Is Saint Seiya the unluckiest anime franchise ever?
>not popular enough like Dragon Ball to cause mass fan outrage over the crappy production values >also not unpopular enough to fade into complete obscurity so the greedy execs will stop ravaging on it's corpse >instead the series is kept alive in a zombie state as a mere glorified toy commercial
Every single animated entry the franchise had since the second Hades OVA has been utter crap except for Lost Canvas, and that one flopped because the fans probably got used to eat shit on daily basis so instead of second season of LC they got the holy grail of infamously awful sequels that is Omega.
Should I get into it? Saw it as a kid but dunno what's worth reading/watching about it anymore.
Luke Phillips
the original series is cheesy as hell for today standards but still has some charm, but the later entries get progressively worse and worse to the point the author of the Saintia Sho manga had to apologize on twitter because of how shit the anime adaptation is.
Are you trying to imply anime has become less cheesy since then
Evan Brown
technically yes. I mean, they don't repeat the same phrases over and over like a deaf grandpa in SoG, Omega and Saintia since those weren't series made to last for as long as possible
Jackson Ortiz
Have you read Next Dimension? Kurumada just doesn't have any new ideas, and whoring the franchise out is probably better than continuing the series and revealing that.
Gabriel Anderson
try Lost Canvas, if you like it watch the original.
being at mercy of a passionless creator that refuses to improve his art after 3 decades and the studio that is the equivalent of EA games of the anime industry truly is the worst fate ever for any franchise
Xavier Cooper
You're one of those retards who think Omega had to do with LC cancelation huh?
James Evans
yes
Nathan Cox
Lost Canvas a shit
Andrew Garcia
Why do spics love it so much ?
Benjamin Flores
It's literally popular everywhere but the United States.
Owen Lewis
it was one of the first anime they had contact with. Meanwhile the series never scored in the U.S due to having a 4kids-tier dub and editing(they turned Hyoga into a californian that makes ice puns all the time)
Christian Hughes
>Not popular enough like Dragon Ball to have hordes of autistic retards shitposting 24/7 about an inferior sequel. >Popular enough to remain as glorified memories of a happier childhood instead of nitpicking on the stupid plot filled with inconsistences, >Omega, Soul of Gold and Santia Shou are incredibly easy to ignore, unlike Dragon Ball Super, which is endorsed by the author himself. I see the shitposting in the Broly movie and I think it's for the best. Saint Seiya will forever be the over the top shounen, famous for that one arc it did extremely well. Dragon Ball on the other hand will forever be remembered in Yea Forums as the shitstain that started with the powerlevel bullshit that still plagues shounen to this day. Also as the fastest way to bait spics and underage shitposters.
Ethan Morris
except that Saint Seiya will have a Netflix adaptation that will cause a massive shitstorm(that already started) once it is released
Christian Harris
Chinks and frogs love it too. Only burgers never got Saint Seiya
It's impressive how that worst korean managed to piss off absolutely every single demographic from SJW's to purists fans of the franchise. Not that I care anyway, I always cringe when I see a comment of someone saying something like
>"hurr I was bullied because I was a wimpy kid and I loved Shun because he was a pussy just like me"
Generic shounenshit with more in common to nurutu than saint seiya oh muh gorudo seintos so special and unique Having a sob backstory =/= being a good character. I'm looking at you, Albafica Got popular with the fandom because the gold saint fanwank, the fujoshis and the butthurt Pisces/Cancer/Taurus
Why is Kurumada so stubborn about improving his art? Kinnikuman is from the same era as Saint Seiya and while the art in the original run was dogshit, the art in the current revival arc is absolutely kino
>worst korean Eugene Song an American who happen to have Korean heritage. To be fair, you have to be 100% white to be accepted as a real burger or else you're always viewed as something in-between even if you born there
Jonathan Jackson
Why does everyone keep pushing this meme? Kurumada's hand got fucked and he's an old alcoholic. His art isn't getting any better. I actually got worse if you compare it to the end of Saint Seiya and some of his works after that.
James Miller
Kurumada's hand is fucked after decades of hotblooded drawings and alcohol. He lives everyday with an indescriptable pain that only get worse when he pick a pencil.
Jaxon Torres
Can't he just hire a bunch of assistants to help him? He probably is one of the richest mangaka in Japan
Michael Roberts
>Why does everyone keep pushing this meme? Because it's cool to disregard the authors in favor of faceless corporations and hacks
Actually Kurumada has many assistants but his hand is still fucked and he won't pass the drawings to somebody else. To be fair, Kurumada would never made it as a mangaka if he wasn't a stubborn son of a bitch. He always did things his way even if it got him in troubles with Shueisha or gave him a bad reputation in the land of comformism. That's who he is, for better or in this case for worse.
Reminder, that Eugene and his team of cheerful idiots are just rabid dogs, they only do what their nature dictates, whatever series they would have written would have been the same, those who released the straps were:
> kurumada production > netflix > toei (eat fuck fans of saint seiya) animation
fuck eugene and his lame ass justification, im not a big fan of shun but i respect his character for what he is and what represents, is ironic that in this day and age when everyone wants to make wimpy sensitive male protagonist like steven universe, saint seiya already handle it far better and they want to change that
Ian Taylor
Didn't Eugene close his twitter account?
Adrian Edwards
yes after that explanation that really doesn't feel fully justified for making that decision
Jeremiah Brooks
Again, only with spics. You aren't spics, are you? Heck, I am a spic and I don't really care. Not like I'm going to watch it.
Evan Taylor
Cringe reasonings also get lost.
Asher Lopez
no, Saint Seiya pretty terrible unless you have nostalgic feeling towards it and it's positive aspects were done better in other shounen
Lincoln Long
It's a dramatic battle shonen, so try it if you like heroes and colorful armors. The manga is more direct to the point, the anime has better character design and godly music, but lots of fillers and contradictions.
Also, don't do this . Lost Canvas is a non canon official fanfic that tried to "fix" the classic series by copying the same characters with "better" stories and personalities.
Adrian Ortiz
And that's false. Your taste is the only terrible thing there.
Thomas Rodriguez
Was Last Canvas the last good SS? Omega and Sainitia Sho were a steaming pile of shit
