Tsukuda by rushing the Azami arc, probably because of low ratings or sales.
Souma was "leveling" by fighting each low level elite 10 in their mini arc, then Tsukada thought it was taking too long and brought a Tournament against the ones who were supposed to be the last bosses.
Instead of climbing the Elite ten, Souma was given the title in a fight where he technically couldn't lose plot wise and achieved the goal of the story.
Tsukada then fucking continued the manga by introducing a new bad guy badly written with another tournament for the 2nd "plot" which is the romance aspect, that is once again rushed.

Like said it needs 4 chapters to finish a volume. Counting this chapter, there are 14 chapters not in a tankoban, and Soma usually has 9 chapters per volume. So they have enough chapters for volume 34, and are 5 chapters into volume 35. So they'd need 4 more chapters to fill out volume 35, or 13 more chapters to fill out volume 36.

This arc would have been at the very least exciting if we had even just 2 chapters of souma and erina interacting and falling in love.

Even Japan's shit taste can't defend this. Bleach was axed for way less than this.

It likely got axed during the preliminaries. Hence how Soma passed the third gate trial abruptly being skipped, and the lightning pacing we've had since then. The series has been pretty clearly working towards a deadline since then.

Simple; Erina doesn't have the almighty dark blue hair. Since people keep bringing up FT, I'll mention Wendy. Both Wendy and Megumi started off shy, but working throughout many arcs, gained massive development and fortified their characters through their struggles.

Mentioning another manga, it is like comparing Takamura vs Hawk.

Erina had her genes and wealthy parents given to her. She never developed the "boxer or chef backbone" that Megumi developed throughout the manga. Relying on that cheat mod tongue did not help her figure out what to do once that advantage no longer guaranteed victory.

Even if Erina's mother is saved and god forbid, she has a child, as Erina is now, she'll have another character regression if her children start acting all angst-like. She's too emotionally weak once you get past all her outer defenses.

That's why Erina's degregation is an insult to the series. Both Erina and Megumi were presented with flaws and weaknesses that the natural progression of the story would slowly resolve. If this was a race and they both started at the start line, then Megumi is winning by a landslide.

Rio needed more chapters.

So, are we really, really expected to think Souma stands a chance against El Hermano? He just trashed Tsukasa, whom Souma couldn't beat.
We saw Souma being on par with Takumi, who in turn got destroyed by Erina and El Hermano is on par, or maybe even better than her.

So, there are two possible paths: Souma wins through pure bullshit, either he gets a power-up, or Tsukuda comes up with the stupidest excuse as to why he was able to win without superpowers. Another possibility is that he actually loses, but in his match he manages to inspire Erina, who beats El Hermano and manages to make a dish that makes her mum happy.
Either way, things are fucked. In the first path, Souma defeating Asashi is just far beyond any suspension of disbelief. None of his feats are enough to make anyone think he's anywhere near El Hermano's level. In the second path, if he loses the whole thing is anticlimactic as fuck, this this is BLUE of all tournaments, and having the MC lose that would be a huge letdown, yeah, even if we're talking about Souma. That's a win Erina doesn't need, considering she already got her time to shine during the RdC.

Basically, there's no way this is going to be wrapped up in a way that is even slightly satisfying.

It also turns out that Megumi is from a branch family which is why she has a Stand. Kurokiba was stabbed by some legendary knife that Asahi has been searching for and is how he got his stand. The real purpose of BLUE for Asahi was that he went after Souma thinking he had the knife, because the one he got from beating Jou wasn't it.

Souma and El Hermano.
Whilst the Central storyline was really bad, by the end of it there was some sense of hope that things could get better and that the manga could be fun once again. However, as soon as El Hermano showed up, any hope for the better went down the drain. With Azami you could, at least, have a connection to the plot, since his existence explained why Erina was the way she was (although the whole thing was poorly written). However, El Hermano's ties to the plot are close to nil, even his whole thing with Jou feels irrelevant. His existence and role in the manga is unjustified.

As for Souma, I have the idea that, no matter how bad a plot might be, a good MC can make it easy to keep reading, since despite the bad writing and villains, the MC at least makes all the shit a bit more entertaining. Think of Kaze no Stigma. The plot was horrible, but Kazuma made the whole thing worth it. On the other hand, Souma has become a terrible character. He used to be very likeable, but as the story has kept on going, his character has kept on devolving, to the point he's just like a gimmick. He has very little personality, and what little personality he has is like some selfish child.

Erina has also been bad, but whilst some fags try to claim she's the source of the problems in this story, she's actually got very little focus. The issue with her is that either she was underused (like at the beginning of the manga), or that she's been used as a plot device (from Central until now). Then there's also the fact that her character development is all over the place. She started off as a bitch and started defrosting gradually, which was good, but then she got 180d during the Azami arc, turned into some damsel in distress and then into a heroine. Then, in this arc, she went to damsel in distress again. She also went from daddy issues, to mummy issues. So, basically, Tsukuda uses her character as however it's convenient, rather than developing her naturally.

