That's not actually true. The first concept of Hinata was literally titled "Moon Princess". She was, from the beginning, supposed to be Naruto's primary love interest and she always was supposed to be royalty. Why she (or any Hyuuga for that matter) wasn't as overpowered as the other half of the family is something I can't tell you. But Kishimoto actually spoilered and implied that whole reincarnation shit pretty early. Arguably the second time Madara and Hashirama are mentioned, and latest by the time they have thier showdown in the Valley of the End. If people didn't see this coming, then they are literally too retarded for Naruto. And while the space bunny shit was introduced fairly late, the fact that Hinata was considered the Moon Princess from the very script onwards, at least implied some form of space life.
