I'd set aside like $500 for a couple of decent bookshelves and enough cardboard boxes to be ready to move them around if I needed to move somewhere. Enough (right now it appears to be $600-$700 range) for an e-ink device that has a 10 inch screen, for ebooks. Then I guess I'd spend the rest on artist monographs, and to build a good library of philosophy, and some good language textbooks.
