Some people are funny some aren't. It appears you are the latter.

And it appears you are the former

Have your characters read out jokes from one of those joke books.

The simplest way is establishing a pattern the reader can recognize and relate to and then giving it an unexpected twist at the end, a punchline.

The pattern must be familiar and easy to understand - "a child is reaching for a doorbell, but cannot ring it. the subject of the joke comes to his aid, picks him up and helps him ring the bell."

now to upset the pattern - "the child says: thank you, mister! now let's run!"

and I suppose for it to not be cringey, it has to be relatable, not niche meme humor that only 4chinners would understand.

Post some of your comedic writing first. Also I believe the best way to add humor is to have a good understanding of your characters and revolve comedic situations on what they would do.

The best way is a witty display of your intelligence. That, and making fun of stupid things. Not people, but ideas

Write about jerking off and farting and shitting and pissing

>frogposter
>intelligence

Don't try to be clever. If you have something clever to write, write it. Otherwise, keep the humor low brow.

If you think 'le clown saying the /pol/ so ebin' thing is funny you're already lost mate. Shitty memes aren't humorous in the real world.

Make a connection between two subjects (through associations) that one wouldn't expect.

Just have creative descriptions

steal jokes dumbass

Don’t try to force jokes or punchlines into it. The texts I find to be the funniest are just the ones written with an overall ironic or surreal undertone. It’s not specific bits, it’s the ensemble.

or a schlemihl smacking an octopus in the head with a bottle

Write about the paradoxical nature of the transgender person.

write about yourself

Look at this fag.
>Muh green frog from /pol/
He clearly used the clown world pepe because humor is associated with Clowns retard

The George Carlin theory of comedy states that if you depict a regular scenario with just *one* thing out of proportion, humour is created. The example I remember is this:
>a crime occurs
>a woman is raped
>the woman is 80 yrs old
All of a sudden, an incidence of rape becomes kind of funny. Translate this into your plot and your characters: there are "normal" people doing normal things for normal reasons...but one thing is out of proportion. And be creative about how you describe this aspect of the story.

Read George Saunders and you’ll get the idea.

>george Carlin
>EVERYBODY IS STUPID BUT US RIGHT GUISE? We’RE MAD ABOUT IT

Yikes, I’d avoid him

god shut the fuck up you bitter little faggot, you should have your fucking legs broken

t. rare pepe collector

I hope your grandmother gets raped and frogposters make a webm of it. We'll see how funny that is.

>doesn't acknowledge the point of the post
>immaturely gets hung-up on a name of a dead comedian without even addressing the content
Absolute pseudery.

>things are supposed to be funny to all people, at all times, in all circumstances
>"Knock knock."
>"I live in a tent so your joke is fucking horrible. Fuck you for degrading me"
THE ABSOLUTE PSEUDERY OF THIS FAG

put a laugh track in so people know when to laugh.

>I hope your grandmother gets raped and frogposters make a webm of it.
based 2019 internet

Turn up the cringe until it becomes funny.

the writer who tries to appeal to his reader, he will never make it.

Whatever you do, please please assume your reader gets the joke from the get go and make no effort whatsoever of explaining it. You may subtly hint that it was in fact a joke but that's the maximum you're allowed.
t. person who feels the explanation is distracting and reminds me that I am in fact reading a story.

Have you ever read Sanderson? That's what happens if you force the humor. Don't force it. Let it come to you naturally.

I thought this fetish was invented in Japan

>cites a Le Angry rant comedian
>calls others pseudo

Carlin’s whole schtick was getting idiots to feel smart and here you are, an idiot, feeling smart. Pottery

>old age Carlin = prime Carlin
The funniest part is that your still upset that a bitter old fuck said God isn't real
