Which mangaka or seiyuu clearly have some debilitating mental health condition such as extreme social anxiety, depression, etc? How is this expressed in their work, if at all?
Pic very related.

i dont know about debilitating conditions but i was always under the impression that the more popular a mangakas work, especially the more popular and long running series is, the closer they are to literally working themselves to death.

doesnt hajime no ippo author take frequent breaks due to health reasons?

if you wanted a tkmz thread you could've just said it.

tkmz is indeed a prime example along with Kumeta. Post more cute suicidal potatoes.

I'm convinced Mohiro Kitoh has some kind of mental illness since all his works are depressing as fuck

>narutaru
>bokurano
Maybe he just likes seeing children die?

Yukarin's been on suicide watch for a while now. I wonder how she must have felt when recording Lulu's goodbye.

None. They all work and have friends, their mental problems are posing to attract audience

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, dude has social anxiety and it's painful seeing him in an seiyuu event with more than one female there.

You're right, you can't have any problems in life if you have a job and friends.

thats right, not mental health problems described in op at least.

He must be happy that Kirito now has a male BFF then

BF*

Who happens to be voiced by his actual BFF. Poor him in the second half.

If you're just a regular person, then I partially agree (it really depends on the exact mental condition). But for artists having mental health issues sort of comes with the territory, and it won't get in your way as much. No editor would refuse to work with a mangaka, or an author, because they have mental health issues. If they did, they'd never sign any artists. I mean, just look at the entire music industry.
And as far as friends go, we don't really know if these people have any friends.

Zetsubou Sensei is a healthy manga

Not sure if you're joking, and the manga does have some positive messages, but it's the most painfully self-derogatory piece of work I've ever read in my life. This is especially apparent if you read the tankobon extras (translations up to vol. 14). The whole manga reads like Kumeta is trying to convince himself not to commit suicide, rather than his readers.

It's still a masterpiece, though.

You didn't even post the best Kumeta one.

It depends on the way you look at it. I find it relaxing.

God, I love Kumeta

I mean, I do too, but that's only because I self-insert as Kumetan. I identify strongly with his brand of self-hatred, and it eases my mind to know that someone out there has put my feelings to print.

Would SHAFT really ask that of Kumeta? You’d think if they were that dependent on his manga they’d at least ADAPT THE FUCKIN’ ENDING

Unfortunately impossible now that Matsuki Miyu is gone. They really couldn't do the ending justice without all of the girls.

>the chad Ken Akamatsu vs the virgin Koji Kumeta

Isnt Kumeta’s newest manga rather fluffy and light hearted? Kakushigoto iirc
And its pretty damn great too. Shame that it wont get an anime adaption anytime soon

Well one of the most obvious cases is Welcome to the NHK author, who was a hikikomori himself and wrote a novel about a hikikomori.

Since his friend and former assistant Hata Kenjiro got a seiyuu wife and is writing a manga about a lovey-dovey married couple, Kumeta is extra salty

I suspect this guy is mentally ill, or he just had lots of crazy women in his life.

>basically Kumita since the days of Love Hina never fail to troll Ken whenever he could, the most likely reason general public can come out with is he is jealous at Ken being a life winner, (otaku being a successful, rich mangaka marry to a young, pretty, cosplay wife.) Kumita himself never give a reason for his actions.
Never thought Kumeta was that much of a bitter virgin, truly /ourguy/

he has to have some sort of mental illness

What chapter are the raws up to? I see the last TLs are from around October.

This guy is probably not OK in the head either.

>"...You can see on many many events prior to NGNL that Matsuoka needs huge personal space because he's uncomfortable around people. Like 2-3 chair distances of space. Some live feeds/events tried to work around this with creative seating spacing or put Matsuoka on a separate table as a guest/host position. Many sets also just gave up and allowed this huge awkward space to be displayed. It's wasn't too uncommon for him to be the MC and the heroine to sit on the opposite part of the stage or a line of guys sitting between him and the girls regardless of their significance to the story."

jesus fuck

To this day I'm sure that Shinkai got dumped by his high school girlfriend and it took him like 4 movies to get over with it

At least I'm not that far gone

It's painful to look at him

poor guy, I want to give him a hug

Same, and he's actually very fun in events with a full male cast, but he gets all awkward suddenly when there's a girl.

*Kills his anxiety and woman fear*
