New episode today.
Are you ready?

No. I'm not. I don't even know what it's about.
I hope King doesn't job to the red-haired dick.
King's section better not take half the fucking episode.
Sorry King but it's the second-to-last episode, we more important shit going on.
With that out of the way, post best wife.
Meet my boyfriend and future wife, Haiji.
It did, and it was good. I liked it better than what they've shown from Kakeru's section so far, actually.
Break a leg, Haiji.
Calm down Kakeru, you have to win your section first.
you are already passed
are we using this or the another thread? Im still at college anyway
I wonder if they're going to follow up on Kakeru's love. I know what it's originally referring to, but they might just pull a "he loves running" in the anime instead given how they've handled things.
>running at interdimensional speed
Damn Kakeru, don'tslow down
He is preparing for a hyperspace jump. He will appear in front of Fujioka's nose.
Another fantastic episode. I'm not ready for this masterpiece to end
this isn't regular running anymore
this is interdimensional running
Getting in the zone is such a great feeling.
You can go from feeling like your body's about to collapse straight to feeling light as a feather. All your senses are heightened tenfold, your body does exactly what you want it to do before you even realize it and you feel like you could keep going like that forever, no matter how tired you were a second ago.
Of course, Kakeru got into the zone immediately because he's a freak athlete, but the show still did such a fantastic job of capturing that incredible high.
I don't want it to end, bros ;_;
*teleports in front of you*
Heh... nothing personnel... kid
I DON'T WANT IT TO FUCKING END ;_; I LOVED ALL OF THEM, THE JOURNEY WAS AMAZING.
What? I thought it was supposed to be running. What is it referring to? Don't tell me it's Haiji
"I love running" was the first thing that came to mind too. Then I thought, "nah that's too easy. It's definitely best girl Haiji."
>that's lovely my dear
It's Prince
I don't think they are going to bring Hana into this, at this point the anime is its own thing and Kakeru and Hana talked like 2 times.
I doubt it's going to be Haiji, but the timing is suspicious.
Dead thread. One episode left guys.
>He cooks
>He clean
>He makes you /fit/
>show makes me want to run
>terrified of going outside
How are they going to wrap this up next episode? Kakeru's section is not finished yet, and there's still Haiji's suffering to deal with. One episode is not enough
>You're already behind me!
Kakeru is gonna run the entire marathon himself in world record time but get disqualified
Why not? Each part took approximately 10 minutes. Skip the OP, play the epilogue during th ED is more than enough time to finish Kakeru's race and start Haiji
do what i do and run at 6 in the morning, nobody about, just you and the ground
hard work fags btfo
The outside is nothing to fear, user!
If other people give you anxiety, you should know no one gives a shit about what you're doing: they're all too busy with their own lives.
The way the story went make me feel like they are setting up Kakeru to be in love with Haiji, to bad they'll never say outright.
Kakeru liked Hana in the book?
Reminder that Haiji and Kakeru will have sex in the final episode.
I find that amusing coming from an anime where a shut in nerd, a former smoker, and a hard drinking clubber all became peak collegiate athletes in the span of one year.
Yeah. He clearly doesn't in the anime though, they barely talk.
Hana likes the twins in both book and anime, though.
>Kakeru got into "the zone"
I'll miss this show so much.
Real talk, the evolution of their relationship and Kakeru's character development have been beautiful.
>tfw last week will be the last time people will discuss this show
>It's not even popular like HQ so you won't see it mentioned again
>Doujins won't get scanlated
Are there even any doujins though
Yeah, it has some dedicated fanartis.
king is literally me
stop dirtying the image of this holy anime with your disgusting fanfic
I want to say he loves his teammates, or it could just be "running". It better not be Haiji though. Throwing in such garbage fujo pandering right at the end of the show would be really disappointing.
I thought the scene pretty much implied that the answer was running, what with the timing of the converstation and Kakeru's inner monologuing about how great running is. In any case I really doubt it's going to be one specific person with the whole focus of the series being getting the courage to find something you love and doing it regardless of what your situation may be, and since all of the previous love talks have been played for laughs if anything.
stop making them gay
>. Throwing in such garbage fujo pandering right at the end of the show would be really disappointing.
