Heidegger’s philosophy is a way for the PHILOSOPHER (who’s already ealing with the more complicated topics) to also consider the role of the mundane, to connect the more complicated stuff (such as Aesthetics, Epistemology, Metaphysics) to Being (what you call mundane). An alternative to Heidegger’s onto-ontology would be something like psychoanalysis.

The reason he uses day to day is twofold: 1, it is the most direct way to understsnd what defines being, because that is how we encounter it everyday. 2, the state of exception is more accentuated, the Kierkegardian "decision"

Heidegger just uses the Kant's critique to Descartes "tautology" "Cogito ergo sum" and takes it to extremes. Kant assume that being is not a a predicate, nor the subject, its being there in the time (setzung). He just didnt realize it and didnt use it on the transcendental subject description. We can see that in the use of Dasein even in Kant's KPR, on the chapter where he speaks about the ontological proof of god by Descartes; the name of the chapter is :"(...)des Dasein Gottes" or something like that.

Division 1 of Being and Time is really good, though, particularly the 4th chapter on Moods. Chapter 3, "The Worldhood of the World," is also essential. Otherwise, yeah, he's a fascist, and not even in the trendy way people use it today. The guy is Nazi to the core. So, you should probably read Division II of Being and Time (on the fatedness of peoples) and Introduction to Metaphysics, too.
