But my echo chamber said that western civilization is dead and everything good is dead, and reading and coming up with my own conclusions is too hard.

It's not shit at all. Marx, analytics, continentals, and the enlightenment are alright. If you disagree it's because you're a pseud who thinks being wrong makes your philosophy worthless or some brainlet take like that.

Philosophy used to create useful thinking in the sciences, now it does the opposite of that. It's not useless but it is now no longer indispensable.

I agree. It established a logical foundation that aids in making counter-intuitive observations and delineated the boundaries of knowledge.

That work is largely done though, and instead of transitioning into a discipline that focuses on crafting policy from scientific insight, it seems that philosophy has become a refuge for anti-empiricists/pseuds to engage in circlejerks of pointlessly extreme skepticism and mysticism.

But nowadays we have Jordan Peterson, Zizek, Pentti Linkola, Mencius Moldbug and Nick Land. Philosophy has never been more alive.
