls, the Governor-General is still a prick and Negi blew his top.

>Even a high daylight walker would be hard-pressed to recover from such a fate.
Forget the fact that it's revealed just who true high daylight walkers are, in UQ, Eva is, like, THE ONLY "true" vampire in existence, so how or why does anyone think they can compare how strong or resistant-to-death a vampire is???

As much as we, the privileged readers of Negima that we are, know that Eva could chi blast or something her way through that monster pit no problem (never mind some genius strategy otherwise), it's always odd to me people think they know about vampire in the Mundus Magicus world. When it's just Eva.

High Daylight Walker is just a category of vampire, we can infer others exist in the universe.

the best

Except there's a flashback in UQ where Eva stops a noble vampire working with a politician in the Magic World. So I'm sure they're familiar with actual vampires. Even if you insist UQ came after, the fact the Lifemaker used the basis of a pure blood vampire to turn Evangeline implies they always existed in the universe even if Ken didn't give them explicit spotlight.

Attached: 00122.jpg (1153x1730, 901K)

I agree. They're given enough passing mention that vampires, high-daylight walkers or not, must have been part of the production bible since near the start.

Eva is never said to be the only one. There's vampires being a regular thing in the Negima lore, even discounting UQ Holder. The whole 'noble' bullshit was UQ Holder, but Eva being part of a CLASS of vampires and not unique all to herself, was in Negima. Evangeline was just so insanely bullshit strong, she's the most powerful known one to the world at large.

That's a hella monster design. I love it.

About time Mana
Heh, thanks OP.

I have to say, I do like the politics going on here and how Ala Rubra didn't just gorilla their way through everything and prove Arika was innocent just by beating everyone up. The situation was a complex one and she lost her reputation, but she still kept her life and the world was allowed to stay at peace for the time. As Kurt said, there were still plenty of issues, but they were ones which could be dealt with another day. Crashing the rescue and saving her publicly would just restart conflicts. The Senate also knows this, so even despite being humiliated by Ala Rubra and knowing Arika lived, they wouldn't want to admit to the public what happened and lose so much face and start more wars either.

Fucking fantastic

I can see where Negi gets his gloominess from.

Nun with spats is rare combination

Man, reading through this thread is so depressing knowing how the manga ended up turning out. To think we almost lived in a world where it wasn't cancelled.

Attached: 00185.jpg (1153x1730, 444K)

hoverhand

Lets just be careful about Thanos posting considering all

Right, freaking cursed timeline

I don't think they're spats though? Misora wears stockings w/garters or pantyhose with her nun outfit.

Oh yeah, these fucking things are troublesome as hell.

She doesn't have very lady-like intentions.

Next volume should have my question in this section. I was one of the two foreign guys who sent a question in English and got it answered.

If Negima had it's final arc completed it would be my absolute favorite battle shounen of all time.

Thanks OP. What a cliffhanger!

Attached: Tsumugari.jpg (800x800, 91K)

Who knew the newest DOOM final boss would be leaked early?

FUCK YEAH. RIP AND TEAR!

Ooh. Lucky you.

Holy fuck this volume was badass as all hell. It helps that when the big scary demon guy showed up outside the palace I played "Rip and Tear" from DOOM 2016. Thanks for the daily dump OP!

You can tell they aren't real demons because they don't have any bants

I don't use this word lightly, but next volume is going to be HYPE.

the last time I checked Negima was a garbage disposable harem series and now it's apparently a depressing and violent political drama about war?

Ehh these things happen

Attached: 013425.png (237x293, 68K)

And an isekai battle shonen

Love this manga. Thanks OP.

Yeah by volume 5-6 it went from shallow Love Hina x Harry Potter fanfiction to shonen fanservice with occasional suffering. It's sequel UQ Holder said "Let's take a bad end and run with it! Everyone is sad but also immortal which makes them sadder!"

Cute. Cute! Anyone would've hugged her in that situation, no matter how powerful the slap would've been.

And as snarky as that first bit sounds, I love Negima. How it felt as a story from beginning, to middle, to end was kind of all over but it's a wild ride. Love Hina is probably one of my favorite manga, and I enjoy Akamatsu's art quite a bit, even when it was kind of janky during early stuff like A.I. Love You

The volume 17 link has had a typo for a while.

