Kids are naturally influenced by the adults in their life. They spend a lot of time in school and the schools are predominantly run by leftists. Based on those threads where everybody shares their age, this place is filled with 19 year old kids so they're still going through school. In my experience the mid to late 20's is when people start coming into their own and changing their minds on some crucial issues.

There is a sizable portion of Yea Forums who are still into Chicago School economists like Thomas Sowell, but it's always been clear to me they're fledgling readers, possibly from /pol/, trying to justify the prejudices they formed before they began reading. I picked up their bible, Basic Economics, and found a deeply flawed book. It's no wonder they're so confused.

It depends on the country, in Latin America, while there is a left-wing intelligentsia, overall more educated people vote on right-wing parties while the voting base of the left are uneducated labourers and peasants. Then, there is Japan, a smart, high IQ country ruled by a right-wing oligarchy.

People who vote left seem to use emotional reasoning in lieu of rationality or logic. Why do you think the left is supported by so many women, blacks, and Mexicans? Also, young people tend to gravitate towards the left. As they grow wise and wrest better control over their hormone based emotions, they move towards the right.

It's becoming ever more apparent to even a brainlet like me that capitalism is unstable and if not stopped will lead to human extinction. It was around late last year that it really became an eye opener for me, and I imagine for a lot of other people. It's not even a matter of "well it's the best we have" or whatever anymore, it's either capitalism or life.

I wouldn't disagree with that. In fact, if I lived outside of the US I would probably support a right wing party. But the issue is that while the average right winger here might support more traditional modes of living, the politicians they support are all corporatists funneling money out of the hands of their constituents, creating a welfare state for the rich. The only politicians in the US who care about consumer rights and sustainable living (i.e., tradition) are leftists. Unfortunately most people are just focused on trivial social issues, enabling the right to get away with murder.