Now I just want it to trigger retards like you.
Honestly though, why would anyone even care at this point if that actually happened? This show had zero fanservice and fujo pandering, instead focused on brilliantly developing the whole cast and particularly the relationship between the two male leads. Whether it's actually gay or just your usual "I'm in love with sport" dumb thing it would feel natural to the story. If you seriously think the aim of this show was to please fujos you are terribly wrong.
>Show mostly aimed at women should not please women
Stay classy Yea Forums. Still don't understand each anime has a target audience.
I feel like it could be more than simply running though because he's grown to care for and rely on his teammates. The part where everything goes dark and he thinks about being alone forever felt like it was implying that his purpose for running now isn't just for himself, especially when he sees everyone else on the team running ahead of him.
>Honestly though, why would anyone even care at this point if that actually happened? This show had zero fanservice and fujo pandering
Precisely because of this. If they suddenly just went full fujo at the end when the series steered fairly clear of it, it would be super cheap.
>Precisely because of this. If they suddenly just went full fujo at the end when the series steered fairly clear of it, it would be super cheap.
Not really.
>This show had zero fanservice
Bro this show used to have naked dudes every other episode.
>mostly aimed at women
Where'd you get that from? Pretty sure this is seinen.
>went full fujo
Maybe if the show was just about running that'd be true, but it's not. It's more about the characters and how this has been a life changing experience for them.
>Precisely because of this. If they suddenly just went full fujo at the end when the series steered fairly clear of it, it would be super cheap.
What about it would feel super cheap? I don't think it will happen, but if it did, Kakeru and Haiji's relationship evolved pretty natural and became quite intimate over the course of the show. Couple with pre-run talk is not wonder so many people got the idea.
Seems like you are just triggered by gays. Also
>This show had zero fanservice
Yeah, all those naked dudes with nipples taking bath saunas together clearly were not eye-candy for the female audience.
>Where'd you get that from? Pretty sure this is seinen.
It's originally a book. Probably has to do with the cast of 10+ dudes constantly getting naked each ep. More than fujo is clearly aimed at girls. Did you miss all the dudes bitching during the first episodes because "LMAO NAKED DUDES GAYS"?
For some reason people on Yea Forums seem to have a problem distinguish target audiences for these shows.
this, didn't expect him to have such a relatable backstory I teared up once again
>No implications or any build up of a gay romance for the whole show
>Suddenly last episode "I'm in love with another man"
>not cheap
Fuck off fujo. It would be an absolute blemish on this otherwise amazing show if they did that.
Can we just not do this? It's obviously not going to happen regardless since that's not what the series is about, and since apparently Kakeru did have a canon love interest in the novels the fact that it got completely ignored in the anime pretty much cements the fact that romantic love, regardless of the subject of affection, is not imporant at this point. Even the whole deal with Hana and the twins has been a comedic relief so far, and Shindo breaking up with his girlfriend was such a small event the person himself hardly mentioned it. A love confession from Kakeru towards anyone at this point would feel really weird and out of place with the whole theme and underlying message of the series.
The mood between the team is so wholesome it'd just feel like a last minute asspull if that suddenly turned into "yeah Kakeru wants the D". I don't mind people joking about it, I don't mind people shipping whatever they feel like and sharing it here, but I really don't want another show to turn into an eternal fight about if it's canon gay or not and why it totally could and should be canon or why the fujos are totally BTFO. This series deserves way better than that.
>Athletes bathing/showering together is gay
I guess every professional athlete out there is just pretending to have a wife and they're actually butt fucking each other in the showers.
Not that user but there has been more development between Haiji and Kakeru than between Joji and Hana.
>A manga adaptation by Sorata Unno launched in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump in 2007. It moved to Monthly Young Jump in 2008, where it ran until 2009
I dunno mang. To preface this, I haven't read it. I could see them added the fan service to attract a female audience too, but I would still say it's seinen.
Pretty sure you're just a homophobic 14 year old, user.
>This series deserves way better than its fanbase on Yea Forums
Fixed.
>>Athletes bathing/showering together is gay
Tell that to the people bitching, not me.
