can honestly say I never understood her motivation doesn't really clear up what she gained from going into the eva someone give me a quick rundown. She is a complete bitch tho for leaving Shinji and is the reason he's a beta in the show.

She wanted to become a seed of life, like lilith or Adam and spread life to other worlds.

She was fixated on the idea that no matter what, humanity would eventually go extinct - be it 3rd Impact or a natural death thousands-millions of years down the road, and eventually all signs humanity existed would be erased by time. Yui found correcting this "problem" a priority to herself for some crazy reason.

So by putting her human soul in the Eva, it would serve as an everlasting beacon to leave proof of humanity's existence in the universe.
