would be nice to have a max 240 characters description of every book listed.
Nathan Cox
why is Rimbaud here? wouldn't exactly say it's dark
Noah Thomas
That would be a very big effort to implement that, and I'd have to gather information from every book, and I think that people can also just look on Wikipedia to see what's it about. I know that it would be a big help to people, but it's difficult to do because I've only read a small number of books on this chart, so I can't say much about the writing style or the feeling of specific works. For now I would prefer not to do it; I've already put a really big amount of time and energy into this chart, and it's going to take me a long time to add descriptions.
Why do you think it's not dark/shouldn't be on the chart?

Bump!

Where the fuck is Thomas Ligotti? I know that this chart is excluding horror, but I would argue Ligotti has some work that's too disturbing to leave off of this chart; for instance, My Work Is Not Yet Done: Three Tales of Corporate Terror. MWINYD is about an office shooter who tortures his coworkers to death in really demented ways. It's too well-written and edgy to be left out.
I'm a bit torn with Ligotti. On one hand, a number of people have asked why he's not on this chart, but on the other, I'd rather not have him on the chart because he's straight horror and his work has already been featured in multiple horror charts. It would be strange and objectionable if I were to make an exception only for him but not to other horror works.

Bump to keep it alive

Just finished blood meridian yesterday. How can the judge be so based?
Levi Gutierrez
Have you read other works on the chart as well?
Liam Long
I agree that Rimbaud seems to be out of place, because dark or depressed poetry would imply adding a thousand other works
John Ramirez
What about Maldoror then? Even though it's prose poetry, it's still poetry. Should that be removed as well?
Thomas Diaz
I thought Perfume wasn't as dark or disturbing than some of the others in the list. More of a fun story
Thomas Lewis
Toss me a link and I will.
James Sullivan
The people who recommended the novel said that it is an iconic dark novel that's disturbing enough and is not featured in other charts. It also does not have to be as disturbing as some more intense works on this chart; the intensity of the works in the chart differ greatly. Which other works on the chart have you read, and what did you think of them?
Lincoln Johnson
American psycho. Starting pig island.
Juan Clark
Is Cows a good book or is it just edgelord garbage?
Jace Watson
As far as I've heard, it's close to bizarro but a lot better when it comes to quality.

Bump!

I don't really know, I haven't read it but at least it takes the appearance of a 'narrative'. I think it would make sense to discuss whether poetry is legit here
Levi Rogers
Okay fair. Only 4 in the chart - perhaps my opinion isn't as important.
Brayden Perez
I'd like to know which, and what your opinion on them are. I only read 4 on the chart as well; I used the opinions of about 100 anons here to create this chart because no one here has read all of them. Your opinion is as important to me as the other ones!
