I've read no fiction. Fuck.

Haven't had time to read single book this year. Spent too much time shitposting on Yea Forums

I don’t use goodreads but I planned to read Les Mis, Anna Karenina, The Magic Mountain and Don Quixote this year. Haven’t started any of them oops.

Sorry to hear user. It’s never too late to start.

I've done 50/70 so it is going well

Time well spent, I say.

Wow we have an overachiever in da house.

Some people do more with their lives than just read

Goal: 50
Reality: 13
Bad year bros

That would be everybody, actually. Still too little.

It's honestly disgusting how everyone here seems elitist, but then they always expose themselves as barely literate whenever a thread like this comes up.
If it is a challenge for you to read 52 books a year, including books that you should have read in middle school, then sincerely, go fuck yourself.

So so.

>everyone here is an elitist
>let me be elitist to prove their elitist wrong

>asking for a so-called reader to actually read is somehow elitist
One thing’s for sure : you are a dilettante.

The same post has been made for years. In todays shitty environment where so many people just sit and look at their phones you have to set goals.

This year I'm climging 20 4000 foot + mountains, hiking at least 50 miles a month, reading 50 books, and taking 20 free courses

19 books is reading for a few minutes every night before bed you intellectual midget.

>spends 4 hours in front of netflix
>cant read for 5 minutes before bed

If you think what I wrote is elitist, then I hate you to the core.

encouraging 1-200 pages a week reading on a reading board is elitist

I never set a challenge, but according to GR I've read 22 books so far.

Pseuds, the lot of you

Only started to delve into literature this past year. I used to read YA garbage as a kid; I wish I'd never stopped, but vidya and depression exerted autocracy over my whole adolescence. Could've gotten on to more solid books posthaste, as opposed to taking until I turned nineteen... but what can you do? At least the scales still fell relatively early-on.

I'm at 36 books and should be at 37 tomorrow.

It was exciting andinteresting, but you really have to watch the movie alongside it, and the movie isnt available anywhere in english. It almost felt like an accompanying pamphlet.

Good chap here

I don't see the point of judging your reading my quantity. Reading isn't intrinsically good, regardless of whatever your elementary school teacher told you.

>Check reviews for Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
>One of the top reviews is some chick's summary of the plot, punctuated with Pokemon and Simpsons gifs, and ending with
>>I loved the world building in this book. I found it amusing that it's set in 2021, six years from now, and our technology is no where near what people in the 1960s imagined it might be. The characters were interesting but the only that I felt any real sympathy for was J.R. Izidore [sic]. He just wanted a goddamn legitimate friend!
Great review.

So if I read 10,000 YA novels I've done something good for myself?

if the alternative is literally doing nothing then yes

Doing something is not necessarily better than doing nothing

>3125 books behind schedule
not gonna make it lads

reading anything is better than reading nothing

Lol deluded faggot

At the mountains of madness

Wrong. Reading bad books is worse than reading nothing.

killing it

I started keeping track only a few years ago. It's really pushed me to read a lot more. I usually set a goal for 20 books a year; doable no matter length or complexity. Then, after that I just pick up fun stuff. Life has been a little shaky and I work full time, but still manage to read quite a bit. I'm no book eating genius youth in an ivory tower, either.
I'm currently on my 20th book; expected to be further along, but it's not a contest. Plenty of people have contributed to society without reading anything, and I'm sure there are big brained dolts who've read the entire western canon and just mooch off their parents while condescending everyone for not being more like them.
This year, I think I went mostly for tomes in order to skew my perception of "how much can I read today". So, instead of "man, I got like 300 pgs. left" it's "oh, shit. ONLY 300 pgs. to go!"
Anyway, as a side note: I think it's strange when people encourage others to read less as they get older. I'm in my late 20's and I feel like I just started getting 'good' at reading, if that makes sense. Why the fuck would I stop!? Plus, I'm a musician and a writer; where the fuck else am I to learn the craft?
The fuck am I doing here.

>How

15 books

That's based as fuck though. Books are for pseud nerds, whereas shitposting about books is patrician.

sean doesn't strike me as a "yikes" kinda guy

20/52
not good user l didn't read a single book for the first 6 months of 2019
