Manga Thread

What’s some high class manga that only high IQ people read? Think Yotsuba.

Manga is the worst artistic medium possible

The Tezuka adaption of Crime and Punishment.

Good read

Blame! (Tsutomu Nihei)
DragonHead (Minetaro Mochizuki)
FLCL (Hajime Ueda)
Hikaru no Go (Yumi Hotta)
Battle Royale (Masayuki Taguchi)
Sabaibaru (Takao Saito) -- the original version from the 70s, not the recent trash reboot
Fullmetal Alchemist (Hiromu Arakawa) -- actually holds a lot of meaning if you subscribe to Heidegger's interpretation of the presocratics

Anything Jiro Taniguchi

Ashita no Joe, the greatest manga (and anime) of all time

Aku no Hana is the best manga of all time and you cannot convince me otherwise. the first act is mysterious as hell, the second the most tense piece of media I've ever experienced, and the third a wonderful wind-down and discussion of what the fuck just happened, perfectly planned, perfectly told, perfectly structured. also it has female on male rape, which does wonders for egalitarianism

I'm going to keep making VN threads and you can't stop me

Enjoyed this so much I stayed up the entire night to read it through in one sitting, and I had the ending cooking around in my head for a full week afterwards. Anything with a similar feel or equally well developed themes I should pick up?

Akira
Alita
Junji Ito

similar plot to AnH, as in it's a coming of age based on sex and blackmail? Onanie Master Kurosawa
similar themes and tone to AnH with existential overtones? probably Oyasumi Punpun, but you've probably already read it

Witch Hat Atelier is based

Yotsuba and Azumanga

Also Blame! Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Berserk if it ever finishes

Calvin and Hobbes

I´ve read both. Onanie had a terrible ending to be honest desu. Punk is very good.

Punpun* why the fuck does mac autocorrect?

+1

This. It makes honor to its name; the feeling of despair, tedium and rebellion of Baudelaire's poetry is excellently depicted in this manga.

This is certainly an Yea Forums thread but sadly the guys there have a terrible taste.

20th century boys

John woo’s ‘a better tomorrow’ is my favourite manga film

Does anyone have the lit charts for the Doki Doki girls?

Shintaro Kago's most philosophical work, imo. It was actually very funny as a critique on the comic narrative.
