People start reading the manga because they get invested in the characters, and the portrayal of the characters being both comprehensive of animation and VA has a big impact on generating investment. The VA carry the animation aspect really hard which creates interest. And there's also people who might not bother watching Bokuben because they weren't attracted by the big shiny names, which may result in it not having the same success as 5toubun. I'd say that overall given 5toubun's case it is not doomed but it definetely has lower chances.

Reiji gave Fumino a lipstick from the brand that Shizuru loved as her belated birthday present.

Next day, Asumi noticed Fumino had it on as they waited for Nariyuki. The former immediately realized the slogan for that color, and teased if the latter is planning to seduce Nariyuki with that. Naturally, Fumino denied vehemently, but it also reminded her of her kiss back at the Cultural Festival.

Just then, Fumino noticed a little girl was excited to read a copy of the story book "Nyapoleon Z", and Asumi casually mentioned that Nariyuki was wearing one back at the festival.

Nariyuki then arrived at the library right as Asumi need to leave for work. Fumino became very focused on studying so to not be distracted by what she had just learned...to no avail.

Fumino then went the restroom to wash her face as she cleared her mind, but was very agitated by that event, and that it was Nariyuki who she kissed. Meanwhile Nariyuki noticed that Fumino was acting strange, and after noticing the lipstick, he concluded that she was mad that he failed to notice it was a question on understanding a woman's heart.

With both on different contexts, Nariyuki and Fumino's conversations slowly led up to Fumino believing that he wanted to kiss her for making her think the kiss was trivial, while Nariyuki wanted to reapply the lipstick she washed off.

The truth, however, eventually came out, and both were apologizing for what happened.

She'll get back to chapters like the weight-gain one or the unfortunate gift.
