The last TV show worth watching was the Sopranos and that ended more than a decade ago. Documentaries can be very good, so i watch some on my computer once in a while after pirating. Reading is better than the shit you'll find surfing channels nowadays.

Obviously people are talking about fiction. You can't learn anything from reading fiction that couldn't be learned from watching a TV show. Also you can watch the news and documentaries to get objective facts

There's many more sources suggesting reading is beneficial, but I don't have the time to spoonfeed you children.
By the way, documentaries are often dumbed down and dramatized to appeal to the lowest common denominator of people. Books are undoubtably a better source of information and I don't know how anybody could deny that.

I can completely agree with this except in one regard. Only your non-verbal communication skills will increase by reading, in fact if simply read a lot but never verbally discuss the material you have read your verbal communication skills will most definitely decrease. Yes, you will have a bigger vocabulary and your prose will get better, but you will have difficulties communicating verbally.
