So fafner is now a sunrise mecha.

I completely forgot there was a sequel planned to be honest, so i forgot to watch it.

I watched the first 3(?) episodes raw when they came out, was disappointed by the horrible CG in that asteroid field scene and put off watching it until it's complete

Yep, probably has to do with the new movies becoming a full on series too.
Nothing like sunrise's totally not gay mecha series, really.

Didn't like the asspull end, pretty well directed though

First season is amazing.

I thought the first season was good. Never watched the second season though.

I was put off by the reveal towards the end of the first season where we found out that the humans attacked the aliens first. Given the setting, it's an incredible stupid plot point which made no sense, undermined the central conflict and made me uninterested in further developments.

I loved the original 3 seasons, the movies, even the live action movie was awesome.

Didn't like 2199 very much. It kept with the show over al and was faithful, but I felt they ruined the characters personalities. they made Kodie and Yuki generic tropes. I also didn't like the addition of multiple female character that offered nothing to the series but fan service. I like fan service like anyone else but it really didn't sit well with me in SBY but that's probably just bias because I love the original.

Never read the comics but I probably should.

Honestly I highly recommend the live action, it blends aspects of both season 1 and 2 and did a good job in my opinion. It was different but holy shit the music and scope was magical. Also Steven Tyler did music for it.

They should have gotten a yamato uniform for the blue loli that appears in 2202 and basically hid her in the background of every episode, making people look for her.

Because it was wade in 1972 and Japan needed feel good self identity.

Also if you watch the show you will find the Yamao often loses it's engagements, they only survive due to their ability to escape or fuck up the enemy at the last moment but they get their asses kicked basically every time they get into a fight.
