Togashi literally shat out something vague in the middle of the real plotline so he could save himself from a writer's block in the future, but hasn't done shit with the character in almost 200 chapters because he came up with the succession and Dark Continent arcs instead.

It's foreshadowing for future events, nothing wrong with that. And that backstory was one of the best moments in the series, so worth it either way.

Most likely he'll use Gyro in the arc after the dark continent when the plot starts to follow Gon again, Honestly i think Gyro will be the next big bad if Togashi ever actually finishes this arc

The chimera ant arc literally ends with Welfin going to Meteor City to find Gyro, is not a plotline that has been dropped at all.
Also Togashi set Gyro to start over slowly and meet gon in the future (which is something that could mean years), and well, guess what character has to start over and come back in the future too. Togashi put Gon in that state so he could have him come back later with nen for this conflict with probably a time skip too, it's obvious.

Story behind a guy is such a disappointment. At first I liked it, like everyone else, who read the manga. But more chapters were issued and more I thought about it - more questions turn up, like - What the actual fuck? His father made him live without troubling anybody. Taught him to construct houses. Than Gyro realised his father never actually liked him, so he killed him.
And then - baam, Gyro's a genius druglord and nobody fucks with him. Except ants, to whom he sucked hard. What the hell?

It was never stated that he was born leader, smart or strong-minded when he was young. When he was adult it was never stated that he constructed things or remembered his father figure. His upbringings didn't shine any light on his fate. Story of a young Gyro and an old Gyro could be stories about two different people.
The fact that Gyro remained with his consciousness intact after rebirth isn't even exceptional, since there were many other ants that remembered their past and who wanted to oppose king from the beginning. And ants themselves, as it turns out, aren't exceptional too, since dark continent introduction.

It was just Togashi's half-arsed attempt to make an alternative ant villain with different perspective from king and queen. I won't be surprised if he never turns up again.

He's abandoned his morality for the sake of vengeance and he's aware that it's killing him, and he's been running the local mafia for a while, so he thinks he's tough shit.

Tserrendietch or however the fuck you spell it is going to be Kurapika's trial by fire. I predicted that when Kurapika told Mizaistrom that he thinks Tserrenbitch can be "reasoned with".

With the entire surviving Phantom Troupe & Hisoka on board, he's also probably going to have to come to terms with the fact that the monsters he hates are morally complex.

The only thing 2011 version did better was the chimera ant arc. The first half, only cutting Gyro second part was a shame :(

You conveniently forget that I wrote about the problem with the timeskip is it not being consistent. It's never implied anywhere that Gyro's father figure or something else from his childhood took place in his life choices. I see what Togashi maybe was trying to do - show a man just snap one day, and then play on the contrast between before and after. And that's why we initially liked this story. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised that this story doesn't lead anywhere and overall is just another symptom of Togashi's lazy writing - Oh, I'm a boy, I'm poor and sad, but at least my father loves me. Oh no, he's not, kill. And then we are suddenly El Chapo Escobar. Look at Kurapika or Netero, whose flashbacks made sense in their character arcs. And look at Gyro, whose story is edgy just for the sake of le edgy.

It seems you understand what I'm saying and just playing stupid.
In no world, certainly not in that manga one, ordinary man could build and head a country in his relatively young years without some backing like having incredibly rich relatives or noble bloodline, that could give him some legitimacy in the eyes of his peers and people. It's obvious that Togashi want us to think that Gyro has some kind of another edge, like inner power, charisma or deep knowledge in things.
Of course you can say it could show in the future, but as I was saying, I seriously doubt he'll appear again. And even if he will appear, the only thing we can hope for at such pace, is another half-arsed attempt to put old hanging threads together, like he did with Hisoka and Kuroro or that whole Yu Yu Hakusho thing.
