The difference between empire and colonization is ill defined and virtually all old world established cultures (including Punjabi’s and Sikhs) have had their culture “colonized” by another. The idea of decolonisation is in itself a western idea, typically non-Western empires (and many Western ones too) would just collapse like Russia or China or Mongolia.
