How come it's so rare for an anime to be as popular as Darling in the Franxx? There were some days where almost 100% of the threads in the catalog were DiTF, and every single board had DiTF shitposting. Even /fit/ somehow had discussions on DITF

It was still nowhere near as big as Oreimo's OVA or the end of Endless Eight.

normie marketing and appeal, shame how it's fallen to the dustbin for how retarded the second half was

A variety of reasons. First of all, Darling in the Franxx pandered to a great variety of demographics. It had the male-demographic on-board due to cute girls and a meek, "literally me" type protagonist as well as mecha action. But it also had a female demographic on-board due to a large, mixed-gender cast and the typical soap opera / relationshit drama that comes along with it. The Gundam SEED series or Code Geass managed to do the same - but much more successfully, especially because they also did much more fujoshit pandering. Also, they didn't alienate parts of their demographic halfway through and didn't completely fail in terms of storytelling.
Lastly it should be considered that shows like Code Geass or DitF inflated their popularity in terms of presence on the board due to bringing outside demographics in here. A lot of the fanbase of DitF came straight out of reddit and didn't understand how things work here, randomly starting threads all over the place. Luckily Franxx turned to complete shit and a large part of the fanbase abandoned it, otherwise we would have been in for a real treat when it ended. The ending of Code Geass was a complete disaster on Yea Forums, a raid of outside normalfags and general retards spamming the board with threads, with only the Strike Witches thread having been a refuge for the actual Yea Forumsnons.

Tbh, Trigger on anything just makes it just a hype machine

Manga chapter 42 in 2 days, 22 hours and 30 minutes!

Hoping for exciting new developments, and a better ending

Original nonpredictable anime full of whores and epic scenes no matter brilliant were they or shitty wastefull

you have to have to right mixture of entertaining, melodrama, shitposting, and wordly themes to be a hit

yeah, those gridman threads were real hype, user

It was really shit.
The fat cuck and his whore triggered a lot of discussions, too.

Let's be fair the only reason Franxx got any traction was because of the Trigger logo, if it was a fucking A-1 production only then no one would even give it a second look. I dropped franxx after the fist episode because i knew it was just going to force the whole "system man bad" Thing all fucking season and they were going to be the end villains. Haven't watched gridman and i haven't seen the threads because apparently me being comatose in a hospital for a couple of months and having a pc in there is a bad idea.

nobody cares about trigger

Say that to Inou Battle, Kiznaiver, Ninja Slayer and Gridman. Soon Promare as well

franxx gets more threads daily than any of those

These threads are circlejerks of the same three people who still cling to their dead show because they haven't yet coped with the fact that it was shit.

before franxx there were boomers reminiscing about kill la kill in same way
time is a flat circle

Kokoro was a cute

before kill la kill was Steins:Gate

I only started liking Hiro when he just started to do whatever the fuck he wanted, including hurting Ichigo's feelings. Too bad the show was up shit creek without a peddle by then.

Flat circle with a downward slope in quality. Steins;Gate 1 was better than KlK and Franxx wasn't as good its predecesor.

it was new, very much hyped and highly controversial.

Same here. In a previous thread I called him a faggot and had my (rather foolish) hopes that best girl would kill him eventually. That was after episode 10 or there about. But his development as a character was good to see. Besides Zero Two, the way Hiro changed was propably the best thing about that whole series.

I dream that they redo the whole thing at some point in the future. Darling in the Franxx had a lot of potential and it would be a shame to see it descend into obscurity, just to be treated as an inside joke on Yea Forums in a couple years.

It's already being redone

If Hiro is a "literally me" thpe of protagonist then people on Yea Forums are generic and boring.
Also no doubt you're virgin if you think that.

>how to out yourself as a newfag straight out of reddit in one post

what, by the manga? that doesn't count

>if it's not animated it doesn't count

DitF ran off the power of studio fame and totally embracing garbage shit-tier normalfag waifus.
02 is a low effort disgrace compared to any other mecha girl, but newfags ate that shit up because
> O M g SHE GOT HORNS????

All I know is that during its original run,I was having the comfiest time in many years
Comfy,mememe,Madero
