I am the sun (son)

>i am the sun (son)
>and the air (heir)
>of a shyness that is criminally vulgar

are there any poems that use this technique where they use words to mean one thing at first, but then recontextualise them to mean another in the subsequent lines?

is there a term for this?

double entendre

isn't that where you do the double meaning with all it's implications at first, rather than revealing it later?
and isn't it necessarily bawdy as opposed to my example?

I wish that was a boy

It's not necessarily bawdy, though it often(usually?) is. I'm not sure about your 'revealed after' qualification though, maybe that is its own literary device.

yeah i am specifically interested in words that mean one thing and you read/hear them in that way but then a later line makes you realise they meant something else

Kurt Cobain does it all the time

>I am human and I need to be loved
>Just like everybody else does

examples?

i'm more interested in if this is a thing in literature though, though i could see how it can work better in song because of the ambiguity of spoken word rather than text

A lot of rappers, too, but in their case it's usually just a vulgar boast of some sort.
>There's too much at stake and to find someone this raw on a beat is rare

Finnegans Wake is like 100% that shit

Unironically my diary desu

this is not the thing in question

If you must write prose and poems
The words you use should be your own
Don't plagiarise or take "on loan"

Holy shit who's that

>They start acting BACKWARDS, so watch what I say next

>They SLIP UP
>As PUPILS
>Eat DESSERTS
>When they're STRESSED
>Because they LIVED
>With the DEVIL

>Hope you caught what I said.

you mean ->homophony

It's a fuck slut for domestic courtship.

>do you like penis a lotta? I mean pina coladas/ I’m sorry girl, it’s hard... to think!

How do they mean "son" and "air" only subsequently? It's not like beforehand he rattles off alot of nature metaphors. You just take them to have the new agey astrology aura because you're flighty.

...and "heir"*

>Wherever he laid his hat was his home
>And when he died, all he left us was a loan
