Ulysses

The Harry Potter series. Surpasses the books themselves.

The Idiot by Kurosawa

Same as the best video game adaptation.

No Country for Old Men

This.
Book is a humdrum proto-Murakami, film is a visceral masterpiece.
Tarkovsky said it was one of his favorite films of all times for a reason.

Clockwork Orange

Fight Club.
This too.

Agree. Book was cringe af, movie is tolerable.

This
t. doesn't know Russian

The White and the Red
Woman on the Dunes
Solaris
Vertigo
Bridge on the River Kwai
Die Hard
Satantango

Stalker?

The duelists

The Maltese Falcon

This absolutely.

I know russian and understood all the terms in nadsat without any help. Truth is, the book just kinda sucks.

Instant brainlet litmus test, thanks for outing yourselves, lowclass rabble.

Treasure of the sierra madre

2001:A Space Odyssey

Movie > Book

Technically they developed concurrently and none really came first

Doctor Zhivago

not a movie but a tv series: good omens
everything they added was a fuck up though

>good omens
I couldn't suffer more than 20 minutes of that series.

The Godfather

War and Peace 1966

This

I like Gaiman (never read Pratchett or the book) and after two episodes I was angry at the show for wasting two hours of my life. Jesus christ I have no idea how something could be so bad. There were touches here and there that were neat, but it was so unfunny I just couldn't take it.

American Psycho, hands down.

harry potter

this but unironically

cringe

based

How is the movie better

Satantango, by far.

Attached: film poster [1994] satantango.jpg (1280x1885, 256K)

Is Satantango worth reading?

The Leopard

Ghost in the Shell

lotr

>The White and the Red
You mean The Black and the Red??

Amadeus

The newer True Grit movie is almost 1:1 with the book and is good to boot.

Lawrence of Arabia

The Shawshank Redemption

Apocalypse Now if you consider it an adaptation of Heart of Darkness

White red-haired character is played by Morgan Freeman. Apart of me wants to complain pre-woke blackwashing, but I would be lying to myself if I didn't admit that Freeman makes the character and that it was the right call.

This is the correct answer

Das Boot was a good film

It's incredibly good

>everything they added was a fuck up though
I'm just watching it. What did they add to the show?

Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep)

American Psycho

This

What is it with Yea Forums folks wanting to rank things as "best."

A million different people will have a different answer to that. It's not a competition in high school. There is no "best" at anything that can't be measured with a watch or a stick.

The sooner you realize that, the happier you'll be.

Pather Panchali

go back to t*itter you faggot asshole pleb

Movies are always better than their book analogue.

Attached: 1561492021563.jpg (255x253, 11K)

Not everyone on twitter are the ppl who bullied you in school, you know.

What about movies thst aren't even about the same thing like Starship Troopers?

All movies are like that. The mediums are so different it's not worth comparing.

yes bullying fucked me up and made me an incel faggot who fantasize about sucking cocks. passionately hate w*men and normalfaggots plebs like (You).

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is almost word to word. Read the book and watched the movie in the same day.

It's on okay flick in its own right, but it's hardly an adaptation of the movie beyond a few plotpoints

those are the best. the worst ones are the "faithful" ones because they're not even really movies, just complementary material for the book, elaborate moving illustrations. now you get to SEE harry potter wave a stick or whatever. a movie is a movie, a complete work in its own right, not some device for making your favorite book feel more "real".

Stalker

Eyes Wide Shut

The game was better than the movie and the book combined

What's with Yea Forums's interest in film? EVERY FUCKING DAY SAME FUCKING THREAD?

CAN SOME FUCKING user EXPLAIN IT TO ME?

ARE ALL OF US FUCKING COWARDS WHO THINK THEY'D BETTER WRITE A SCRIPT AND MAKE MILLIONS RATHER THAN DYING POOR WITH THEIR ORIGINALITY SUPPRESSED?

IS THAT IT?

SHAME ON YOU WORMS

FUCKING HYPOCRITES

FAILED FUCKING HUMAN GARBAGE

I'M LEAVING THIS SHITE FOREVER.

Rambo: First Blood

Nah, Yea Forums's just a shithole so people post film stuff here. Relax yourself, buddy.

The Saragossa Manuscript (1965)

>ctrl-f
>no the shining

If you ever want to have fun with Harry Potter fanatics, ardently claim that the movies are better than the books. Also, make sure to mess up details without letting on that you are toying with them. Enjoy.

Yes, this one is very well done
based
the real question is, is it worth watching? I thought of watching it a few times, but I don't know about watching a film that's over 7 hours long.
How do you even do it, in one go, or like three?
I mean, 4:30 is bearable but over 7 hours?
all three adaptations are good in their own way
t. read the book and saw the film but only played Call of Pripyat
welcome to 4chinz, if you're new, you will shortly learn that here, people come to say the same stuff every single day while at the same time hating on redditors for cyrclejerking the same stuff all the time.. I mean, I don't like reddit either, but this shit is another level of hypocrisy

The Lord of the Rings is up there for sure.

Attached: 1566096888742.jpg (640x756, 115K)

It's as good as an adaptation could get, really.
It's got a good dose of multiculturalism and feminism. They also completely butchered the ending.
They also didn't put the other four horsemen which is fucked up.

Lost Horizon the musical

Satantango is the best film ever made, so yeah it's definitely worth 7 hours.

The shining

The Martian, the book just has more problems and science, the only bad thing on the movie was the cringe iron man scene in the end that it's only a joke on the book

Based

Pleb, all three are great, but the game is certainly not the best

It's separated into three parts, so get something to eat or make some coffee in between. But I definitely recommend watching it in one setting and not doing it over multiple days

Inherent Vice gets very close

Chimes at Midnight

what about other Béla Tarr films? Is Sátántangó really his best?
t. haven't seen anything by him
