I've always wondered was there ever a writer that was translated into one language and another writer, mistakenly thinking that the original was actually a native writer of that language, unknowingly translated them back into the original? Obviously this must be incredibly rare but sometimes I do hear things like French speakers being confused that Poe actually originally wrote in English because he was and is arguably better received in France