Also, it's an anime, dummy. Who do you think this show is aimed to? The straight dudes audience who get triggered if there is more than one male?
Fanservice =/= gay
The original story is a novel. Written by a woman. Who wrote a BL manifesto.
Now, I'm not saying the original novel is gay, I'm say the anime is certainly more aimed at women then men.
It could definitely be done well. Either way it's going to be labeled as fujoshit. That's what happens when a show like this shows real emotional attachment between teammates and friends.
But this is meta and not worth talking about. People will remember the show however they want and you srsposting wont change that.
In a romantic sense, no there hasn't. But fujos will always spin any type of intimacy as romantic. They've clearly grown closer as friends and teammates but not in a homosexual sense.
>fujos have to ad hominem to desperately hang on to their beloved ship
Most sports anime are aimed at a general audience but obviously fujos cling on to them because of the predominantly male casts. Haikyuu is a perfect example of this.
>not in a homosexual sense
Good to know that feelings can't develop while becoming close to someone.
>Most sports anime are aimed at a general audience but obviously fujos cling on to them because of the predominantly male casts. Haikyuu is a perfect example of this.
Haikyuu is a shounen jump series, it also features way less fanservice than this. Go back and read Kaze's first episodes, half of the threads was people bitching about "meh gay fanservice" because of the bath scenes.
Not sure why you are so triggered at the thought some series are more aimed at women than men?
>Most sports anime are aimed at a general audience
I'm sure production I.G. didn't know this was going to be more popular than girls than boys, it's not like they have been in the industry for 20+ years.
Post cute Haijis.
I'm not though? You all seem to be equating homosexual relationships with series targeted at women which is fucking stupid. It's not a given that every series made with a female audience in mind has to be about a bunch of gay dudes.
>It's not a given that every series made with a female audience in mind has to be about a bunch of gay dudes.
You are right, but what it has to do with the discussion?
It's not a huge stretch to say Kaze was aimed at a female audience when the first episodes featured so many bath scenes, there is a huge cast of dudes and all merchandise is about dudes. What confuses you?
>You are right, but what it has to do with the discussion?
Are you just trying to play stupid or what? You're all trying to say a homosexual relationship in this show would be justified simply because "it's targeted at women" and "there's naked dudes".
>You're all trying to say a homosexual relationship in this show would be justified simply because "it's targeted at women" and "there's naked dudes".
No? People were arguing if they decided to pull a Kakeru/Haij ending it would make sense the show spent a lot of time developing their relationship more than any other relationship.
Kakeru's fallen in love with running, it's not hard to see that.
No one is seriously implying that Haiji and Kakeru are going to date for real. It's this faggot who started shit because he's scared about homo
King can't be this cute
Not in a romantic sense like I said previously. They're good friends and teammates, nothing more. Sorry but just because they have a fairly intimate relationship it doesn't make sense for them to suddenly be gay.
Sorry that fujos get so fucking triggered by anyone that doesn't like their shit. It was really just an offhand comment but fujos can't possibly stand the fact that one of "their" shows is watched by people that don't like homo shit being thrown in.
I was not prepared for that king backstory
>episode 23 is the last
>That one Fujo who posts screencaps from the first 2 episodes
I'm already married to him.
My best guess is he loves running but I smirked at the thought of him loving Haiji.
>Sorry that fujos get so fucking triggered by anyone that doesn't like their shit.
The only one triggered by shit is you. Who should give a shit about what you want? Every fucking season there is some moron who watches show for girls and complains all the way to the last episode, anyone who has been there for some years know it.
Jesus christ, you even managed to watch shit like Free and YoI and still complain. See you next season when sarazai airs.
He is basically more like the people here than Prince really is.
Sorry but just because they have a fairly intimate relationship it makes perfect sense for them to be gay
I'll miss these threads that never lasted more than one day.
Prince isn't actually much like Yea Forumsnons at all. He's very confident about his hobbies and he can talk with people.
It's ronery on the top with only skin-deep relationships.
That's why Kings used to get together a brotherhood of cool dudes and seek ADVENTURE.
