I don't know user. I do enjoy a lot of the prose in it. Something about technicolor beaches gets me in a rather listless mood. Is there any part of the book, be it a small quip, or a major passage, that you enjoyed in particular? Anything that's still sticking out for you?

Finnegans Wake.

>Anithing that's still sticking out for you?
we both know what is sticking out :^)

Was she right?

Walden

The Kingis quair.
Ancient book written in Middle-Scots.

this is very nice

The Opposing Shore

But very hard to find, for some reason it is harder to find the original text instead of a translation.

Generic choice but the first pages where he relates his history and talks about his childhood affair

Interesting take

is this a translation or the original?
d.lib.rochester.edu/teams/text/mooney-and-arn-kingis-quair-and-other-prison-poems-james-i-scotland-kingis-quair

that is what im reading

All the Names

I think that was an original but anglicized.
"And so aworth he takith his penance,"
I'm sure the "takith" never appeared in Scots and only in English. It should be takis.

oh ok. I will try to find the Scots version though maybe I wouldnt be able to read it, i dont know what Scots is exactly? I like this sort of english, and the english in Chaucer and stuff. Feels nice for some reason.

If it is "actual" Scots between 1/2 and 3/10 of the words shouldn't be understandable to an English speaker. And there are some Grammatical things, such as referring to yourself as "us" and not using plurals for units of measurement.
This archive.org/details/bannatynemanusc09laingoog has some alright scots in it. But the best and probably only Scots you will find will be written from mid 15th century until late 16th, after that it is rarely used out of personal notes

If you like that one, I suggest you read Umberto Eco's, 'Granita' in his collected stories, 'Misreadings'.

cringe

I'll check it out, thanks. Been meaning to read Eco for a while

I like this a lot though it is like decoding because of how different it is.

autism

reported to the FBI

Nabokov's later ADA

this user is living his best life, burning the candle at both ends

I prefer the prose style in Blood Meridian. It felt epic. Lolita has a very girly writing.

I remember being intrigued by a line about Lo's opalescent liver or pancreas or something like that. I don't completely recall, and I don't think I really understood it either.

How can a Russian write better English prose than someone that grew up with English as their native language?

Yes, and if you want to read books about kids getting fucked by adults there are plenty better out there than this highschool required entry level whatever. Fucking lewis had better prose christ sake.

Why do they sexualize an 11 year old in the cover?

How did they get away with that cover?

is she really 11? i would've guessed at least 14. what the hell is in the water?

This says more about you than the cover, senpai

requesting list of better books about said subject

the cover isn't really sexual at all. you're just a pedophile

unwarranted outrage about "sexualized" children is a sure way to out yourself as a pedo buddy. Learn to stay low.

how do you 'stay low'?

how tf do you guys think that's an actual cover, it's Evy from TMTV (child model).

>One day our patience will run dry

Well I certainly didn't expect to find this here, sasuga.

Don't act as if you haven't considered those being cumstains on the bench. Bad aim as well.

didn't even notice the bench

Did you make that fucking cover

can you do the sneed/chuck dialogic?

It's lyrical.
"Possibilities of sweetness on technicolor beaches had been trickling through my spine for some time before..."

>Ernest Hemingway was deeply impressed with Markham's writing, saying
she has written so well, and marvelously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a writer. I felt that I was simply a carpenter with words, picking up whatever was furnished on the job and nailing them together and sometimes making an okay pig pen. But [she] can write rings around all of us who consider ourselves as writers ... it really is a bloody wonderful book

Am I a pedophile if I got a hard-on looking at that cover? To my defense, I look very young, so I think that if me and her were walking down the street hand in hand people wouldn't give us weird looks

okay nvm, she actually looks very young, so people would definitely give us weird looks

doubt it. he was probably just a beta orbitor

nah, i got hard, too. her face looks like she's 19 and she has tits, its her small frame that makes it weird.

yea, I think the line for pedophilia goes in puberty. If the sexual object's puberty has started, it's no longer pedophilia

This image makes me uncomfortable.

Ulysses and A Portrait of the Artist As A Young Man

also that girl is extraordinarily beautiful, objectively, and the fact that you're looking at an image of her and not her actual being means you don't see the immaterial aspects of her that would classify her as a child in your mind, and not a chick you wanna fuck. there's also the fact that this is a hand-picked photo of her in a sexually provocative pose and sexually provocative clothing. in short, she would look way younger and way less sexy irl. i would bet money that a jewish photographer took this photo.

>i would bet money that a jewish photographer took this photo.
nice touch

I agree. the birdshit on the bench is reminiscent of cum. (((gaslighting)))

thats not gaslighting, its just subliminal messaging

>NOOOO! THE JEWS ARE MAKING ME INTO A PEDOPHILE. I'M NOT THE ONE WITH THE PROBLEM! I'M A VICTIM OF SOCIAL CIRCUMSTANCE!

>Makeup
>Really short dress showing legs.
>Small titties.

Not a pedophilic image, sonny.

Stick your head in the oven already polcuck

fuck off shlomo

Blood Meridian

i'm starting to get sick of being right all the time. you think i want the world to be like this?

look at this girl's face. i swear to God i'm not going to let this go on. these people are going to die.

notice how the thread dies right when the eternal jew gets exposed.

what is this? im not clicking on this

its "teen modeling." technically its not porn because there isn't any genitalia, but its young girls - children, in skimpy costumes and shit and you can see death in their eyes.

It's crime they didn't include her toes on the cover but that would have been just lewd.

Ulysses
In Search of Lost Time
Madame Bovary
Anna Keranina
Collected Stories of Chekhov

All those easily. I’d also add The Scarlet Letter, Moby Dick, and The Sound and the Fury by I’m an Amerifag obviously.

>Keranina
okay...

stfu bitchboy dont act like you arent a mobileposter too

>such as referring to yourself as "us" and not using plurals for units of measurement.
We do that in my dialect of English but only in the context of asking something of someone.

Yes

Attached: better-prose.jpg (220x307, 18K)

The worst of it is in Japan and East Asia at large. Impoverished young models imported from Eastern Europe/Russia/Siberia made to do what is essentially a very light form of softcore porn under the guise of being teen models. Not limited to these imports either, though it's extremely easy to make these models do it as they basically have no say and don't realise what they're getting into it, or realise it and don't care because they're poor (rather their families are poor).

Why is she barefoot? Does she not realise that's basically as bad as going topless when your feet look like that?!?!

Anyone who has read anything non-fiction from Nabokov knows that this is just absolutely wrong.

It's no longer pedophilia but ephebophilia

Is ephebophilia the most patrician sexual orientation?

i get really bumped out when i see a cute young girl because i know in 5 years time she'll be completely debauched only to have her sences come back to her 10 years later when she's old and used up, realising all that affection was purely objectification and nothing else

Ulysses

From nab himself
"Oh, yes, let people compare me to Joyce by all means, but my English is pat ball to Joyce’s champion game."

Sorry I'm too dumb to read this book.
