He does have a kind of child indoctrination but he also has the intelligence to analyse and share insights into stalinist ideology. He describes and acknowledges the worst stalinist terror and failings (unlike pepe hitler adoring posters for example) but he fails to come up with something for the future, he repeats 'bureaucratic socialism' which basically is a new communist totalitarian regime.
He's fully cognizant of the USSR horror but his childhood era indoctrination of the leader - he was 5years old when Stalin died - will forever haunt him.
