From the shadows this looks like it's taking place inside the school, but we see Shinsha and Bort standing over Phos in grassland. So it seems like the order is:
i) Phos is attacked outside by Shinsha and Bort, ii) She persuades them/is taken in to Sensei, he does something that's surprising the gems, iii) When she starts to talk all of them attack her, iv) Phos is lying shattered on the ground, Is that right? I think it's just precedent for war. Achmea doesn't even try to hide it with Cairngorm, they're preparing for a large scale battle. The entire characterization of Bortz from the beginning of the manga is how autistic he is and how he doesn’t let any emotion get in the way of his actions. It’s much more likely that he wanted to completely incapacitate Phos so that he 100% can’t harm Kongo (remember the earth gems have no idea what the moonies are capable of; if they can heal Pads who knows what crazy power up they could give to Phos) instead of due to harbouring some resentment.
I personally am not a fan of people throwing out Ichikawa’s characterizations whenever it’s convenient for their made up narratives but go off I guess.

Did you not read the post? One of the points is that the earth gems have no idea what moon tech is capable of, so of course Bortz is going to assume the worst. Think about it for a sec: if they can heal Pads then who’s to say they couldn’t make Phos’s body remote-controllable? Beheadig Phos wouldn’t be enough then.
Bortz was more likely working under a similar assumption, given how autistic he is towards fighting, and the only sure fire way to incapacitate Phos under this assumption is to shred him up.

Pad is the pragmatic gem. Bortz is very pragmatic and efficient, but not quite as much, and we see several times where he lets his emotions through while fighting. Him not going for the quickest kill here, may imply that this is one of those times, but we can't know for sure until the full chapter comes out.

The issue with Earthfags is that you've got no ground to stand on. Earthfags are people content with the status quo who did not try or refused to change the system in place, despite the suffering of Gems and the Slugs. For as violent as the Moonmen are, and as likely there to be some deceit in their actions, they are still the ones trying to subvert the status quo.
Consider Bort and Cinnabar, the two characters on the Earth side with the most development. Bort is the pinnacle of gem kind and thus of course they wish to maintain the status quo, while projecting all the flaws in the status quo on other gems. Dia left for the moon because of this but Bort refuses to acknowledge it. Cinnabar is an outsider forced out for being a threat to a status quo, who the moment she's acknowledged by the "group" disregards all previous misgivings because she's "a part" now. She also lashes out throughout the series at Phos in all their attempts to reach out because Phos does not do it in the way they like, showing ultimately Cinnabar is all talk and no action and can not even empathize with the level of suffering Phos has gone through, too fixated on themselves.
Anti-Phos posters are either idiots or try hards, because throughout the entire manga, Phos is the only one really trying to change the world from it's stagnation. But she's an idiot, we all know she's an idiot and so she suffers cause she's the only idiot not content with how things are. You argue that Phos should have not betrayed Sensei, but consider the revelation Phos received on the move. The fundamental betrayal of trust on Sensei's part about the nature of this entire conflict, the feigned ignorance and Pho's own suffering while Sensei either gaslights or stone walls Phos.

I never said that. Phos committed treason and they have all the reasons in the world not to trust him but unlike last time Phos came alone, unarmed and during the day. I can see Euclase putting Bortz and Shinsha on patrol since they are most capable of neutralizing other gems however Euclase clearly wanted to talk with Phos until Karen came in, so their orders most likely are to retrieve Phos and incapacitate her only if she fights back. In the leaks we see Phos trying to talk with the others and he clearly is not fighting, Bortz comes from behind and whips Phos with the intent to break her. If he wanted just to incapacitate her he could had just cut the legs or the head. Also their undestanding of technology is pretty much 0, how would they assume Phos is being remote controlled if they lack the concept of remote controlling? And with Pads, as far as they know the moonies just filled his holes, just a quick guess because of his revealing outfit.
