I don't know about you, but I think it is pretty amazing she will make Rin lose twice. Originally in the OSK manga, then Rin 2.0 will lose in this one.

I feel so conflicted with the manga-ka, at least on a technical level, she is on the top of her game. She can draw beautiful guys and girls consistently, and her framing and background skills are amazing. Yet, on some level, her character design regressed. She had a gorgeous, unique design (see: OSK volume 5-8), and now her design are more 'blah' and generic (end of OSK to this)

Rin's character is basically a person with a misguided sense of justice because she was bullied for her boobs. She also had naive notions of love and romance that comes from someone with no experience.

As she grew and learned more, she mellowed out. She actually had the best character arc in the whole story.

That's another good point, literally everyone around Rin was a bad influence on her:

Former Best Friend - Bullied her when she thought Rin was going after the guy she liked.
Sawatari - Sexually harasses her, pushes her into love while being unprepared
Ikoma - Uses her just to get Ui
Karen - Bitch
Akane - Cute rebel
Ui - Free love, pushes Rin way into the ecchi dark side, gives her false hope that she had a chance
Hayato - Feteshizes big boobs, leads Rin on, also pushes her way into the pervert side with his dirty actions.
Kei - Big sister slut
Honoka - Creepy photographer who ninja shoots her boobs all the time and makes money on it, probably responsible for Rin's classmates jerking it to her all the time.

Thinking about it, if I was in her shoes, I probably would be even more defensive and even more irritated if I was surrounded by such horrible people. Probably the only one who is genuinely kind to Rin is Ayane. Rin should have been BFF's with her.

That's a really good point, an insightful point.

When Rin was introduced, she was basically the anti-Ui. She actually represented a legitimate threat to Ui and her free-love ideology. She was a rival, in a ideological sense, conservative traditionalist versus liberal.

Then you have volume 3, where hayato sees her boobs for the first time, and then she moves next to him and thinks he is crossdressing. Which muddles their already strange relationship. Then it gets extra awkward in volume 5 and 6 when he touches her boobs and actually tried to masturbate over her.

Then you see poor Rin over there, she is confused about this guy she is forced to interact with, trying to determine whether he is friend or foe. Yet, this guy is the only male in her life seeing her in more and more compromising sexual positions.

Ui basically created her own romantic rival when she pushed Rin from an ideological rival into a romantic one. Rin was confused about her relationship, and Ui's panicked meddling make Rin misinterpret his sexual harassment as romantic advances.

Ui is a terrible person.

So basically Rin has absolutely zero will or agency and nothing is ever her fault as she is just a result of the people around her?

That is a terribly incorrect interpretation of what is going on. Rin's actions are a reaction to those around her. Just like how your existence, your personality, the way you see things is a reaction to the world around you.

People who call her "bitch," "fanservice girl,"or "boobs the character" have a shallow understanding of her character and the role she plays in her world. Its like how people who claim that her sole purpose is to "lose" is a very incorrect way to view her.

Rin's role is to move the relationship between Ui and Hayato forward by being a countering force. Likewise, Rin is the physical manifestation of what counters Ui's mentality and ideology.
