The best movement was Gouki Shadow Ogre back in episode 39. And there were more complicated movements in other episodes. There were certainly better expressions in episodes than this one. Some of the expressions just made soulburner look bad this episode.

How is VRAINS? I stopped keeping up with these series when Zexal dropped the heart of the cards pretense and gave the MC the superpower of outright cheating at card games by literally magically manifesting cards into his hand that didn't exist before, and everyone was okay with it.

Bohman is going to beat down Revolver before he and PM face off. This arc is set up so Bohman an have every Ignis but Ai before the fight starts.

It's alright, though the twists are arguably worse.

In DM the card game was a vehicle for the drama. This got less and less so as the card game became the focus. Same thing happened with Gundam. Instead of a war drama Sunrise was like make if about cool robots so we can sell these cool robot toys and then SEED happened.

I like the card game, but the focus should always be characters first and WHY they are playing rather than WHAT or HOW they play.

That is arguably the correct play. Judai's playing GX era E-HEROs. He doesn't much for first turn options because all of his boss monsters are protectionless beatstick fusions, and the cards he was holding were just empty advantage anyways if he had opted not to play them. If nothing else, his set card is a trap for battle protection. The only other option would have been to summon Bubbleman, but that basically just boils down to hoping he topdecks the right two cards to let him fuse.. a slightly bigger beatstick than Neos, which is just as vulnerable to spot removal.

People are correct in that going minus four to summon Neos is extremely far from an ideal play. What a lot of people forget is that a non-ideal play can still one of your better moves if your hand leaves you without alternatives, and that preserving card advantage has to actually be meaningful.