Thanks for pointing that out.
Half the Vol X: were missing colons until today too

Not the usual guy making these and I don't got a bunch of time to make a couple reaction image worthy caps, but this one stood out for me.

Attached: Sentimental Kurt.png (600x541, 451K)

The editor text and the bubbles are switched again, aren't they? I swear the original text was "Treasure hunter nodoka miyazaki will now begin her counterattack"

Because you're not the real Asuna, duh.

They could have done a better job remembering there were two missing people and one they thought was missing was found..

but he did defy his creator. Did the lifemaker make fate like that out of curiosity?

The Lifemaker had various 'settings' for her constructs. It's stated directly, at least in the fan-TL, that she made Fate with no innate loyalty toward her, unlike the others. So he arguably had the most 'free will' of the constructs.

I wish takane would have joined negis group more

That looks like a good hentai demon

Yell Squads are gangsta as fuck. Cheerleading squads are low IQ, Yell Squads are where men with burning souls go to support the team.
No doubt they are descended from the Flagbearers of armies of the past, the men who kept the morale high and were required to stay alive due to their high importance.

Reading this in a thread is more trouble than it's worth. Got a torrent link or something?

Here's what I used.
...I think I post it every time someone asks. Pretty sure.

So what was the reason Kurt only wanted to save Megalomesembria's population alone?

Thanks, Magi.

I wanna know more about this death collar law.

Attached: 183917.png (310x283, 114K)

Probably what they mentioned earlier in the manga where the collar punishes slaves for disobeying(it can kill them too) but on the other hand it makes sure the owner can not abuse the slave.

Mars people would just vanish with the collapse. But the Megalomesembria's people were real bone and flesh, so they'd just suffer through it. If the collapse was inevitable, then they were the only lives that could be saved.

Oh no, I hate where this is going

Is Zazie's home a magical world or a physical world? We know she's from Venus but does she exist on it's actual land like it was Terraformed or is it like the Magical World in that it sorta exists on the planet but not really?

>the thing Chao was trying to prevent was the destruction of the magical world
>rather than some run of the mill local tragedy, no different from those that occur around the globe daily, as she described it
I always thought this kind of spoiled the poetic value of Chao's motives.

The thought of Arika spending two years in a straitjacket is pretty hot, not gonna lie.

>Drop all of your weapons and cards!
What is this, Yugioh?

But it doesn't. Both UQ and this theorized destruction of the magical world are just displacements and deaths of a lot of people. We know that during Chao's time, this was incredibly common, common enough that it's even happening during Touta's time even though Mars is settled and people live there.

>lower right
How wet is she?

As Negi points out, only 67 million souls on Mars are ACTUALLY real. The other 1.123 BILLION existences are literally magic beings with zero reality beyond pieces of the setting that simply have sentience. To "save" all the magical beings of Mars, outside the real 67 million humans from Earth, is not only incredibly taxing to do (that's a LOT of people), but the huge number is LITERALLY the reason why Magicus Mundus (Mars) is collapsing in the first place. It doesn't have the resources to sustain that.

That's the timeline Chao's from. Mars collapses and 1.123 billion magical entities, as well as the entire magical habitat, DISAPPEAR. Only 67 million humans remain, and are instantly thrust onto the barren, red, wasteland that is the surface of Mars.

Attached: THE BIGGEST PLOT TURN spoken by a side-character.jpg (1784x2672, 1.13M)

It's as real as Earthlings. They're just Venusian. No more (or less) magical, just older. And a completely different species of sentient life.

>Rakan comes from a race that lives long, so he doesn't age much
Huh.

Were hybrids possible? Would a child hybrid vanish too? It seems like at least some of those magical ones with enough work and time could be made to have a normal body.

Identity theft

Probably? I dunno.
As Negi seems to be fairly explicit about later, it's not that it's IMPOSSIBLE to save the "purely magical" being of Magicus Mundus...it would simply require a LOT of magic, a LOT of effort, and a LOT of time. Far more time (and magic) than could possibly be accrued in the few years that the world was going to collapse.

That's always the thing in many of these cases:
1. Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?
2. What's the better choice: sacrifice 1% to save 99% (low-risk of failure) or work to save 100% (high-risk of failure)?

Most of the "evil" people in this Negiverse are people who believe
>death is a thing. Law of averages demands we work for the greater good."

Most of the "good" people in this Negiverse are people who believe
>there must be an answer that solves everything for everyone. I refuse to compromise (except sacrifice myself, perhaps): instead, I will solve everything.

