I watched the original series with Aang and I enjoyed it. Never got around to watching pic related though

It's okay, it has its high points and its low points. S3 is the high point of the show, S1 and S4 are alright. S2 is a slog to get through but even it has its moments.

It was universally reviled when it came out for not matching up to its predecessor, but I think most of Yea Forums has come around to it over the years and rewatches - at least to the point of "yeah 'salright"

how do u watch avatar and not love it to the point you immediately korra

All seasons have the same basic problem. They set up complex conflict but then can't resolve it and make antagonist retarded. It only works for season 3 because it had retarded villains to begin with.

I'm always tempted to start up korra after finishing an airbender rewatch. I manage to stop myself everytime, better forget about it.

I remember watching season 1 with my friends when it was first released.

We had a running joke about how often Korra would fall down and eat shit.
We were watching the episode where she escapes imprisonment from the mountain and I specifically remember my friend saying "Wow, Korra actually did a good job escaping there, and she didn't even fall down!" Only for Korra to immediately stumble over nothing, tumble down the hill and pass out.

I feel like that is an adequate summary of the series in general.

Because Avatar is mediocre

Korra isn't "bad" (well except for season 2), it's just highly disappointing coming off of Avatar. It's nowhere near as deep or developed or nuanced as Avatar.
There are some good parts to it. Outside of the dumb love triangle and everything after the bloodbender reveal, (and those two aspects do drag season 1 down), it does have a pretty solid foundation. So S1 is decent.
Season 2 is bad because not only does it have a terrible villain, it also has a terrible retcon of the whole Avatar system.
Season 3 is probably the best. Solid villains, doesn't focus too much on shippingshit.
Season 4 is... weird. It's just weird, and does a bad job at wrapping up the series, but it's watchable.
Overall, Korra is pretty mediocre and I wouldn't really recommend watching it unless you really have nothing better to do.

Next time watch out for how often she says "i don't know what to do".
Some channeling there maybe?

I'll just say it again. If the story had the actual balls to be good/amazing, it would have had Korra kill herself at the end of season one where she's standing over the giant wall of ice looking down, just before Aang shows up and deus ex machina's all her problems away. I mean just look at this! youtube.com/watch?v=wWhhwF_I4Ws One of her tears literally falls off the side of the cliff, you can't be that close to the edge without almost being over it already, and once again korra fucking pussies out and fails at doing the right thing. She could have solved the problem with the avatar being locked away or having a shitty one element avatar for a life cycle and genuinely helped the world more with her death. This would have reframed the entire show as a proper tragedy instead of a mediocre at best comedy.