>Jesus christ, you even managed to watch shit like Free and YoI and still complain.
Great job projecting there. You have no idea if I've ever even watched those shows but sure thing man. I guess I'm never allowed to watch a sports anime and want their to not be fujoshit because they're all for girls and thus have to have homo relationships in them. Also I'm not the one who got triggered. I made an offhand comment about not wanting fujoshit to take over the show at the end and I get swarmed upon by seething land whales. But sure I'm just frothing at the mouth because I'm so insecure and I'm "afraid" of homosexuality.
Me too. It's been a good 6 months, brother.
>Great job projecting there. You have no idea if I've ever even watched those shows but sure thing man.
No, I know your kind because your inability to understand the industry.
>Also I'm not the one who got triggered. I made an offhand comment about not wanting fujoshit to take over the show at the end and
You literally got triggered. Just a mention sent you into a frenzy. You literally think adding some homo at the end of the show is bad and would ruin it, somehow turning the show into "fujoshi" (Why would it be bad? Oh wait, because it triggers you). >seething land whales.
See, I can tell who you are and why you think because you all also type the same - like your inability to understand not everyone who disagree with you is a "fujo". You have a bizarre "Us vs me" mentality which cripples your inability to understand a lot of things, you see all anime aimed at you except the extremes and you simply cannot cope when you find something that you like but doesn't follow what you think is expected by a narrative.
Again, see you next season while you pick another show aimed at girls or someone who is not you and then you'll spend the next 13 episodes complaining about it because you are just too clueless.
It's just a dude watching fujosport getting triggered by homo, ignore him.
>You literally got triggered.
I don't think you know what that word means. Having a different opinion doesn't mean I'm triggered, and yes inserting homo at the end would ruin the entire message of this show. Also I know it's mostly roasties attacking me because any sane male watching this show wouldn't give a shit that someone else doesn't want it to end in such a way.
>fujosport
The author does nothing, but hetero stuff, if you have to even bother labelling it as such. The director and the writer of the show are both men.
I love the anime, haven't even read the fighting, don't care if any of the character is a dick hungry whore, but you are wrong.
>I don't think you know what that word means
Uh-uh, let's see:
>Having a different opinion doesn't mean I'm triggered, a
>and yes inserting homo at the end would ruin the entire message of this show.
You literally think the whole show (a 23 episodes long show with countless characters and messages) would be ruined if they inserted some homo elements on one character. Again, people like you are pretty common so it's easy to see how much you got triggered.
>Also I know it's mostly roasties attacking
Nope. You smell of Yea Forumsermin. Did you cry when Free was announced?
Which shows are going to watch next season failing to completely understand they may not be aimed at you? Do you understand a narrative that doesn't please you isn't inherently bad?
People who read the book, how does it end?
Too be fair fujoshits should always be treated like subhumans. Faggot.
Missing out on life Yea Forumsnon
This is hilarious. I can tell you're seething with how you think that comment makes me triggered.
>Leave thread for a couple hours
>Hoping to come back and read nice /runningbros/ posts
>It became a shit-flinging contest instead
>mfw
It's OK user, muggers only care about robbing horribly unfit middle-aged women. You'll be fine.
Calm down pussy.
Post more of my future wife, Haiji
>ywn have a cute wife that will threaten to leave you homeless unless you run in his team
Why even live?
King's backstory hit too close to home. Teared up a bit.
>thought Prince was literally me but it's actually King that's literally me
Wow, I'm a messed up royal family.
To be fair, he was talking about the literal 1% of the 1%
Something something pic related
My guy just entered peak flow.
>show makes me want to run
>60 pounds overweight so I'll probably just destroy my knees
>ran cross country in middleschool
>was actually pretty good
>quit in highschool so I could play WoW more
>show genuinely inspired me to get back into running
>fat and weak now, all the speed and stamina I had 6 years ago is gone
I really never should have given it up
Just start slowly, my dude.
Walk and do light jogging (with shorter steps, to minimize impact).
This plus decent enough food will make wonders in no time.
Just embrace the inspiration while it lasts and do something to change yourself for the better.
Make Haiji proud.
I was sedentary and skinnyfat during highschool (and kept that way for about 8 years).
