What do people like so much about part 7? I don't get it. It was cool at the start and all with the horse race aesthetic but that gets pretty much abandoned by the time a couple of stages are over, and the corpse parts put the final nail in that coffin. Plot makes no sense (why the fuck does Valentine need to get some random racers who aren't even loyal to him to collect the parts?), spin makes no sense (at no point did I understand what it is or how it works, it's literally just throwing balls at people which is somehow the most effective attack? Buy a fucking gun Gyro, god damn), and I especially didn't have any fucking clue how Love Train worked which ruined the entire final act.
Also the guy in the car should've been a minor villain, I was waiting for him to show up again for the entire part, it could've been kino. Speaking of minor villains, they're all garbage, and "The True Man's World" is one of the most overrated fights I've ever seen. The actual best "fight" was Sugar Mountain's Spring.
Also Gyro is a complete meme character, just like Part 2 Joseph, I just can't fucking take him seriously.

side characters have scarce backstory and aren't interesting either

unironically what the other user said. the protagonist isn't some stoic hero, he's just a high school kid. and he's not trying to save the world but rather keep the peace in his comfy little town.

and the stand users they defeat generally come back as allies, or at least friends, afterwards since they all live in the same town. and the enemies generally aren't evil, they're just abusing their stand power to benefit themselves.

now that I think about it, that makes a lot sense considering all of the other parts (minus 6) are always on the move, I suppose that makes it unique in a way

For the most part I like Part 4's concepts but the execution doesn't do much for me(Morioh in general and Kira). It did have a better supporting cast than Part 3 and more creative stand usage though.

Araki doesn't see the world of JoJo in any specific color palette, so it's best to make your own palette.

It takes place in one small town and the first half is pretty much a Jojo slice of life. Basically people like it for the reasons you think its lame, which is fine, 4 has a very different feel than the previous parts.
The color makes the fights easier to follow for me so I read it in color. I prefer parts 1 and 2 in black and white though, they just look bad colored.

Color is way better. When the stands come out, it's way too hard to follow in in black and white. And I like the vibrancy of it all

I think True Man's World is pretty meh, but Blackmore after that was rad as fuck. This brings me back to Gyro and the spin shit- they should have just used guns. Think about it, Mountain Tim vs Blackmore, Blackmore vs Lucy, 11 men vs Gyro and Johnny, Who Shot Johnny, these are all super hype fights that use guns- its typical of the genre. The spin shit is fairly stupid, like the idea of using infinity as a power is rad but the way it's implemented is lame. SBR fights should have been a compliment between Stand powers and guns, it would have been an overall improvement, and hell, this is basically what Araki tried to do by de-emphasizing Stands and focusing more on "abilities" like Spin.

I also don't like how some anons say it's a "celebration of JoJo", like faggot, if, say, parts 3 and 7 existed in their own vacuums, you might say 7 is better, but the truth is, it's JoJo, part 3 has already been done, you can't come out with something derivative of your own work and say it's an improvement because we already know about part 3.

Part 8 however, does stuff that's never been done before, and does it very well, but still in a JoJo way where it utilizes Stand Powers creatively and builds a great tone, has plenty of comedy and drama, etc.

Because it's in character for Valentine, his philosophy is sacrificing valuable things for greater goals. Yeah I think the OVA did certain parts of part 3 a lot better than the anime did. Like N'doul's defeat and also D'arby's. The music in anime when D'arby is defeated is definitely from Jotaro's "perspective," like it's just a triumphant theme tune to show what a badass Jotaro is being. In the OVA the music is supposed to reflect what D'arby's feeling and it's like this mad circus-like theme to show how crazy D'arby is going from fear.

I also like how the OVA merges Avdol and "Nukesaku's" deaths and I like how Iggy's death is sudden and butal instead of being drawn out and melodramatic.

I consider myself lucky that three Jojo VAs are going to be anywhere in my area at a con, even if they are the Dub VAs. We would never get the original VAs anyways. I still thought the dub was okay

I preffered iggys death in the anime but agree with everything else. It always bugged me how Vanilla Ice killed more members of the crew than DIO, so i think the ova version of avdols death was better.

Am I a brainlet or is Part 8 just immensely confusing? It’s got incredible moments and fights but I can barely follow how it’s getting from one to the other sometimes, apart from the central McGuffin. Does it get better if you read it in one sitting?