And, as a reader, you're meant to side with the idea that a good, "perfect solution," is not only possible, but can be implemented within the same time-frame as the bad, "imperfect solution," despite explicit hypocrisy that it's not.

>displacements and deaths of a lot of people
Sure, but 67 million people displaced is much bigger a deal than, say, a mass shooting. Or the KyoAni fire. It seemed like Chao was describing something local like these.

>We know that during Chao's time, this was incredibly common
Sure, but she was talking about our time.

Idk, there are enough impossible geniuses in Negima!'s setting that I don't blame them for thinking they couldn't pull SOMETHING off.

I think she was talking about war and genocide in the news, user.

Oh, or massive natural disasters. My point is that she doesn't insinuate she's talking about anything local.

Are there other manga which intentionally worldbuild to the extent that Negima does? Most worldbuilding in anime feels like it just accumulates over time to justify a series of plotpoints.

The implication seems to be Venusian civilization used to exist on the physical plane but then after they destroyed themselves from in-fighting survivors were banished to the inverse side, which is now the demon world. But Venusians aren't illusions like MW residents, and the black of Venus is the source of some of the Lifemaker's power.

I mean, whether she's talking about big tragedies or everyday war fatalities, neither of those is on the same order of magnitude as a billion or so people (2/3rds of China's population) just evaporating, and 67 million people (current population of the UK) displaced.

Oops, forgot to spoiler that page.

And it's hard to argue that, as ultimately they didn't (or haven't, yet). Especially given this is a fantasy story about magic and harem ecchi battle shounen. "Perfect" is totally believable, I can easily admit to that. It's not even necessarily remarkable. It can also be very fun.

I just like discussing the value of what these powerful people where doing. It was always on a global scale, so it affected more than just a 1:1 "who's stronger" level. The repercussions of the winner or loser of that battle was enormous and spectacular, even/especially for those not involved (or not even aware). And, quite wonderfully, this manga does actually delve into exactly what those repercussions are, for BOTH outcomes. It's fun! It simply boils down, as the reader, to a sort of "belief" of what YOU think a human will do...and if that would ever change.

In the end, the easiest thing to discuss to keep a baseline is that this is all about natural resources. Magicus Mundus is going to collapse because
1. Planet Mars has limited magic resource
2. Population of Mars has grown beyond that limit
3. unrelatedly, but also a reason for action, Ialda is REALLY tired of bad feelings and wants it to stop.
So how do you solve those two points? There a a lot of ways to address them, but what's the "best?"

Attached: A girl of taste.jpg (584x1094, 243K)

I feel you're unfairly framing the issue. Negi admitted back in Mahora Festival there wasn't something that could really make everyone happy and that he was being the 'bad guy' for taking the stance that he was, trying to deny Chao's plan. Chao absolutely refused to compromise, so there was no way everyone could be 'saved'. It was Chao and her side vs the Mahora side, and someone had to lose.

Everyone on the 'save the few we can train' has basically given up entirely on even entertaining the thought of trying to save everyone, and they believe it to be impossible. Negi's against that as he both doesn't know the final piece(yet) of why that's the case, hence Nodoka asked, and because he wants to believe everyone can be saved and do everything he can. And he comes up with a solution that works and prevents Mars from collapsing. Even before this though, people like Kurt have already written it all off as a lost cause. I think Negi is smart enough, between Mahora Fest and this stuff, to know saving everyone every single time might be difficult, but sometimes you CAN save everyone, even if it's the impossible looking route, and it's always worth fighting for to get that outcome where everyone can be saved.

Negi has just gotten confirmation of most of the picture, so can you really blame him, the smart child he is, for wanting to try and come up with something? If everyone always took the 'easy' way of sacrificing a few to save the many cause it was less risky or they already wrote it off, then that's a dangerous slope you can start going down or you end up losing more lives than you would have to if you tried to save everyone. There's nothing wrong with the narrative supporting that.
There's not too much, sadly. Negima's world building was something damn special, especially when it came to the magic system and Lexicon info. Haven't found something like it since.

Attached: 1567089593344.png (253x576, 128K)

While we're all talking about Negima, does anybody remember what it (or UQ) says about the afterlife? I mean, it clearly exists in some form because of all the undead, but is it mentioned beyond that?

