>Can You Be ‘Too Retarded’ To Use Memes? Our Expert Opinion: Yes

What's YA?

Young Adult fiction. Twilight, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, etc. It’s an enormous publishing category, of course dominated by SJW women and the soibois who facilitate them.

Whenever the lit best of lists come out, even reddit talks about how much better this board is, even though they're too intimidated to post here lmao

I see
everyone itt who knew beforehand what that meant is reddit and should leave

> NO ONE CAN GROW IN THE_CURRENT_YEAR! I REPEAT: NO ONE CAN GROW!

Reddit: intimidated. Next target to intimidate: ten year olds.

Are you a faggot?
Our expert opinion: Yes

I just wonder why you would want to?

So, everyone ITT who’s smarter and/or better informed than you should go? What are you going to do when you’re the only one left?

you are never too old, just not well read enough. booktube is full of people who went crazy for ya when they were 13 and now look back at it and go "well this is garbage". more you read the more demanding you become, even if all you read are YA books.

books are much harder to consume compared to other media, except laserdiscs

Good little sheep. Keep reading your children's books. Don't challenge your brain. Don't question the media. Remain sedate and obedient.

And keep buying P&V to ensure you won't get anything from the classics.

Maybe next time OP can tae the dick out of his mouth and provide a link. That way the thread isn’t retarded and we can attempt to agree with or refute the author’s reasoning.

I think a large part of the average /lit user’s ego comes from being pretentious and faggoty. Perhaps they are mad they are not making as much money as people who learn valuable skills that contribute to society. Think of this: If you read a YA book as a YA and enjoyed it, would you chose to erase all memories of said book once you aged into adulthood? I guess what I’m trying to say is, if an adult never read YA books as a YA, then why wouldn’t they want to round the bases if the book was impactful? I argue that there are even children’s books that are good to have read, but as a non-faggot adult, you will have the opportunity to read them at your child’s bedtime. YA books, not so much. To say that YA books should not be read by adults is like saying one should never read YA novels to begin with.

Somebody is bound to say “hurr-durr you should be reading something more meaningful!”. I would refute that by saying that meaning is subjective. If somebody wants to be a well rounded novelist, then it would be in that person’s interest to have read impactful YA novels. If somebody wants to be a anal-gaping faggot, then that person might not want to read YA books but instead should read books they don’t really enjoy in order to impress pretentious /lit cunts.

Everyone I've seen who reads excessive amount of YA are functionally braindead. You would have to be in order to consume the same poorly written shit over and over again. In conversation they remind of Redditors in general, meaning they're aggressively stupid and can't deal with ideas and challenges so they don't have anything interesting to say.

What if I read "for fun"?

>If somebody wants to be a well rounded novelist, then it would be in that person’s interest to have read impactful YA novels.
To be a successful money grubbing novelist, you must have zero sense of artistic integrity, consume and research YA and deconstruct them to their basic elements to figure out what makes them tick. Then, write your YA novel with these packaged, though slightly rearranged elements, and throw your newly written novel on top of the YA garbage heap and hope enough people notice it. Repeat each year, until you've sold 1 million copies and get a movie deal.

Seems like a shitty definition of "Young" in Young Adult if it has no relation to age, eh?

What does YA stand for?

but oh man, when you prepare a well cooked laserdisc it’s worth it

what's p&v?

Get a job

Okay, what about just being well-read in general? There are classic YA books (1984, Brave New World, Lord of the Flies, etc) that are worth reading if you want to be well-rounded.

I'm not really addressing reddit faggots who only consume gimmicky, disposable novels. I think we are onboard about them.

>meaning is subjective
Why bother reading then if you could just as well derive meaning from cloud shapes and the buzz of a fly

Some people are just kind of retarded. We can't really expect them to read and comprehend complex things. Since they are retarded, it comes as no surprise that they might find joy from reading retarded books. Is this reason for them to not read at all? Besides, if everyone was reading the same books as your average /lit user, then /lit users would not get to feel pretentious and thus their egos would be damaged.

There are way better critiques of society than the books you've listed. Those books only exist so that dumb morons can quiz other dumb morons over pop culture references, and fellatiate each other when they do get those references.

Have sex.

Well, meaning is subjective. So if you are reading for fun, that is your meaning. Some people on this board have fun by masturbating to their girlfriends having bestiality sex with blacks. Why project onto people who have fun reading dumb books for fun?

Get a life

t. Evola shitter

If your goal is to only find ways to critique society, then sure. It is not news that there are better books for this. If your goal is to enjoy reading a novel, increase your ability to understand cultural references, all while developing an interest in critiquing society, then these books are great for those purposes.

The article is bullshit and justifies their claim by quoting statistics that only draws from 20% of users, because that's the number of people who specified their age on their profile.

They also said "little kids who read above their age are applauded, why can't adults read kids books?" as if a dog who potty trained itself and a grown man wearing diapers are equivalent achievements.

Doesn't mean I think YA is worthless, its just light fiction. It's just a dumb article.

None of those are YA books.

>and fellatiate each other

I have't read much YA but you would need a low mental age to read it.

What?

Biological age means nothing. Enjoying YA means you are childminded and consumerist.

bend over

This board shits on YA all the time, its not our fault you're new

Pevear and Vokholonsky, translators of Russian literature
If you're also then you really need to lurk moar

You know what, if somebody genuinely enjoys both Divergent and Ulysses, whatever. I don't know why they would, but they clearly also read non-pleb books, and if they can take the YA in context and not seriously think it holds up to Homer or Dante then whatever. This is very rare though, and what's much more likely if someone likes YA is that they ONLY read YA, in which case they're retards.
Also, YA is a marketing term more than anything. There are children's books worth reading as an adult, like Alice in Wonderland, but I never see those counted as YA. Lord of the Flies, Catcher in the Rye, etc could in theory be called YA in a sense because everyone reads them when they're 14, but again they aren't usually. If Catcher is YA, then YA can be fine, but everybody knows that YA usually means shit like The Hunger Games.

Have sex

It only seems that way to you because you've only read pedestrian/lit/core