Got into shape in 2016 than just stopped altogether and threw the progress away last year.
It really sucks now, but I've been back to running/calisthenics since the show started.
Still shit, but trying to get under 25min 5k.
Just start now and you'll be back in no time.
I was sedentary not too long ago. Started with the couch to 5k and now I feel like I have never been healthier my entire life.
Everyday I look in the mirror and I am always surprised how good I look.
Well baited I guess.
The themes wouldn't resonate well with chicks desu desu.
Fix your diet first lad.
Was not expecting King's episode to hit me this hard. He was easily my least favourite character for most of the series.
That's probably because King is you.
>Was thinking fucking why
>Then realized I actually did this in middle school and high school
King is like most anons but I fail to feel quite as bad for him as the other characters because it's our own faults that we're this way. ;_;
I wish Haiji was a girl.
Damn.
Imagine liking the twins over any of the other guys, especially Haiji. Hana has some shit taste.
I thought that said gay
If you think about it, King's earlier actions in the series perfectly fits in with his capstone this episode. When practicing he did it half assed and used his job and position as a senior to brush them off. But once the team showed how much they wanted him in and pushed him a little he was happy to fully commit. So far only the Twins have had a really a run where their "closure" was really something pulled out in the last few episodes, which is very impressive.
>Haiji?
>I Haven't Heard That Name In Years
This, at least the thread kept alive
>Thought it was 24 episodes
>mfw "Last Episode" next week
No one is going to explain that delicate hand holding King did? pretty homo desu
Start with walking long distances. Then powerwalking, jogging, and eventually running.
>show makes me want to run
>I run
>I keep running
>but there's no Haiji bf
I'd be happy to, but we're all around the world so it's hard to organise anything.
t. Aussie
Japs don't shake hands at the first meeting I think
>destroy me knees
what a meme, just walk/jogg/run at a pace that you feel comfortable
You know a show is great when it actually motivates you to change your life in a positive way. Good job, running bros.
That's how you assert dominance in Japan.
Is /fit/ full of guys like Haiji?
Cute.
Damn, I regret missing these threads, I've been watching the show weekly since it aired but I was avoiding reading here because I was afraid of spoilers.
Great anime anyway, probably gonna end up as one of my favorites. Loved how it wasn't about the sport itself but about the characters.
I'll miss it bros ;_;
I wonder why this anime flopped audience-wise, it didn't even manage to capture a dedicated audience like something like Rakugo, running bros fanbase is so damn small.
Yes, if Haiji was obese and 5x gayer.
Newtype should placed Haiji on the 1st place.
>that Horriblesubs comment section
for what purpose
Because it was well done with an excellant story and good pacing. It's something people with taste would enjoy. It's not for the teens and people with arrested development.
I decided to read them once too and I don't even know.
I even saw someone call this show SJW.
What?
Yeah, but so was Rakugo and a lot of other niche shows.
>it wasn't about the sport
lmao but they trained and are running now
wow this anima make me wana run
>niche and untranslated source material, so no real hype before its release
>looks like generic fujobait sports shounen shit on the surface
>released at the same time as meme garbage like Goblin Slayer, Bunny Girl, and Gridman
I only took interest because I run as a hobby, but I was really damn lucky to find this one after sifting through the trash from the last season.
>untranslated
Has no bearing on the japs.
I will cry with the final episode, I just know I will. The last episodes have been so moving, I know I'll get teary when I see Haiji finishing the race for everyone. I think I'll ask for a free day at work so I can properly handle these feelings. What a surprising ride this show has been.
Kakeru reaching a state of sheer transcendence got my little nuts quaking, dude
>tried checking out the web radio for this
>staff bought a treadmill for Kakeru's seiyuu to run on
>they made Kakeru's seiyuu run on it while Haiji's seiyuu asked him questions very slowly until he finished the questions
>it was on max setting towards the end
I just realized how bad this sounds so I'll clear up stuff:
>Kakeru's seiyuu has no stamina
>he agreed to run on the treadmill and even ran on it max before recording
Tosshi was funny as fuck though.