Isn't he talking about Early Earthlings, the "Nobles" there? I thought I read this is Nikitus explaining who the Vampires were; that they were Earth's sentient life before humans ever gained intelligence. They eventually left Earth, but didn't "sail the stars" beyond their own solar system, eventually simply inhabiting Venus (because of the Black of Venus is some strong stuff). I thought the Venusians were ACTUAL lifeforms from Venus, not just the Shinsou Vampires. Zazie, for example.
I can be wrong, there's a lot of info.

Besides what others said, don't forget that everyone in the Magic World knows Eva.

Looks like a Chinese Emperor or something.

Where did her manacles go?

>only 2 warships and 3k soldiers
What a dumbass.

C'mon Nodoka. Geez.

You're probably right

I'll admit again, given this is a manga fantasy story, a perfect solution can certainly exist! It's not shocking our MC is the sole person, maybe along with his friends we've all come to love, is able to come up with that solution despite everyone else "giving up." I'll state though, my "frame" is not as a reader at the Mahora Festival or the Fighting Fate stage, it's as someone who's completed the manga and is up-to-date on the UQ Holder manga and while I'm applying applying the UQ story, I don't necessarily have to to remain confident in my views or questions.

I will address this, though.
>I think Negi is smart enough, between Mahora Fest and this stuff, to know saving everyone every single time might be difficult, but sometimes you CAN save everyone, even if it's the impossible looking route, and it's always worth fighting for to get that outcome where everyone can be saved.
This gives the indication of where your stance is on such large, catastrophic issues like this. Issues that involve life, death, and free will on individual or global scale. I'm under the impression that, as you state, that 100% salvation is possible.

For example: Nagi. Nagi made all his decisions quickly and easily - never give up, win everything, save everyone. He lived his whole life that way, became the Thousand Master, "saved the world," everyone loved him. But, while he made the decisions based on the assumption he was going to win and never fail...Nagi failed. In the end, people still died Hell, he himself "killed" his enemies, Ostia fell, The Lifemaker continues to exist and Nagi died. It would seem, PRINCIPLE, you still agree with Nagi and his actions: this was a man who refused to compromise on his convictions that 100% salvation was possible and HIS way was going to work, even though it didn't. That was okay, at least it was "right" and not "giving up."

I simply do not agree, either as a reader or merely as "devil's advocate."

Nobles ARE Venusians, they've lived long before humanity took off. There's no indication they were originally from Earth, Ba'al even specifies being raised on different planets.

But not all Venusians are noble vampires, what exists there now is the demon world on the inverse side, so demons--like Zazie--come from there.

Attached: 0164-005.png.jpg (1066x1600, 376K)

I mean, you're all right and I agree, "high daylight walker" vampire MUST exist in more than "only Eva" amounts. It's just...it's implied they're so rare (and powerful) that using them as any kind of comparison seems to vague and unjustified. It would be nice to know what a Vampire was in the Negiverse instead of "Eva" or "UQ Shinsou Akasha Noble"

Not to dismiss that Evangline "The Dark Evangel" isn't certainly famous for her power or deeds; she certainly was very involved with destroying her enemies for hundreds of years. But, as readers, we pretty much know they have no idea just how strong Eva is, and it's been a long time since she's shown real power to the public.

Attached: She's about to Magia Erebea after that jaculatio.jpg (367x361, 66K)

>There's no indication they were originally from Earth
Well, that's true enough. I was certainly operating under the assumption they were, though. At least in relation to Nikitis' discussion.

>But not all Venusians are noble vampires, what exists there now is the demon world on the inverse side, so demons--like Zazie--come from there.
And I guess I did make the assumption you're disputing, so I can leave it at that.

Good thing he brought Chisame along.

Look at that sexy back.

Not at all. I speak as someone who is up to date on everything and has reread Negima multiple times. The problem is that Nagi was someone who didn't have ANY plan besides 'stop the bad guy'. I said SOMETIMES you can save everyone, even if it looks impossible. It's true, you can't every time. Nagi's problem was he was the shounen idiot hero.

This starkly contrasts Negi. Nagi's approach was 'eliminate the bad guy so they can't keep doing bad things'. Where Negi is more 'eliminate their REASON so they don't NEED to keep doing the perceived bad things.' He even spells this out later when battling with Cosmo Entelecheia and says something to the effect "We don't have to fight. With my plan able to save everyone, your's doesn't hold any legitimacy". I don't remember the exact line, but it was something along those lines.

