you guys hyped this up as the "GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER TOLD" and it honestly was for most of the show
then we get to the climax- taiga and ryuji confess to each other, they even kiss for the first time. 10/10 moment in the show.
then taiga just FUCKING LEAVES FOR OVER A YEAR without even telling ryuji or anyone else. just fucking abandons everyone and sends them some 2deep4u image of a star BECAUSE GET IT, IM A STAR THAT'S TRYING TO SHINE IN THE NIGHT SKY I HOPE YOU GET THIS SYMBOLISM
im mad. fuck taiga. the whole ending felt super rushed. ryuji should have just ran off with ami.
but that awful fucking ending ruined it. she just abandons him for over a year and doesn't even keep in contact. totally ghosts him.
this show was a huge waste of time.
Julian Lewis
Watch after the credits you fucking baka.
Joseph Bennett
yeah she comes back AFTER graduation, which is over a year after she left. and she doesn't even go say hi to her former classmates, no she hides up in the classroom away from them.
the whole ending was retarded.
Connor Clark
>I read a bunch of spoilers and got false preconceptions >And it's YOUR FAULT Fuck off retard, think for yourself next time.
Julian Foster
Now you are starting to understand the true meaning behind the phrase "greatest love story ever told."
Wyatt Morales
The star thing was a motif, didn't come out of nowhere. She left to go help her mom and fix her life in alignment with Ryuji after the scene with his own mom, doing this meant completely cutting connections until she was in the right place to return to them.
Connor Martin
Yeah it's pretty bad. The novel ending is slightly better at least, but even still they're both quite rushed.
Anthony Nelson
???
"oh hey ryuji you chose me instead of the girl you've been in love with for years, thanks for everything but now im going to abandon you, without any warning or letting you know im leaving, and transfer schools without saying goodbye to anyone, and then i'm going to completely and totally ignore you for over a year while i find myself :^) "
"but dont worry i'll come back in a year and a half after you've graduated then we can be together :^) "
Ian Cook
You're thinking too pea-brain here about relationships. It was a grand show of long-term commitment.
Brayden Lopez
It's only the gap between semesters in the light novels. The end of the anime is weak because it was going through production as the novels were ending. They only had a bare outline of what the canon ending was and they fudged it a bit.
Landon Fisher
Love is different than lust.
James Jenkins
>It's only the gap between semesters in the light novels. see that's a lot better, i'd be more okay with that. gone for just a few weeks but back to spend the final year of high school together with ryuji as a couple.
i feel better knowing that the LN has a better ending.
Oliver Gray
Felt like an accurate representation of love to me. Sometimes that means you go repair the damage your behavior in the past has caused to build a stronger foundation for your relationship and that can take a lot of time. Here it's reconnecting with her family just like Ryuji's mom does with her parents near the end of the show.
It's supposed to show character growth on Taiga's part, deciding to go make amends without relying on Ryuji or others but still within her established character by how she does it. Yes, if Taiga wasn't a damaged character she wouldn't have cut off all contact and left like she did but that's the point, she's deeply damaged by her childhood but is on the path towards bettering herself. The characters aren't perfect but it tells us both of them are willing to do what's hard to build a family rather than taking shortcuts.
Connor Gomez
It should have continued after she returns.
Kevin Diaz
how is taiga's family issues her fault though
her dad routinely abandons her and her mom treats her like trash.
Levi Richardson
Didn't mean to imply that it's her fault, her parents certainly hold most of the blame. But how will continuing to stay resentful and angry fix anything? Sometimes if you want a better future that means letting go of the past and put in the work required to get there, regardless of who is to blame.
Asher Nelson
This. The only thing that felt off was the fact that highschoolers were mature enough to know that.
Brandon Wilson
well, the conversation is meaningless at the point knowing the LN makes more sense.
it seems in the LN she only leaves for a few weeks at most and comes back pretty quickly. she attends the same school but moves back in with her mom.
though the LN ends with them walking to school after she comes back. i was looking forward to seeing the classes reaction to her and ryuji finally getting together.
Luis Ortiz
The shortened time period doesn't make the conversation less meaningful at all. The anime ending still very much works as its own thing. You just ignored the arguments for it.
Lucas Bailey
best ending is in the PSP game where you can get her pregnant
Nathan Ross
How does the time frame change the sentiment behind her actions? Be it month or a year, she still did it for the same reason did she not?
If your point is just that the LN is working with a more realistic time table for how long she could reasonably be gone without being in contact with Ryuji then you are right about that. But on the other hand just a few weeks seems like a really short time to repair the relationship between Taiga and her mother which is why she left in the first place.
Joshua Diaz
thanks for saving me from typing that
Nathan Garcia
>bad ending >left for over a year
hey user, they've got the rest of their lives together, she just needed the good the good ole year-long mexican gangbang siesta outta her system
>But on the other hand just a few weeks seems like a really short time to repair the relationship between Taiga and her mother but she didn't repair their relationship- it's an ongoing process. she moved back in with her mom but stayed at her same school. its not like she went back to her mom and then came back to her apartment a few weeks later.
it's a more satisfying ending. she's now living with her mom, but she's also with her friends still.
Christopher King
I haven't read the LN but the way you are describing it I think the anime is the more satisfying of the endings.
The anime ends with them done with school and ready to move out into the world and start a life together. That's way more satisfying as an ending than Taiga living with her mom instead of being neighbors with Ryuji.
Samuel Myers
are the novels worth it? should i read them? are they in english?
Dominic Howard
yes, there's translations. and yes, things make a bit more sense in the novels.
Bentley Thomas
I only found the first two official volumes, and all of the baka tsuki releases, which one should i read?
Wyatt Russell
Taiga a shit
Michael Adams
WASH AWAY THE ANGER
Ian Ross
Can't Ryuji end up fucking his mom in one of the endings
Jaxon Nelson
I suspect OP might actually still be in high school. Enjoying summer, kiddo?
Charles Allen
I thought it was cannon that he gave her that sweet loving she needs every morning when she comes home from work in those tight dresses.
The whole point of the ending was that taiga wasn't worthy of standing side by side with ryuji The whole show was about how useless taiga was without ryuji she left to learn how to be an adult and take care of herself It not that hard, stop being retarded
