Too much technology

What's up with the amount of animation that unaesthetically tries to mimic real life?

1) it's easier to mimic reality since it doesn't require an ounce of creativity
2) it's easier to take real world buildings as "inspiration" and simply draw over a picture you took or found online
3) audiences seem to prefer photorealistic garbage, aka the trash produced by KusoAnus, so nobody cares about animation as an artform anymore

Holy shit is this actually real???

Realism is as valid as an approach to animation as anything else.

The building, benches, stone cubes and the ground are 3DCG. A lot of very basic background objects are very often done in 3DCG in a lot of anime. Here they just used a too natural texture which makes it clash more heavily with the added 2D elements.

Did they show this in a making-of video?

Im pretty sure everything is 3dcg actually, even the character models which are cel shaded

>Food/fudo
>beverage/dorinku
Don't they have real Japanese words for those?

It's pretty obvious to anyone with eyes.

tabemono and nomimono
Idk why they didnt use those

No of course not silly, the japanese didn't even know what food was until the us bombed them.

Because they just took a photo of a real life location and did some editing to slap it into their anime without being too conspicuous. It's a common tactic.

It is obvious if you know what to look for. And a mixture of 2D and 3DCGI has been the industry standard for more than a decade. The characters and greenery are 2D.

the characters and the greenery are clearly not 2d. at least in the OP pic. you can look at the tree in the upper right and see it was obviously 3dcg

You didn't answer my question.

Thank heavens we could enlighten them

Get your eyes checked.

It's more likely a real photo with painted over digitally. That's the most common technique used to make backgrounds these days.

Soulless

This hardly compare to this It's like they barely even tried.