Sure, Negi does have that element of believing he can still do it or that he'll make it work, but unlike his father, he actually goes through the effort and planning to try and come up with a solution and offer an alternative which can at least be discussed. Salvation can very well be possible, but not the way Nagi was doing it. So, no, I actually don't flatly agree with Nagi as he offered no solution besides 'stop the bad guy. Deal with it later. How? Lol hell if I know."

Things are a lot more nuanced than you're making it out to be. If you can actually back up you convictions and ideals, then it's not a delusional fantasy. To give a more simple example, Nagi says he's the strongest mage in the world, and he has the power to back it up. If some random jobber makes the same claim but can't back it up, then that's where the problem is.

Negi did not have a solution in that exact moment, but he's someone who actually has the brains to not have an unfounded belief he might be able to do it and try for himself, instead of taking someone's word of "It's impossible." It's not blind optimism or faith if you can pull it off.

Isn't Yue's pin missing since they never got a reaction for hers or something?

Thanks for the dump.

I just wanna say I love all you guys. This is the kind of Negima discussion and community I've been lacking for literal years since it kinda died a quiet death. I know it's fleeting and won't last much longer, but this has been the best time I've had on Yea Forums in ages. OP is a great person.

No, Yue has her pin.

I'm happy to see that we agree on the idea of nuance, property, and the amalgamation of reality is more than just "win/lose." That it involves plan, effort, structure and then dedication. We also agree that Negi brought all of that into the discussion! (And that Nagi didn't) My conversation up to this point was assuring we reached this point, together. Now, we get to talk about Negi: did Negi succeed? Feel free to think about different timelines, plot, manga series relations, backstory, addressed or even unaddressed points. That's all fine. But, did Negi's plan of making Mars habitable, making Mars a sustainable world that can harbor the population, succeed?

I can see justifiable answers for both YES and NO.
My only concern is that you (or others) may not understand the justification of what that "no" means.
Yes, Negi's plan worked! He succeeded in the application of his plan!! The requirement for, well, murder (willful ignorance of 1.123 billion deaths as sacrifice), of the magical beings and the removal free-will (cohma) that Cosmo Entelechia had for its plan of "Heaven" to work...is not present with Negi's plan! He was able to operate while attempting to save everyone, he never gave up, genius that he was and luckily? immortal he became.

But also, no, he still failed. Negi did NOT save everyone, and he knew it, too. And that's where it seems you and I differ on opinion. Negi's failure to save everyone (inevitable, since people die by the hundreds every second, Negi isn't God) is something you seem to find true, but also refutable as evidence his plan shouldn't have been enacted. After all, Negi was at least TRYING to save everyone, and that's better than compromise, right? We know where he failed, and most of his failure (outside of not-killing Ialda except in the Happy End), was "time." As time moved forward, more people suffered and died. And were those deaths acceptable, worth it? To Negi, it was.

Attached: Open the Magia Erebea Scroll.png (1108x1013, 802K)

I'd love to continue this, but it's bedtime over here. I talk too much, and I'm still trying to build on the philosophy here, so I'll leave with my ultimate thoughts:

1. Negi's plan relies on "ultimate" meaning all life is meritable. Everyone deserves saving, and being saved is a good thing.
2. Cosmo Entelechia's "Heaven" solves every conceivable problem, INSTANTLY, with the exception that it's not an option for anyone to say, "no, I don't want Heaven."

And that's as simple as I can make it (which, being simple, means way too many assumptions are made without clarification but hey). Negi's solution isn't Heaven: it's existence as it currently is, prolonged. We are given indication that this prolonged existence is miserable for most, by the way. Not only that, it didn't account for continued unsustainable resources even when Earth becomes involved. Negi's solution requires humans to eventually abandon Mars and Earth anyway, once the resources are depleted. It's arguable, for as short-term successful his plan is, and the GENIUS he is for implementing it so quickly (in 40 years)...it still fails, long-term.

Is she comando?

>Even if it is an illusion.
YOU

She's wearing something extremely highcut.

Also, I just want to say the manga art looks much better than the cover's art. Not just for the crotch shot, but the face.

Good thing, THIS time.

Yell squads are for faggots.

Is it isekai though? It's more akin to traveling to another continent.

It is a different world on a dimension parallel to Mars. How would it not be isekai?
