>Atman is Brahman
Just what in the hell does this mean?
Atman is Brahman
Other urls found in this thread:
>atman is brahman
Its clear to me.
It's bullshit.
The soul is an illusion
A drop in the ocean
God is an infinite expansion of infinite existence-awareness-bliss.
God is the totality of reality. God is his own dimension...
But the soul can realize the divine ground of its being.
In the mystical state, the awareness of the soul becomes the awareness of God, so that one can say "I am God!"
Man, "you are your brain" is an illusion.
and?
if God/Absolute/Brahman is just the Soul/Consciousness/Self, why do we call it different names?
Where's the fun with no suprise and mystery? Life isn't serious.
this just convolutes it even further. Just explain to me in plain language what brahman and atman means, how they are equal and how to realize this.
I'm more of a perennial philosopher than a Hindu, but I will try to share my comprehension.
God is in a state of homogenized stasis. He is immanent in creation yet is completely nescient of it.
Atman is a subjective replication of the Godhead in the soul. When you have gnosis you are really seeing God(and that you are God), but the actual God Himself can't see you.
Rather poignant when you think of it, at least to me.
Everything that is is manifestation of Brahman

This. If you have to assert 'I am that' you are already caught by ego and duality.
Ohh wow REFUTED
>I'm more of a perennial philosopher
No you aren’t, you’re at best a person interested in perennial philosophy. You don’t get to call yourself a philosopher simply by reading philosophical subject matter.
So God is really just pure awareness? Is that what I should get out of it?
No I assure you, I am. I have my own take on metaphysics.
I like to think I have picked up where Aldous Huxley left off.
I can describe the physical structure of God, why there is a material universe, the problem of evil, what our purpose is, how to achieve it and what our final end is.
Yeah.
wrong
no you aren't you stupid brainlet, you just spam literature memes on an anime board. Stop overestimating your intellectual abilities, you have the brain of an ostrich.
It means it is a part of the larger whole.
The part and the complete are the same
It's like the atman is the number 1 whereas all numbers are the Brahman.
basically everything is you and you're still a faggot lmao
and bliss, if you try to isolate it as awareness alone without bliss it's incorrect
>Thinks illusions are self-apprehending
Why?
Shared identity does not necessarily mean coincidence.
Atman is a drop in the ocean, the ocean is Brahman.
Everything in this universe (and all the inifinite others) is Brahman, and so we can deduce that you are too, including your atman.
Brahman can be split into two, impersonal Brahman and personal Brahman (paramatma).
Paramatma is within all living entities, everything else is impersonal Brahman.
You are.
Pantheism doesn't make any sense, how can you explain a perfect being (god) as being fooled by ignorance and illusion (the human condition)? Panentheism makes much more sense.
because when experienced as Itself the awareness in question is bliss
You have piqued my interest, could you further elaborate on this?
Pandeism too. God becomes the universe, and then rebecomes God in an infinite cycle of self discovery and self forgetting
>Pantheism doesn't make any sense,
advaita isn't pantheism
>how can you explain a perfect being (god) as being fooled by ignorance and illusion (the human condition)?
God isn't considered to be fooled by anything, illusion is only apprehended as such by the unreal individuality which is observed by the awareness of God itself, but this awareness remains unattached and unaffected by anything. One of the points they talk about is how all perceptions of grief, hunger, pain, misery, etc all ultimately occur in a subject-object duality where the witnessing awareness registers these sensations as something other than itself while remaining unchanged itself, in Advaita God or the Self is something that is considered to have been present all along at every moment as the foundational subject of every subject-object duality but which was confused (by the mind belonging to the unreal individuality) with the intellect, mind and so on; the realization of it is the realization of something present at this very moment, that's why they talk about removing the 'sheaths' covering it or use the metaphor of removing the layers of a piece of grain etc to get at the heart. When it's realized concomitant with that realization is the understanding that it was present all along and was abiding as unchanging and unaffected by anything and was never fooled or in bondage, the only illusion or sense of bondage exists in the unreal individuality which is dissolved and revealed as self-evidently unreal.
Based lol