I love how King was willing to give up a job hunt entirely to do the hakone again. He has finally found something he is overwhelmingly passionate about and wants to do it regardless of anything. It seemed like before he was just trying to pass his days, but now he is actually living his days so to speak.
Also, he only ran for like 5-6 minutes so don't worry. Other than that:
>Haiji's seiyuu said tell your friends and spread the word about this anime
I'm sorry Tosshi, I can't do that.
is this the show with the homos that aren't gay?
>show suddenly gets scaringly relatable
wtf bros why does it hurt...
Any link? Kakeru always sounds so expressionless it should be fun
>King is literally me
wtf bros
Was I the only one who got scared in every "getting in the zone" sequences thinking it would go wrong instead?
same dude
like the air whirled around kakeru's heart I thought he was gonna get a heart attack
Enjoy. There's visuals of Kakeru's seiyuu running on the treadmill in later episodes it seems.
youtube.com
I had a small heart attack every time there was a close-up of his foot.
If they keep doing that during Haiji's section I'm not sure my heart is gonna make it.
Every single time it shows a foot hitting the ground, I expect the ankle to snap. It's fucking killing me. Trying to prepare myself emotionally for if Haiji's leg fails him.
Remember to get your 5km run done for the final episode! I did mine back in november, but might try to get a better time this weekend
The problem with spoilers usually happen with popular manga/LN adaptations, this one is from a book that I think is not even translated. So even if it had spoilers, people used the tag or you could just hide a post when someone asks for it. Now it is almost ending, but you probably should give a chance next time.
Yeah, but you know, I was really enjoying this anime a lot, and I didn't wanna take any chance whatsoever
Anyway I'm happy there are a number of people following this show, I've been trying to get some friends to watch it without success, but it definitely deserves more attention
Oh, people definitely posted untagged spoilers in these threads before.
I remember someone spoiled basically the entirety of Shindo's section the week before it happened.
Most of the times I saw it happening was a reply to an user asking what's going to happen next, so I said you could hide it. But yeah, there's still a chance that someone will spoil something, it's just easier to avoid in these threads, instead of what happens with manga with a huge following.
>I've been trying to get some friends to watch it without success, but it definitely deserves more attention
Christ, I know this feel. The only people I know who are watching it are people who picked it up from the start. Word of mouth isn't working and I really want it to.
I don't think there is always a logical explanation why some stuff doesn't catch on. Sometimes things just don't take off regardless of quality.
Rakugo had an interesting/original premise, this anime didn't, I honestly picked it up only because a friend said I'd definitely like it (and I'm really glad I did)
I believe if more people gave it a chance at the beginning there would be a sizeable audience (like Rakugo's), at least here on Yea Forums
I've seen a lot of people who usually watch stuff like this drop it because they don't like Haiji's manipulativeness. This is one of those shows where not liking one certain character can ruin the whole show for you.
Is it just me or was this episode's animation pretty bad compared to the usual?
Haiji's manipulativeness is possibly the most interesting thing about the show imo, it's a character trait you don't often see played straight, especially if portrayed in a fairly positive way.
tears rushing down your face
IT ALL
Haiji was my instant husbando from the very beginning, but it's pretty amusing how he ended up becoming most people's favourite despite them strongly disliking him in the first few episodes. He's a great character
>Is it just me or was this episode's animation pretty bad compared to the usual?
I think it's just you. The animation wasn't spectacular but it wasn't bad. Next ep I would assume will be a sakugafest even though I don't know who's working on it just because it's the grand finale. We'll see Kakeru surpassing his limits and Haiji finally going all out.
It's amazing when you think of how many times Haiji's whole project could have gone wrong and be over forever. From not being able to gather ten members in time, to Prince not ranking in, King finding a job or Shindo finally collapsing during the race. The fact that they made it this far is awesome, but I wonder what would have happened to Haiji had one single step of his plan failed. This race was everything he had in life.
I don't necessarily think Haiji would mind if the race ended up being a failure. I think he cares more about the Journey rather than the destination. It seemed by the whole end he was just happy to share his passion with a group of people that were very receptive to his passion. Haiji is just happy to be on a track team again.
I am going to guess the non popular sports subject.