They lost the only chef on their team and she's slowly been phasing herself out since the Autumn Election arc. If you think about it, that arc was the last time side characters actually cooked. They all got skipped in the Stagiare arc. All of them but basically Souma jobbed and became a peanut gallery in the Azami arc. Now not even Souma does any real cooking. What I don't get is why Shueisha doesn't just find a new one.

Here's the reality, Souma was only ever "good" at the very beginning where it was just comfy cooking lessons with a variety of side character interaction. I say "good" because everything was so simple at this point that it would be hard to screw it up.

As soon as the story actually started getting into the Shokugeki tournament structure it went downhill. Not a nosedive, but a decline nonetheless. So it was already dropping by the Elite Ten and from there the downhill became steep.

I'm at least glad the Spice ED happened because of this series existing regardless.

Sometimes there is no need for an announcement to say that this is the final arc.
Many times a series can end without such an announcement though we will usually get an announcement with color pages that it’s ending in x chapters or you can end like reborn did without it.

If I'm being honest, a nosedive in quality this steep means that their chef "assistant" was doing the majority of the writing. Tosh will be fine. The bastard writer will not.

That's the fucking premise though that these guys took that risk. You can't write a cooking manga without cooking. The downfall was inevitable. Without an actual chef the series is basically Ne0-Lation. And I'll actually give Tsukuda credit where it's due. I'm impressed how far he managed to keep this up in the first place. If you didn't know, Tsukuda didn't actually even come up with the premise. Tosh and Tsukuda's editor did. And they brought him as a writer because he wasn't doing anything at the moment. And none of those guys knew a damn thing about food. It literally came from Tosh saying what if hot girls ate good food and their clothes came off. This whole thing was a recipe for disaster from the start.

It's like what Daru does if they attempted to explain what he did instead of handwaving it. And they found a location through "triangulating" the coordinates between 3 Wifi points or some shit like that. I don't remember the details. Some user said it got better but I don't believe that. I read a lot of axebait and U19 club manga to completion if at all possible but I couldn't bear to keep reading this shit. It's not even just bad writing. I got second hand embarrassment just reading it.

Ideally, the manga should have ended after the Central Arc with a timeskip to Soma and his friends' graduating from Tootsuki and Soma having one last climactic cook-off against Jouichirou, but Jump and Shueisha wanted the manga to continue so they could make more money, ultimately turning the manga into a complete trainwreck.

The first tournament was alright. It was longer than I would've liked but the stakes were still reasonable and the story went straight to some great non-tournament developments for a while.
Then the RdC happened, which pit the cast against characters who were supposed to be unreachable endgame bosses for their current skill level, then raised the stakes so high that it would be impossible for the heroes to lose. That was the point where I finally dropped this series.

The whole team took on something they don't have any knowledge in professionally. I really don't know why they can't just find a new chef. It couldn't take that much effort to catch the newbie up on everything. I don't think its current state is a good direction but this series wouldn't become a romantic slice of life like people have been suggesting. At least without cooking. That's just not what it's about. It seems either way real cooking phased itself out and we're left with "cooking".

I doubt the problem is so simple as "oh shit, we don't have a consultant to help us write cooking battles anymore". I suspect after Azami showed up they received some negative feedback as to how long the shokugekis dragged on with all the explanations and such. Their solution was not to try and keep all the explanations concise, but to remove the cooking and the explanations. They also decided to full switch into battle shounen with villains when they'd been drifting into more of a sports shounen competition. We're seeing the results now with the Noirs who could have just as easily been replaced by random Tootsuki graduates and celebrity chefs. The problems then being compounded by the the series rushing through the arc, likely to meet a deadline for ending.

It's implied to randomly show up in the Nakiri line, so it should show up again, even if Erina doesn't have kids.

Purging the Nakiri family is the only way to stop the God Tongue from appearing again.

That's because they kept pulling the 3 stage shit with the secret sauce or ingredient. Obviously that's to increase tension but I guess it got old to some people. I'd have taken that over nothing. People don't know what the fuck they want.

El Hermano can steal and augment the skills of other chefs by using their cooking tools. He can also multiply their "abilities" by combining the usage of different tools at the same time. The end result of his cooking is always better than the original chef's.

Dark chefs and cooking abilities were introduced out of nowhere in this arc. Dark chefs cook by 'extreme' means by using explosions, guillotines, chainsaws, etc.
Characters now have abilities, with Asahi's being the most retarded. He can harness the ability of any chef as long as he wields their knife.

If the series somehow does continue after this arc, I hope Tsukuda just pretends all this never happened. Just have Souma be in a coma and this is what he's dreaming about.

The worst thing about this is that it's basically a rehash of that stalker dude with his tactic of stealing techniques, adding an additional step to the process, then taking their knives as a trophy. Except the stalker made more sense and had more charisma.
