Please help us settle a debate:
Is the "o" in knoll and gnome, pronounced the same?
Please help us settle a debate:
NO; THE «O» IN «KNOLL» IS SHORT; THE «O» IN «GNOME» IS LONG.
Knoll has a higher inflection while gnome is lower.
Thanks, please elaborate, my GF doesn't seem to get that.
gno
knoell
If it helps, she is Hispanic. I'm trying to teach her proper English and grammar. But sometimes she is stubborn.
SHORT «O» IS PRONOUNCED: «OH», LIKE GREEK OMIKRON; LONG «O» IS PRONOUNCED: «OU», LIKE GREEK OMEGA.
I think I gets it, just like "faggot" pronunciation is Greek?
Just leave her be. Trying to teach her is futile. I'm guessing she's in her 20's and barely learning English? She'll always have an accent. Just accept it. Trying to teach her proper pronunciation will get you nowhere.
Even though English only has 6 vowels for spelling, it has 11 monophthongs and 5 diphthongs.
Look up the pronunciation by its IPA and see if it is different.
I don't think length of the sound is as important as whether it changes, and there are 4 O sounds in English.
Futile? I guess you might give up on people but she is willing to learn. You sound jaded.
Spanish only has 5 vowel sounds with no exceptions for double vowel words. You simply pronounce both vowels in order. Puedo is PU A DO
lol just dick her down
Youre a fucking retard
yes both are pronounced with oʊ or ō
>Puedo is PU A DO
>PU A DO
>A
...
¿Estas seguro que hablas Español?
Pue Do
No pronounced 'A'
Yes A. Just say the letter.
Let's try this: Poo Eh Dough. Better? E in Spanish is pronounced like a hard A in English.
You should really learn a second language.
You should really learn Spanish.
If you live in the Americas and don't speak Spanish, you are considered retarded.
Agreed
No.
Even within your own example; Eh =/= Ah.
>R Æ V S S Q A N D V S
what the fuck is a R Æ V S S Q A N D V S ? A fag?
R Æ V S S Q A N D V S R Æ V S S Q A N D V S R Æ V S S Q A N D V S R Æ V S S Q A N D V S R Æ V S S Q A N D V S R Æ V S S Q A N D V S R Æ V S S Q A N D V S R Æ V S S Q A N D V S
Si, Hablo. Peor.
Para ensenllarse Gringo a Español hay que decirles pronunciar cada letero. Si no, vayan a usarla a lo que en Engles.
Wow what a retarded language
>Anglophonics
Yikes.
No yourself. Say the letter A in English. Not AHHH like "open wide and say ahhh," the A as in "EH? What did you say, sonny?" That's the sound of the letter E in Spanish.
They don't have an AHHHH sound.
"vayan a usarla a lo que es Engles" que carajo quiere decir eso? que clase de imbecil.. eres un cabron, una mula.. no se quien te dio a luz pero que pena me da por ella :(
"Amor" is pronounced: Ah + more
Sounds like "ahh" to me.
