>1400 pages

okay uh where is the pagan stuff tho

Does he say anything no one else said

No he just happened to say it 100 years before Land, that cybernetic intelligence is invading us from outside the universe kek

like a deer, blind to truth by novelty's headlights.

deleuze, whitehead and heidegger basically plagiarized him

[x] doubt

ok maybe plagiarize is the wrong word, but he laid the fundamentals of their philosophies before them

Definitely, I agree, and I'm drunk enough to effort post about it if a nigga starts talking shit

shit

i dont think christians are much disturbed by a literal le wrong generation philosopher.

What do you want to know

Wow, an ad hom/strawman

/thread

>m-muh strawman

Yep

How does he frame the condition of da sein and does he incorporate no self

What is his conception of abyss/hell/spirit of the depths/id and does he follow a production reduction expression/transcendent-function kind of synthesizing

How hard is he to read

Is he all about aesthetic poetic? or moral necessities? or hermeneutics? or meta theory?

Was he into Russians and the Kultur movement in Germany

Is he likenable to Jung or Bergson/was influenced he think of Nietszche?

is he //meta-cognitive//?

Is he religious?

I admit my knowledge of him is superficial, but I'll try

1. frames dasein/inauthenticity as the distinction between actual time and world of things, very Heideggerian in this regard, though not so austere, more Nietzsche than gloom n' doom black forest post-metaphysics. no self is the absence of discursive thinking, body and soul in total congruence without the interference of spirit as reflexion

2. hell as absolute inertia. the soul, or vital center, stifled by ratiocination. Klages thinks consciousness is hostile to the body. Its dangerous to consciously focus on your heartbeat etc. I forget what he says about an afterlife but I imagine his hell looks like a kind of anti-vitalist sheol

3. Standard. Straightforward. Just come from a background of study.

4. Aesthetic poesis AS moral necessity. And hermeneutics. The standard "man is alienated from = x by the mechanism that he is" talk, but delivered very compellingly

5. Not sure, I believe he was very involved in the neo-romantic circles of his day, same vein as Robert graves and his mother goddess worship imo, but perhaps a bit more refined

6. Yes, shares Nietzsche's disdain for priests and high moralisms. Not sure about Bergson. Definitely a lot like Jung.

7. He would say cognition is infra-cognition. only presence or meditative awareness or actual time etc. qualifies as meta-cognition. thoroughly anti-kantian in this sense imo: essences are perceivable

8. oh yes

Sweden just banned your runes Ubermenschen. How do you feel?

Leave Ludwig to me.

Huh
>consciousness is hostile to the body
That is something I'm stuck on personally, where the refitted ego fits in with nature/world scheme. Idk how to be more awake

Does he do anything with libido theories/sexuality/sexual energy

Leave anything to Derrida, even trips.

I believe he does, I'm pretty sure he influenced reich. spirit is the rejection of the body which is the rejection of the sexuality etc.

I see the Abrahamic faiths are still hard at work in their efforts to kill the Norse gods.

Been reading Klages for a bit, new to hearing of Land. Where does he mention this sort of intelligence?

bump

Wherever he talks about spirit

My problem with Klages is that his attack on "geist" is essentially a utopian project towards the creation of a "new man."

Take out all the wild horseshit about intelligence being an "invader from outside" and what you have is a man who, nobly angered and saddened by the terrible world around him, tried to strike at what he saw as the deepest possible root of the problem. But the problem is not one of man's qualities (in this case "geist") but man himself, as all great philosophers have always known. You cannot remold and reshape him according to the whims of your philosophy, no matter how good a system of justification you craft behind it.

To anyone interested in ecology his essay Man and the Earth is crucial reading. It lays the philosophical foundations for "deep ecology" long before that term was even a thing, and it posits a way of living attached to the fundamental conviction that the universe is a "communion of subjects, not a collection of objects" (that's not Klages btw but I found no better way to say it). Even here he goes into the infertile terrain of opposing intelligence, but ecologists after him like Arne Naess have shown how a community of men without "geist" could never possibly establish a truly "deeply ecological" life.

>but ecologists after him like Arne Naess have shown how a community of men without "geist" could never possibly establish a truly "deeply ecological" life.

how?

Noone gives a shit about woman vagina exercises

The very existence of a collective decision as immense as "we are going to organise our activities as a community on a wide temporal scale in order that they meet the goal of being more ecologically attuned (restrained development, etc.)" and then having a community capable of following through with thoroughly enough and through a long enough time requires geist.

Believing that "if only" humans could leave behind geist and leave totally attuned to the seele (sorry, I don't know how these have been translated into English) then we would lead ecologically (and otherwise) perfectly is dangerously close to "noble savage" utopianism.

Leave the sum total of philosophy and metaphysics to me.

>leave klages to me, the bastard disciple of the man who cribbed his best shit dude parrhesia lmao

>Behind the scenes, certain forces are controlling mankind, and it is only by examining these forces that we can understand a critical fact: before the progressive research of modern times could be undertaken, the intellectuals had to be conditioned to adopt a philosophical theory upon which would be founded a required practice: we call that practice capitalism.

Capitalism being merely the final manifestation of this daemon of intelligence.

We can only be free once we exorcise this relentless Geist from ourselves.

Wheres the image and text from

The following is from Language as the Source of Psychology:
>insofar, however, as the bodily or the soul-related pole of vitality has determined the goal of the journey, the helmsman of the vehicle stands in the service of life, entrusted with the task of hindering, if he can, every deviation from the direction towards goals he has not chosen and which, if it were left up to him, he would avoid

So perhaps it's possible to set goals in strict accordance with inner vitality and let the Geist steer us clear from harm

Thanks, that was easy

It's from Klages' Man and Earth. Interested in what is meant by non-peer civilizations, too.

with an ax to his back and an ax to his guts

torture him. i'm afraid i'll have to find a other story to make that whole thing even

trivial. to the good people of paxis, this may be the reason the guy is still alive. or it might be one of many reasons why. but i'll let the readers decide.

or maybe this is just just a guy trying to be a martyr
