Which shonen MC had the best goal?
Which shonen MC had the best goal?
Asta. He wants to end systemic oppression of the working people.
>Yfw Naruto didn't archive his goal and people are still dying not by ninja wars but from coups and technological experiments
I mean his original goal was to be hokage which he achieved, eventhough It turned out being hokage wasn't as cool as it seemed.
I kinda wonder if kid naruto would still want to become hokage if he knew It was nothing but boring desk work.
>end of naruto
>me expecting Naruto to be Jiraiya and help people around the world for peace and shit
>naruto just becomes hokage and fixes literally nothing
Gintoki
Senku
Deku for me. Something about justice and protecting the innocent makes me root for him
Well what does his son want to achieve? Is it better?
Well, to be fair he just wanted to be Hokage to have all the village's recognition, but it all was achieved before becoming Hokage, by the end of Pain arc . So then he just went for the hokage title for the meme
He probably did to be a an example to kids
The ones that have a goal beyond "I want to be the very best like no one ever was" or the "one for all" utilitarianism trappings that society set up for people like them that sadly, most will eventually falls for.
Denji
Yoh Asakura wanting to be Shaman King so he could live an easy life, then wanting to make a world where everyone can dream.
>Thread
I also remembered Yoh when seeing thread, albeit I remember his goal being so no person would be lonely. Coupled with the frame of kid Yoh sitting on the porch. Been a while since I read it.
Unironically Goku.
Luffy, Deku, Naruto, Asta and so on have too specific goals. "Be the best" is too specific to the point where you're almost sure they're gonna end up achieving them at the end anyway. It's too predictable, gives the characters far too much focus and there's less tension as a result. Not to mention there's no story to tell once they've achieved their goals. Naruto is a mess now and HxH has switched to Kurapika now that Gon has met Ging (different kind of goal but overly specific anyway)
Vague goals are the best. Goku just wants to get stronger. Not "be the strongest" though he inevitably does, just be the strongest he can possibly be. Self-improvement is a noble goal, a relatable and interesting one too. You also never really know if Goku will win a fight because no opponent is really interfering with his goal of becoming stronger - his W/L ratio is pitiful and he lost 2 tournaments after all.
Ichigo gets a shout as well for wanting to live a normal life and protect his friends. Much more mundane but worthy of respect all the same.
He wants to become like Sasuke because he is cool
Oh.
Agreed about Goku, disagree about Ichigo. I can understand his desire to be a normal dude but at the same time it's too generic of a goal for a guy that's supposed to be the protagonist of a shounen action series.
Ed and Al for me. They have the most realistic and immediately engaging goal and work well together
